There's a section relating to courtesy. Moonlight posted it earlier.

Yes he did:

I don't see how Shady commenting on a tv show is not treating people with respect and dignity.......but I can see how your reaction, likewise your discourse with Shady in other topics, could be construed as lacking respect and dignity........

As I said, I wasn't the first one to notice. Another member had already posted an angry response to Shady before I got there, and considering the number of other GoT fans on the site, I decided that they need not similarly have their surprise ruined by Shady's inconsiderate post. Shady already got at least 2 of us, there was no need for more. I got nothing personally from deleting Shady's update. My surprise was already ruined. I was hoping to stop that from happening to others.

It was an extremely easy call.

Jesus wept.........I do truly hope your tongue was planted firmly in cheek well writing that. ;)

the only overreaction is yours! Don't bother trying to interpret the Shady rationale for doing so... state your rationale for believing it appropriate to put forward a spoiler... on anything?

.

I'm not trying to interpret Shady's actions, but Kimmy's overreaction.

The real douchebags are the "no spoilers" people. The show aired already, it's not anyone else's responsibility to protect you just because you couldn't be bothered to watch it yet.

There's a freaking thread about the show.

and now your standard silly-buggar play begins! I asked you for your rationalization... I asked you to state your rationale for believing it appropriate to put forward a spoiler... on anything?

One passage from your link worth repeating:

People enjoy discussing the shows as much as watching them. Its a virtual water cooler and people are going to gather and start talking the minute the credits roll.

Said point is confirmed by our very own GOT thread here on MLW.......

Again, Shady just simply attempting to gain enjoyment out of discussing the episode with other GOT fans........was his actions worthy of moderator actions.......I think not.

Some people are overly invested in fiction and sans a spoiler, their lives can be easily ruined?

considering you said you don't follow the show, considering you said you didn't see the ShadySpoiler, you sure have freakin' amazing powers of interpretation for the rationale of someone you just, a couple of posts back, stated, "I'm not trying to interpret Shady's actions"!

Actual research shows that spoilers are a good thing...moderators...please take note:

Spoiler alert: spoilers make you enjoy stories more

This story is going to be spoiled right from the beginning, but don’t worry. According to research by UC San Diego psychology professor Nicholas Christenfeld, spoilers don’t ruin a story: They make you enjoy it even more.

I think it is so cute...reminds me of the original Batman television series that would leave us with a cliffhanger only to be resolved next week...same bat time...same bat channel ! You had to wait...no cheating.

Curse the internet !

Or remember Dallas........people would paid huge to know Sue Ellen's sister shot JR ;)

Some people's bubble-wrapped children I guess.........

you and your side-kick have been purposely demeaning anyone with interest in the show - why? "Overly invested in fiction... an easily ruined life" - really? That's the best you have?

No, I'm transfixing Shady's actions into the piece provided by Bryan.......to help make sense of the horror.

Agreed...this dust up says far more about the sensitive bubble-wrapped viewer than any evil "spoiler". Curse those DVRs too !

Context........its a fantasy tv show. People getting bent out of shape, and I've only seen several people do as much, is only part of the issue......which when played out, results in a moderator taking action against a member because of a fantasy tv show.

Maybe Canadians deal with spoilers differently. Where's the research on that?

I wonder if people knew how the Titanic movie would end ? Bet they did, but still went anyway.

Or the Passion of the Christ........

With tonight's incident, I expect the threads encompassing tv shows and movies to be locked........wouldn't want to spoil something for someone.

Right...the actual programming is not important....it is the arbitrary and unwarranted action to delete another members' content that was within forum rules. It is/was an abuse of power.

My proposed actions going forward are to post many labeled spoilers so as to inoculate our most sensitive Protector of Surprises.

Fair warning....Popeye will always get some spinach and rescue Olive Oil.

My point exactly, its not so much Shady's actions, but the over reactions by the moderator..........me thinks absent Kimmy and Shady "hugging it out", Greg should set forth lighting bolts from atop Mount Olympus. ;)

Right...so let me formalize the request for moderator guidance on "spoilers" in this forum.

Please give us the grace and wisdom of proper MLW spoiler protocol so we may not sin in the eyes of God.

That's one way......or might I suggest those that worry about their favorite tv show being ruined, that they're not watching in real time and instead lurking here, turn off the status updates and their social media.......or just shelter in place somewhere else on the internet.
