Big Guy my challenges are directed at specific people and I am very clear when and why I criticize them. Criticizing Israeli state policies does not make someone an anti-semite. ... I try to be polite and believe that I do understand your position. You have stated it well and often. It is a view shared by many. I also appreciate the passion with which you approach this topic but you may be defeating your purpose - if your purpose is to try to convert others on this board to your point of view. Posters on anonymous bulletin boards seldom change their opinions. Conversely, those who have not yet formed a strong opinion are often painted into an extreme position by commenting and being labelled as supporting one side or the other. There are always grey areas and those are the subtle arguments that can sway opinion. Then there are those denizens of the dark areas of opinion boards who will congregate around anyone with a very passionate opinion to act as the victim de jour. The passionate ones are very easy to aggravate and the resulting frustration that leads to name calling is considered a successful ploy. Israel gets a big pat on the back for blockading, starving destroying infrastructure preventing the delivery of medicine destruction of livelihood! Every time someone calls Hamas a terrorist, you support all of the above! Every peoples in this world deserves the right to self defense. Think Hamas is a terrorist, then you probably thought Nelson Mandela was too! Mandela called Israel an apartheid state. But hey what does Nelson know? White people in North America born with a silver spoon in their mouth know way much more about apartheid and can spot a terrorist a mile away. RAMALLAH, PALESTINIAN TERRITORIES—Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas blamed Hamas on Friday for needlessly extending fighting with Israel in the Gaza Strip, casting doubt on the future of the Palestinian unity government that the Islamic militant group backs. The remarks by Abbas come a few days after Israel and Hamas militants reached a truce after 50 bitter days of fighting. More than 2,100 Palestinians were killed, including hundreds of civilians. Seventy one people on the Israeli side, including six civilians were killed. Several Egyptian mediated cease-fire attempts during the conflict failed. Hamas eventually accepted almost the same truce offered at the beginning. “It was possible for us to avoid all of that, 2,000 martyrs, 10,000 injured, 50,000 houses (destroyed),” Abbas told Palestine TV in remarks broadcast Friday. He said Hamas had insisted on discussing demands first before ending the war, which only served to prolong the violence.
