Boges Posted February 17, 2014 Report Posted February 17, 2014 (edited) So Reality TV stars Tessa and Scott skate a World Record performance. A few minutes later the Americans do a World Record to overtake them. There is not stupider sport on earth than Ice Dance. What other than the "Twizzle" is an objective way to determine the winner? Boges Posted February 17, 2014 Report Posted February 17, 2014 (edited) Totally subjective and also corrupt for some reason. A ridiculous sport. When Sale and Peltier got robbed in 2002 it was obvious to everyone because they skated perfectly and the Russian couple had an obvious mistake. With Ice Dancing there aren't jumps than can effect the score. It's just weird elements that the public can't identify. The sad part is, that most of Canada's medals are in Judged sports including 3 of 4 of their current Golds. No way Canada comes close to matching their performance in Vancouver now. It would be a reason for celebration if we can sweep Gold on the team sports (Curling and Hockey) since those are the sports Canada adopts as their own. Edited February 17, 2014 by Boges Quote

I'm not sure how this "sport" got this way, but why would anyone participate in such a sham? Quote
Rue Posted February 17, 2014 Report Posted February 17, 2014 (edited) Boges you mean ice dancing. Its a totally corrupted and bs sport. The fix was in and exposed and is being played out and no one wants to speak up. In the figure skating competition, the male Japanese gold medal winner and the tiny little Russian girl gold medal winner were clearly the two best. Ice dancing is much more subjective. Figure skating they have tried over the years to fix but its just too technical to hide with subjective marks these days, You either get those triple axels or you fall on your butt. With the ice dancing its all puff pastry drag queens on ice manouvers. The ultra feminine male ice skaters either do ice dancing now. Figure skating sure has its ballet stuff, but its much more raw muscle power now. They have to be tough as hell. That pathetic Russian who claimed he hurt his back knew he would lose. His whole routine has been to engage in puff pastry hand and hip movements. Great if you want to do drag cabare but not into today's figure skating. That Japanese boy was as tough as it gets.I mean he pulled his gonads right out of the socket on his doughnut spin. That Russian girl was amazing to. Little robot drone girl. As for Patric Chen I can't stand him. He always falls on his butt. He is another Emanuel Sandhu. They could not handle the pressure. Sandhu though has gone on to be a great dancer on the floor off skates. I don't mean to rag either but they both choked. Tessa VirtueI like.Great name. great buttox but ice dancing reminds me of Mats Sundin skating. The Yanks look real. They have their scoring.Kessel is hot. I smell Yankee fever. I think if Canada doesn't find its scoring tough real quick its out of the running. Right now the yanks look like the team to beat. if Canada could only get 2 on the Finns they are gonna have a nightmare dealling with the Yanks. They need to find the net. -TSS- Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 Canada and Sweden have an easy match today. The US are favourites against the Czechs but on a good day the Czechs can beat anybody. If Russia loses today against Finland Putin will send those overpaid stars to work in the Siberian mines. Quote

Boges Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 (edited) It's shocking that people who play together often on the big ice tend to play better than assembled Allstar teams. [/sarcasm] Edited February 19, 2014 by Boges Quote

Boges Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 (edited) Ovie and Malkin were largely invisible. Other than Datsuk, the best Russians were Kovulchuk and Radulov. Both guys that play in the KHL. If it was for excellent scoring defense, Canada would have the same problem. Edited February 19, 2014 by Boges Quote

Both guys that play in the KHL. And those guys would never hack it in the NHL, eh? Credit to the Finns for playing a structured, defensively sound game and solid goaltending. That will go a long way anytime, regardless of the size of the ice. But hey, maybe you're right and hopefully the Czechs follow the same script this afternoon against the filthy Yanks. If it was for excellent scoring defense, Canada would have the same problem. Meh. Canada has been completely dominant this tournament without getting much production up front and some head-scratcher roster choices. I'd rather be behind the percentages a bit than riding them like, say, the U.S. Edited February 19, 2014 by Black Dog Quote

-TSS- Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 A very pleasant surprise indeed. The final scoreline was: Team Finland 3 Russian individuals 1 I bet most Canadians hope that the Czechs beat the US because the US sure know how to play against the Canadians when as the Czechs would probably be much easier opponents. -TSS- Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 Looks like both semi-finals will be between kid brother vs big brother. The nightmarish idea of the final would be USA-Sweden. Quote
-TSS- Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 I can only imagine what TV-viewers in Canada must be going throgh now that Canada is struggling in the 3rd period against Latvia. After all, it is essential for the very sport that Canada always beats a team like Latvia, always. Quote
Boges Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 (edited) Friggin' Latvia! Jonathan Bernier be like, I feel ya! To that Latvian goalie. 55 shots? And only 2 goals? Canada didn't play bad. They were dominant. The Latvian goal was on a set play where they changed lines on different doors so he had a break away. For those that think The US have this game locked up Friday, remember 2010. The US destroyed Finland in the semis while Canada struggled against Slovakia. Didn't mean much in the final. Canada should play up to the competition Friday. BTW please let PK Suban play! Edited February 19, 2014 by Boges Quote

Boges Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 (edited) It was suspenseful TV though. One mistake by Price and Game over there. Edited February 19, 2014 by Boges Quote
Black Dog Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 It was suspenseful TV I didn't find it thus. Suspense implies the outcome was in doubt at some point. Latvia had nothing going, it was really only a matter of time. Quote

Both guys that play in the KHL.Excedpt against the Yanks, Radulov cost them the game, and Kovalchuk didnt show up to play in other games. Going to the KHL Koval lost all his grit. Have a nice plane ride back to Washington Ovie.....oh and youll likely go into a funk for the next month. The Caps will be mighty pleased. Quote
guyser Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 TSS.....a good day to be a Finn I take it ? Thank you, Signed, Canada Quote
WestCoastRunner Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 The interesting thing about the Latvian goalie, he is on the farm team for Tampa Bay. Yzerman is the GM for Tampa Bay. Black Dog Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 Man how different are today's results if Latvia and the Czechs swap goalies? Canada would have had a baker's dozen on Pavelec. Quote
