What do you do if trolled by a Mod?

Yes, it has happened/happens .

Silly question. You like it or lump it. It's their forum to do with as they please.

While true, it would be silly to ignore , at least in the face of trying to gain decorum, that the Mod trolls a poster in PM's , questioning ones manhood and the such.

It leaves very little to respect going forward and does contribute to the overall tenor of the site.

You should report it to the Admin. Send Greg a message.

Would you like me to give him a heads up? I can forward the entire PM convo to him. Among many things, it clearly shows who was the 1st to solicit the other through the PM function.

We do not have time for a meeting of the flat earth society.

Grow up charles.

Your shtick is tiresome and unwarranted.

Trolling is very hard to define. Basically trolling is someone that's being provocative on purpose. But some could call that being the Devil's advocate too.

Trolling is like taunting or jeering. It's done to upset people. It's not done to prove a point or to be a devil's advocate. It's not done because you're trying to win an argument. A troll doesn't care about an argument. A troll just wants people to be angry or confused.

It's clear to me that the mods and the facilitators don't know what trolling is so have invented their own definition, hence how confused people are when accused of trolling.

Call it whatever you want to - it is the conscious attempt to make another person uncomfortable. It is like we see in question period where an answer is followed by a cheap shot. I believe that many posters are unable to express themselves succinctly so they resort to insulting terms and phrases. I guess that is the price one has to pay for a limited vocabulary.

"Trolling" is like pornography - you know it when you see it - but people have different standards and what one sees may be very different from what another sees. I really believe that a few posters here are unable to express themselves in a friendly and positive manner. They believe that aggressive is strength and demeaning is witty.

Unfortunately, that becomes the predominant tone of the board and ends up discouraging those who use the medium for soliciting different opinions. For the short time I have been on here, I have seen a few new people attempting to make a positive impact but then being rebuffed and insulted by the usual posters.

And those posters know who they are as we know who they are. No one needs to point them out.

It is ironic that they participate in this thread that describes them and they end up describing themselves - but - that is the nature of anonymous opinion boards.

Note - For those expecting a response from Big Guy: I generally do not read or respond to posts longer then 300 words nor to parsed comments.

You mean like your holier-than-thou passive-aggressive attacks on other posters?

Thats quite obvious. The king of trolls just seems to be able to go on and on without interruption. Perhaps its the Canadian obsession that grants some form of immunity.

I'll say again.....planted.....or cloned.....take your pick.

As has been explained in the past, people don't agree about what constitutes a troll. You are implying that a troll is being ignored, or undetected, but it's likely that others just don't agree with your assessment.

It has also been explained to us that the judgement on the reported troll is completely arbitrary and up to moderation. That is fine, so if that is the case, then the rules need to be changed a bit. So since we have no trolls on this board, I am going to start to mimic others in their posting styles. Let's see how far that goes.

I've stopped reporting because it does NOT make a difference.

Change 'others ' to other...as in one for accuracy.

Pretty much all but one agree who trolls and who doesnt. Why? Because the one thinks it funny to see .

The troll isnt being ignored or undetected , its being promoted or encouraged, take your pick

That's what I've done. It has worked out great! Conversations are no longer constructive and it's just one giant flame war.

LOL!

Getting real tired of the half ass job being done with with site!

Would really help if the mods stopped uses their side posters immunity!

Maple Leaf Web is now worth $720.00! Down over $1,500 in less than one year! Total fail of the moderation on this site! That reminds me, never ask Greg to be a business partner! NEVER!

Hey I just looked over in 'Police Carding' and his moderating holiness deemed that trolling can be defined afterall......too bad trolls can't. I also notice he defined trolling and locked the thread without our everpresent Patriot there........curiouser and curiouser.

Ya I wouldn't allow moderators to use side posters anymore.

That would either wildly improve the site, or it would turn it into a ghost town!

I'm good with both!

My current most enjoyable, interesting and informative thread is currently "Losing Faith in Faith" with a disagreement and discussion between Mighty AC and Accountability Now. There are obviously conflicting points of view - but - they are being identified and shared in a civil and respectful manner by two obviously intelligent and well researched individuals.

That conversation could have gone downhill very quickly to personal insults, baiting, trolling and cheap shots by either party. Instead, it is continuing on a respectful level and I am enjoying following it.

The strength and readability of that thread may be in the absence of certain posters who are unaccustomed to respectful dialogue.

You see - it really is possible! :D

I've noticed a change in your posting style and I also knew WHY you did it. It's actually quite good. It takes effort to be as abrasive like that, since generally it does not seem to be in your nature. And we have also seen a rising level of frustration from moderation. As there have been a high number of locked threads in the past couple weeks compared to what I usually see around here.

C.A. has also locked a thread due to insults and trolling. Kind of funny since the definition of trolling seems to be completely arbitrary.

This thread is now over a year old, and I see little improvement.
