Derek 2.0 Posted October 11, 2014 Report Posted October 11, 2014 Well, if they can export a very bulky commodity like oil, it stands to reason they can probably import bulky commodities like weapons. Applies and oranges......its far easier to sell a commodity like oil, than it is to procure on the blackmarket specific heavy western munitions like guided missiles or tank shells.......and then, bring them into the center of Iraq......Even the Americans, with all their resources, had to strain to bring both forces and supplies to Northern Iraq during the '03 invasion. Quote
On Guard for Thee Posted October 11, 2014 Report Posted October 11, 2014 The adoration puts a lump in your throat does it? Not to mention that 1-2 million/bucks/day from that oil will put a big lump in your arsenal budget. You can get shit done in that part of the world with that kind of money. Quote

EVEN the Americans? Now you're really comparing oranges and apples given America's rate of accomplishments in the region.. On Guard for Thee Posted October 11, 2014 Report Posted October 11, 2014 They're cheering the leadership of Harper on the world stage and On this issue in particular. "World stage"? I don't think so. The cheers come from those who are made to cheer. So phony it's pathetic. Quote

jbg Posted October 11, 2014 Report Posted October 11, 2014 ISIS has no outside source of supply, granted they captured tons upon tons of munitions from both the Syrian and Iraqi armies......as to who will run out first? The intent is to ensure that it is ISIS, as made evident by Allied airstrikes on ISIS munitions dumps, coupled with targeting ISIS supply convoys on Iraqi and Syrian highways............I wouldn't be surprised if ISIS is already experiencing shortages of heavier US supplied munitions (like tank and artillery shells and anti-tank missiles), captured off the Iraqis. ISIS came out of nowhere, literally. I suspect that Qatar can finance a resupply. ISIS seems to be a compendium of radical interests that happen to be Sunni. Call them "Sadam II." waldo Posted October 11, 2014 Report Posted October 11, 2014 ISIS came out of nowhere, literally. no - up until Feb-2014, before the split, ISIS used to be al-Qaeda in Iraq... a name-change/split (falling out amongst evil-doers), doesn't hide the foundations... of evil-doing! Quote

Qatar has about 250,000 people and almost unlimited funds. It supplies the funds. The weapons find their way to the fighters. The leaders get to ensconce themselves in a relatively liveable place while they direct their hormone-fueled fighters who and where to attack and/or behead. overthere Posted October 12, 2014 Report Posted October 12, 2014 One thing the West can do to help in Iraq and Syria is to dial up the pressure on Turkey big time. Turkey is pleased to see ISIL taking it to the Kurds, given that the Turks have domestic problems with them.. Collateral slaughter of civilians is acceptable to the Turks as long as the Kurds are slapped down hard. Turkey is a NATO memebr and badly wants into the EU. Both of those facts are pressure points.
