Poor thugs....so misunderstood. I wonder why they get shot so much ?

Good question. Can't a guy commit a robbery without getting hassled by the man anymore?

OK...are the number of Canadians who worry about it a majority ?

I doubt it. But it makes being a cop in the US a lot more interesting.

Sure does....that's why we had/have so many cop shows....Dragnet...Adam 12...NYPD...Rookie Blue...Cops...Cops Reloaded...and lots more.

Very popular in Canada too !

Lots of cop shows everywhere. Some of the best are from the UK where the average cop doesn't carry a gun.

Most police around the world have guns...including Northern Ireland (UK).

They have access to them but the average patrol cop doesn't carry.

PSNI are routinely armed...just like the vast majority of police officers around the world. It is rumoured that even some Canadian police departments have side arms and shotguns in their squad cars. Amazing, huh ?

While you will see armed officers in special circumstances, you don't normally see armed police officers walking around British cities.

Except for the fact Canadian officers are not allowed to carry personal weapons, many are probably as well armed as their US counterparts.

Except when you do, as in the PSNI. Armed on duty and permitted to be armed off duty. This is in the UK last time I checked.

Perhaps Officer Wilson can be the keynote speaker at police conventions around the world !

Maybe so but you don't see them walking around downtown London or other British cities. Northern Ireland is not part of Britain.

OK...I won't argue about the geography of the matter. Nearly all police officers are armed throughout the world, just as they are in Ferguson. They shoot people too.

I agree, they are but not the average British patrol officer. They make good cop shows to. Some of them can be seen on PBS.

Great...I bet they even drink tea. Not sure what that has to do with shootin' perps in Missouri, USA, but it was a fun diversion. Maybe Michael Brown should have attacked a London bobby instead.

The PSNI/RUC of course had/have to contend with much more than teenage punks........hence carrying firearms, be you a Provo, cop or regular Joe only makes sense.......When in Ulster

I thought we were talking about cop shows. You brought them up.

As far as as Wlson goes, this is a no win situation for him. Perhaps he would be better off if he did have a trial but even if he was acquitted by a majority black jury, there would be some who wouldn't accept it and they would still be puting out fires.

True. But he's released all the evidence which was presented to the grand jury, and if he missed any people are free to point that out, including the federal authorities who have been investigating and closely following this case.

Good point......what evidence do those that feel a grave injustice was just realized have and are remiss in submitting? I mean, if the Grand Jury was wrong, it should be easy to prove it.....

Maybe Officer Wilson should hang up his SIG Sauer P226 and move to London until all the excitement calms down. Some kind of police officer exchange program. Then a London bobby could patrol Ferguson without being armed to see how things work out.

I think officer Wilson is screwed when it comes to policing regardless of any guilt. There is a problem when a majority of a town's population is represented by less than 10% of its police force but that doesn't make Wilson guilty of murder.

Wilson is hardly the first police officer to shoot a perp and be exonerated by a grand jury or internal affairs. Hell, it happens about 400 times per year.

Police union and NRA will have his back.

Changing the subject, the store that apparently reported Brown's robbery was torched as were many others. A report I heard said that most of them were minority owned businesses, and chances are they won't be coming back. Which, of course, hurts the community far more than the death of a white cop. Riots like this draw violent criminals and deranged people like nothing else. It's too bad that the citizens of Ferguson are sentenced to night after night of hooligans running wild, on top of the death of a troubled youth.

The Michael Brown saga had me wondering when/why walking down the middle of the street became so popular. I noticed this behaviour several years ago and just wrote it off as some kind of insurance scam or passive protest that takes advantage of new laws to protect pedestrian right-of-way, but apparently it is quite popular in many U.S. cities. Here is what can happen:

So let me guess. These protests across the country tonight consist of individuals who are all 'left leaning' citizens and not of individuals seeking a justice system that represents all races with equal rights.

What's unfortunate is that the parents of Michael Brown are subjected to comments like 'the death of a troubled youth'. As far as I can tell, Michael Brown was a graduate of a college, and was experimenting with rap music, including writing his own lyrics. Is there any indication that he was a troubled youth? He seemed to me to be just like any other teenager grappling with teenage angst (regardless of his size).

Bob McCulloch had no intention of seeking charges. He did not recommend any charges and he basically pulled the puppet strings on this grand jury inquiry.
