Boges Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 And how would he know this? We already went through this gravy train crap with Ford. There's no gravy unless you think snow removal, grass cutting, recreation programs and the like are "gravy". We'll see. He's mum on how or if he'll save money. The treatment of Tim Hudak has made it clear being honest about how you'll save money is an election loser. Rob Ford's rich too. How'd that work out? Ford inherited that company. Tory didn't inherit Rogers or the CFL. Don't you pretty much have to have some sort of wealth to be elected to major office these days? Quote

The treatment of Tim Hudak has made it clear being honest about how you'll save money is an election loser. Toronto doesn't have a spending problem. It has a revenue problem. Saving money by making cuts is not a solution. Ford inherited that company. Tory didn't inherit Rogers or the CFL. Don't you pretty much have to have some sort of wealth to be elected to major office these days? Sure. But you're confusing accomplishments and wealth with political skill. They ain't the same. Quote
overthere Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 Like it or not (I suspect not) but having this idiot man-child at the helm can certainly cost us a ton more of problems, problems that if large enough the whole country suffers. Billions are lost in gridlock in this city, and that costs everyone everywhere. Get the city moving and the coffers here and elsehwere will fill Yeah, I recall going to Toronto just before Ford and traffic was never a problem. Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!
On Guard for Thee Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 Look's like Ford took a bit of a beating with this latest debate. At one point he tried to grill John Tory as to just how much money he had saved the TO taxpayer during his term. Apparently RoFO forgot one minor issue....namely that Tory was in opposition and not the mayor. oops.. Rob didn't really look drunk! Quote

Bob Macadoo Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 He actually overachieved in the 2003 election. No one expected him to make the race that close. As for 2007, who knew trying to be fair to all religious groups would be deal-breaker. Much better to allow Catholics to have special treatment. At first he overachieved....but as Hall, Nunziata, etc revealed how incompetent they were Tory had it sewed up (sound familiar?) then he clutched defeat from the hands of victory......history repeated itself in 2006.......and wait for it.....soon, soon. You probably never listened to his radio show but he often mentioned that City Hall is filled with middle-management that are just collecting a paycheque not doing much. Sounds like gravy to me. That's the rhetoric of a populist, interchange middle-management with unions, activists, special interests, etc. and you too can run for mayor....and apparently fool people....twice. Successful Lawyer, Commissioner of the CFL, CEO of Rogers, successful radio host. I wonder why he's rich?Succesful Lawyer? He got his job from his Poppa & Daddy.....big Toronto players. No big wins....which is why he got out of law.Commissioner? Ran a near bankrupt league at its lowest point.....picked up after he left. Not to mention Larry Smith was commish too.....says it all. CEO of Rogers? You mean where is Daddy was on the board, and again when the corp was at its low point.....look up the quarterly reports. Radio host? So was Ford. He's rich because he was born with a silver spoon up his arse and has been tasting it his whole life......just like his son.....and his grandson. Quote
Black Dog Posted September 5, 2014 Author Report Posted September 5, 2014 I'm not even sure if Tory would be an improvement on Ford. If Ford wins, we're looking at another four years of stasis, since there's no way he'll be able to work with council our other orders of government to implement whatever agenda he has. Tory might be able to get things done, but based on his (wafer thin) platform, they'd be all the wrong things. Quote
Boges Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 Then doesn't the left look silly for only putting forward one candidate that could win. Quote
Black Dog Posted September 5, 2014 Author Report Posted September 5, 2014 Then doesn't the left look silly for only putting forward one candidate that could win. There's no leftist candidate in this election. Quote
Big Guy Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 Mayor Rob Ford has been subpoenaed to testify in the extortion case involving his crack cocaine video.
