Great questions. I'd like to know more about her experience and accomplishments as well.

Apparently so far she has accomplished not smoking crack, not drunk driving, not hanging out with known criminals, not making ridiculous gestures whilst business is being conducted in city hall, not bowling over city councillors while running around like a grossly fat chicken with it's head cut off, not getting inot a stupid head butting contest with the chief of police...shall I go on?

Only if we're talking about a binary choice between her and RoFo. I think I might vote for Al Gore over RoFo.

Exactly, it's not a binary choice. I still don't see any accomplishments or experience. And being a minority woman who was married to Jack Layton doesn't count. It seems like that's the biggest thing she's got going for her. But those aren't qualifications. At least to regular people.

I still believe that John Tory will be the next Mayor of Toronto. At the moment he appears to be a "no show" with media coverage focussed on Ford and Chow. John is a seasoned campaigner. While his success rate may be questionable, he does have the experience that no other candidate has in these election wars.

This is a very long campaign - elections on Oct 27. That is 218 days from to-day. I believe the Tory camp has decided to let the Chow and Ford camps do the initial blood letting. Soknacki and Thompson will enter the odd specific fray with Tory on the sidelines preaching co-operation and professionalism.

Like every Toronto election, close to the election, some serious candidates who have any significant support will withdraw from the race and throw their support behind Tory so that they are considered for the plum positions on the various committees. If things do not go well for Chow I can see her doing the same - falling on her left wing sword to save Toronto from another Ford fiasco.

This race is John Tory's to lose.

Note - For those expecting a response from Big Guy: I generally do not read or respond to posts longer then 300 words nor to parsed comments.

I kinda like Tory as well. Chow to me seemd a bit bland with her one "track" mind on rail safety whenever she got to her feet in the house. I'm looking forward to next Wednesday when they have their first televised debate. RoFo will actually have to speak on camera without brother Doug to hold his hand. That oughta be entertaining.

Just admit it, you are addicted to the train wreck freek show circus that Ford has brought to Canadian politics.

I'm sure Ford is going to pull out a lot of votes strictly on "entertainment" value!

I think you're right about Tory being a "no show". And that's pretty much it.

The only election that I can think Tory won was the Ontario pc. And I'm sure in that one the pc voters considered being born rich was the best experience any politician could ever have!

Do you have any poll number links that show that this election is Tory's to lose? Your going to have to back up your claim here.

Of course I have heard of her. I lived in Toronto before she came here, and followed her political career from the beginning but 'experience' needs to be clarified as there are different kinds.

Man that's a way out there comment?!?!?

We are talking about a city of Toronto Mayor election and experience in politics revolving around Toronto and the constituents in Toronto. No?

Chow has successfully represented her regional constituents and has run successful campaigns like 10 freekin times in a row!!!

We're looking at one of the most successful politicians in Canadian history! And you're not sure about her "experience"?

Ok then, if you say so MH.

Maybe if she was running for the mayor of Calgary, I can see her failing, but Toronto, where her team is so strong?

You're not going to win any elections with that perception Shady!

If being an immensely overweight white male, worth $50 million, addicted to drugs and an alcoholic isn't a minority then there's no such thing.

You could be right. Maybe keep him around and then demand some percentage of the take from the late night comedy shows. He has been providing free fodder for some time now and if the city is going to be the laughing stock then they should receive some benefit.

A lack of accomplishments or experience didn't seem to be a big deal when you and all the other "regular people" were guzzling the Ford Nation Kool-Aid.

Except Chow. Who, you know, actually wins things.

I was only asking for what kinds of experience, and you flipped out. It's clear - she has experience running in and winning (some) elections. That's quite a platform to run on, but ok.

She's never run for an executive position has she? Also she doesn't have the help of her late husband, who himself was a political force.

Wasn't with Jack when she was a school brd trst or when first as councillor either.

Her team now is even stronger/bigger than was before.

I have personally been to fundraisers where she was the auctioneer, believe me, she'll pull in the maximum amount in political donations! She will even have to stop early so as not to pull in too much!

Not true. We knew of his public sector, private sector and charitable work.

Not true. We knew of his public sector, private sector and charitable work.

Public sector: 10 years as a do-nothing fringe Councillor with no achievements.

Private sector: worked at his dad's sticker plant. Didn't achieve much there.

Charity: coached football and raised money for football. Good if you like high school football I guess.

If you looked at that C.V. and were impressed, you don't have any business running down any one else's track record.

What are her qualifications and experience?

She hasnt smoked crack

She has no criminals on the payroll

She can speak english and mandarin.

Shes not a drunk

Shes not an idiot

She shows up at work

You asking this silly question is amusing considering your legion of posts about and against Jack proves you know plenty of what she is all about.

What are her qualifications and experience?

Almost 15 years as a city councillor where she served on the budget committee and police board. Almost 10 years as a MP for one of Toronto's most populous wards, known for working across party lines (for example, on the legislation to expand the powers of citizens to make citizen's arrests).

What were Rob Ford's qualifications and experience?
