WWWTT Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 This has to be the worst last several weeks in conservative history! Scandal after scandal can't be good! And together with a united, young and strong NDP opposition Canadians are invigerated with the reality that change for the best for all Canadians is just a few steps away! NDP have regained their leed in Quebec and are now leeding in BC and prairies(I guess that excludes Alberta) and are second in Ontario. Liberals are hurting bad and it appears that the conservatives have stagnated. To me this is a strong sign that the conservatives have peaked back on May 2nd and are slowly slipping down. WWWTT Posted March 30, 2012 Author Report Posted March 30, 2012 It's common knowledge that the first year is the time to do the not so popular stuff. So how did that work out for Paul Martin then? This is why I asked for the link because there are probably just as many good examples that can be argued for both sides here. Sometimes the writing on the wall does not wash away! Newfoundlander Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 (edited) Is anyone surprised? Parties support always go up after a leadership convention, Dion and Ignatieff both led Harper in polls and look what happened to them. Edited March 30, 2012 by Newfoundlander Quote
WLDB Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 So how did that work out for Paul Martin then? Paul Martin never won a majority. I generally don't provide links to things that are common knowledge. Also, at one point Ed Broadbent was leading Mulroney in the '88 election. Things can change very quickly in politics. Thats not what I recall As a matter of fact this is the first time the conservatives have bein rivalled in a poll since 2006 or leading up to 2006. Yes new leaders do create a pick up in the polls, but matching for the top spot? This has not bein witnesed in Canada for some time. Keep in mind that Harper was not able to tople Martin in 2004 the first time round with a united right. True this is only one poll, but a good one that I like! Still nothing backs up a claim like a link,so the invitation is out there. WWWTT Quote Maple Leaf Web is now worth $720.00! Down over $1,500 in less than one year! MiddleClassCentrist Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 When 3 years from now, people will have forgotten the scandal. There is a 6 month time frame where people get really riled up about an issue... after the 6 months, the majority of people have moved on. We can expect the negative attack ads on Mulclair to come out soon... Quote Ideology does not make good policy. Good policy comes from an analysis of options, comparison of options and selection of one option that works best in the current situation. This option is often a compromise between ideologies.

Yep, do everything dirty in the first year. People will forget and like that you are doing nothing in the final 2 years. People are stupid. Quote Ideology does not make good policy. capricorn Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 The rest of Canada will get sick of NDP, they are Quebec first and Canada 2nd NDP issues two English-language press releases on federal budget: one for Canada, and one for QuebecThe one for 'Canadians' was titled "Conservative budget slashes health care, pensions," and starts like this: "NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair today slammed Stephen Harper's Conservatives for introducing a budget that recklessly cuts the vital services that Canadians rely on—such as Old Age Security and health care." The second one is titled "The Conservative budget: no relief for Quebecers." "Stephen Harper promised to protect health care funding and never even mentioned his plan to cut Old Age Security. Now, he is putting Quebecers' retirement security and primary healthcare in peril with these reckless cuts," Mulcair is quoted as saying. Both press releases, similar in tone but slightly different in context, are posted on the party's website. Upon reading the two press releases, political analyst Norman Spector sarcastically tweeted: "I guess the NDP's BC-specific budget press release is still to come!" http://ca.news.yahoo.com/blogs/canada-politics/ndp-issue-two-english-language-press-releases-federal-224919715.html You're playing a dangerous game Mr. Mulcair.
