Boges Posted July 8, 2014 Report Posted July 8, 2014 (edited) So is it "a thing" now or isn't it? I was asking. Will shirtless people follow RoFo around like groupies now? It only takes one person to derail and media scrum. Edited July 8, 2014 by Boges Quote

Big Guy Posted July 8, 2014 Report Posted July 8, 2014 Ford's media appearances are an effing joke without topless protesters, so sure, why not. These protesters should be sanctioned by the government. They are discriminating against females joining their protest. Are they not? Black Dog Posted July 8, 2014 Report Posted July 8, 2014 How do we know they don't allow women? Also, given the ironclad general rule of public nudity, is that something you want? Quote
cybercoma Posted July 8, 2014 Report Posted July 8, 2014 New Poll has Tory in the lead. So that's good right? Are people without shirts following RoFo around yelling "Resign! Resign! Resign!" going to be a thing now? You certainly are obsessed with the fact that the guy wasn't wearing a shirt. Why is that? Is it really unusual for someone to be out jogging without a shirt on in weather that's above 30C? Quote

cybercoma Posted July 8, 2014 Report Posted July 8, 2014 It's hilarious and appropriately farcical for the mayor of farce. Quote
Big Guy Posted July 8, 2014 Report Posted July 8, 2014 No they're not. Women can go topless in public in Ontario. But that would take the focus away from Rob Ford during his speech and probably expose another issue (or two). BubberMiley Posted July 8, 2014 Report Posted July 8, 2014 I would be more sympathetic to their cause if they allowed females. You aren't sympathetic to their cause? That is, you don't think Ford should resign and people should just passively accept his behaviour? Boges Posted July 8, 2014 Report Posted July 8, 2014 (edited) You aren't sympathetic to their cause? That is, you don't think Ford should resign and people should just passively accept his behaviour? First of all, he's not my mayor so his behaviour doesn't effect me in the least. But no I don't think shouting people down is a constructive form of protest. And though I completely concede that Ford's behaviour has been very inappropriate, he was democratically elected to a four year term and is not legally obligated to resign. Since he's returned he hasn't really embarrassed himself . . . YET. . . so the whole circus surrounding him currently have been created by those that oppose him. Edited July 8, 2014 by Boges Quote

His whirlwind tour of media got shut down in one day.....for being an embarassment. Quote
Boges Posted July 8, 2014 Report Posted July 8, 2014 Sorry boges but if thats what you believe then you have not been paying attention. His whirlwind tour of media got shut down in one day.....for being an embarassment. Because of today? I'm sure he'll continue to do pressers. Apparently RoFo doesn't use a true security detail, that's why the shirtless dude with the sign could be seen 5 feel from him. I think going forward he might choose to create a buffer between him and the masses. It's completely inline with what other big city mayors do. At this point I'm really rooting for John Tory though. I'm glad he's ahead in the most recent poll. Quote
guyser Posted July 8, 2014 Report Posted July 8, 2014 Because of today? I'm sure he'll continue to do pressers. No , last week when he returned from his supposed Bala dry out joint Quote
Rue Posted July 9, 2014 Report Posted July 9, 2014 The point is the best candidate is in the lead and I hope it results in his election. Maybe Tory's low key approach is working. I hope so. Never has there been such a clear choice, a bafoon, a la la land socialist and a moderate. Gee its a hard choice. Quote
Big Guy Posted July 9, 2014 Report Posted July 9, 2014 Just read some of the reports from fellow "clients" and a counsellor at the clinic. Does not paint a pretty picture of RoFo. This does not appear to be a guy I would want tom share a beer with. http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2014/07/08/rob_ford_disruptive_in_rehab_sources_say.html Quote Note - For those expecting a response from Big Guy: I generally do not read or respond to posts longer then 300 words nor to parsed comments.
guyser Posted July 9, 2014 Report Posted July 9, 2014 (edited) It was only a matter of time before stuff would leak out of his rehab place. Anyone reading it can see RoFo doing the same old crap, bullying, pushing, angry outburst etc. Afterall, the ONLY reason he was there was due to his racist and homophobic outburst and his handler DoFo knew he had to get him to disappear for a spell. It will be again only a matter of time before he is taped drunk w Lisi by his side, or his handler/counsellor drinking too under the stress or honking on a glass pipe. Argus Posted July 9, 2014 Report Posted July 9, 2014 You aren't sympathetic to their cause? That is, you don't think Ford should resign and people should just passively accept his behaviour? Do you believe political discourse is aided by nut jobs standing by a politician trying to give a speech screaming Resign! repeatedly so no one can hear him? Black Dog Posted July 9, 2014 Report Posted July 9, 2014 Do you believe political discourse is aided by nut jobs standing by a politician trying to give a speech screaming Resign! repeatedly so no one can hear him? It beats actually listening to whatever bullshit Fordo is spouting. And before you extrapolate this to politicians in general: you don't see this with other politicians because the vast majority of politicians aren't complete fuckups. Quote
BubberMiley Posted July 9, 2014 Report Posted July 9, 2014 Do you believe political discourse is aided by nut jobs standing by a politician trying to give a speech screaming Resign! repeatedly so no one can hear him?Not nut jobs, but reasonable people with their shirts off, yes. As BD said, Ford is a special case. Any other politician would have had the decency to resign long ago. It's time for people to lose patience and not just passively accept his behaviour. Boges Posted July 9, 2014 Report Posted July 9, 2014 So do you think if, in the future, a security detail would keep the shirtless horde a little further than 5 feet away from Ford, that would be completely offside? Because other politicians usually ensure that. Quote
Big Guy Posted July 9, 2014 Report Posted July 9, 2014 It appears to me that RoFo is between the rock and hard place as to making political speeches. He could call a press conference but he does not allow questions so he has to go directly to the people. The problem with that is that not all people want to listen to him so he is getting shouted down by hecklers. Some people are so outraged by his outrageous behaviour that they are expressing it at speeches. I suppose he could continue to do this and try to get sympathy for being "picked on" but that does not seem to be working. I think he wants a venue where he can give his speech, accept no questions and not allow anyone to heckle or comment while he is talking. I do not know where he would find that kind of outlet and still get TV coverage. On Guard for Thee Posted July 9, 2014 Report Posted July 9, 2014 From what I'm reading today it seems RoFo especially liked the "nature" walks up there in Muskoka. What better form of rehab could you ask for than a walk through the forest and a few pulls on the old pipe? Quote
