Shady Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 In our country its by registration with the County Board of Elections. I registered in May 1975. I don't doubt that at all. The current party has drifted far far from what it was. JFK could no longer run as a Democrat. He'd never get the nomination of that party anymore. He'd probably have to run as a Republican nowadays. Quote
BubberMiley Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 I think JFK would still fit in fine with the Democrats, but Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt could never run as Republicans. Can you imagine a Republican "fighting the bosses" to give the working man a square deal like Roosevelt did throughout his political career? On Guard for Thee Posted September 20, 2014 Report Posted September 20, 2014 I think everybody that is in such a hurry to beat up on Obama should go crawl under Iraq, sorry, a rock. Look at the crap he inherited from the two war criminals, bush/cheney. Oh well, that's all been said before. They won't ever get it. They'll just head for the Tea Party and start it all ove reagan. I think it's been pointed out several times than Ronald Reagan would be laughed out of the hall if he tried to run as a Republican today. Black Dog Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 I don't doubt that at all. The current party has drifted far far from what it was. Here goes.I am employed; I am to the left of cenger (edited to center to fix typo caught by Black Dog); I am not an Islamaphobe; and I am not only a registered Democrat but also quite politically active. Does this answer your questions? Youre a personal attack on yourself. You can't spell; and You make no sense. There is a lot to discuss about Obama, both pro and con. Black Dog Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 (edited) Fixed. Thanks for your edit. Now you just have to fix the whole thing about you pretending to be left of centre when absolutely none of the positions you've expressed on any given issue would conform to that alignment. I favor women and blacks voting and having full participation rights in society. I am pro-choice. I am in favor of expansion of national parks and making them truer to nature. I was a major supporter of wolf reintroduction to Yellowstone.1 I believe women should have full societal rights, including driving, and not being subject to degrading and random rape. I am in favor of gays having full civil and employment rights. I am against beheading people because they are gay, or members of a racial or religious minority. Conservatives, by contrast, believe and behave to the contrary. Radical Islam is often described as a deeply conservative philosophy. 1The wolves indeed have "Canadian content." They were from BC and AB. Also, I scratched the head of two animals that are closely related to wolves yesterday and they licked my hand. I'm surprised you would defend the statement that ISIS is conservatism in action. Personally, I disagree. I think conservatives in this country are far more moderate than your average-joe Islamic extremist. Do you really mean to say that the conservativism you practice is less "intransigent" and is big-tent enough to include ISIS, or were you just misunderstanding what jbg was saying?
