Even the Government today is backing down on the lawful access Bill, saying that they will look at amendments. (Which I think a good thing!)

Backing down isn't enough, there is no need for the bill at all..police already do an adequate job the way things already are

you like when harper gives big business tax cuts, they make a killing, then close the business and move it out of the country ?

such as ?

Very heady stuff. :o

It shows how far most CPCers are from the mainstream in that they would think any of those statements are outrageous.

But if those tax cuts are deficit financed then any "help" businesses get from it is simply an illusion, and all youre doing is guaranteeing tax hikes later on.

The consensus is pretty broad in that Canada will be out of deficit by or before 2016.

I don't find them outrageous, I find them ridiculously stupid. :P

Amendments? But theres no need for the bill at all. Law enforcement can already invade your privacy, they just need to get a court order, which means they have to be able meet a certain threshold in terms of evidence and a reasoned argument.

Some of it does have relevance to some, in the bill, it will require the ISPs to preserve electronic evidence and will afford Police and intelligence agencies the ability to conduct surveillance, which in some instances, produce information so quickly that the police may not have time to obtain a warrant for fear of not being able to act on said surveillance……………

Your big internet providers have been doing this, informally, for nearly a decade……..One could argue that there hasn’t been a surge of black helicopters or JTF-2uberninjasnipers busting through doors since this has been in place………That said, the smaller companies have still told the Government to pound sand and get a warrant, which as the argument goes, could buy time for the potential criminal/terror suspects to devolve any incriminating evidence……….

In the end, even when the bill passes, I’m sure you’ll see numerous constitutional challenges and a dramatic increase in the cost of internet charges to counterbalance the cost of new software for ISPs……..

In effect, this could potentially become the Tories LGR……….

Note that I didn't give my evaluation of those quotes. And I don't care to. It's merely an illustration that what Justin says on public issues and his personal feelings are publicly recorded, and there are those who will reference them in the future. I hope this clarifies the matter for you.

Adequate? That's not good enough. If our police and justice system is simply adequate, they have room for improvement.

Cops don't protect me. The courts don't serve me.

Cops today serve and collect. They're an after the fact response. They're slow responders and seemingly more likely to charge the property defender than the criminal. The cases of late have shown, police standing by in the G20,riots. Cops brutalizing peaceful demonstrators, refusing to give evidence, and at times complicit in covering up or fabricating evidence.

Adequate. Hardly acceptable. even our Mounties are getting a failing grade.

Then take a look at the native criminal acts in Caledonia going by the political board, and the illegal sale of tobacco. Adequate, hell they're not doing an acceptable job. They're incompetent and while most are good guys, because of leadership or fear of being hung out to dry, they're over paid for what they do.

I question their need to be shooting a mental case three times when they outnumber the guy 3 t0 1. That's just one questionable case of judgment.

so if they're doing a bad job and have been abusive with their powers...you want to give them MORE power?

Apropos, a google search doesn't show any entry for Justin Trudeau under "Brainy Quotes". ;)

If that's the case, let's talk about how horrible the CBC is. :D

How horrible they are at reporting on the need for Harper’s F-35 to bomb Iran, to ensure our right to cheap Chinese medicine and escort services…….. ;)

you're making shyte up to suit your own purposeful agenda - you incorrectly attach a definite separatist intent/want to Justin Trudeau's words. He did nothing more than offer a despondent reaction to the direction he perceives the country is heading... that if at some, "given time, he believed that Canada was really the Canada of Stephen Harper"....

Sooo, it's okay then, that Trudeau is so utterly intolerant and so contemptuous of the political and social sensibilities of nearly half the country outside Quebec, that he'd want to separate?

Don't be purposely obtuse.... "Winning" the election means having your party win more seats than the CPC gov't. Sheesh. Do I need to paint you a picture?

When (if) this happens, they can introduce all sorts of legislation to right the CPC wrongs....

The point that you're obviously missing is that this is not a tyranny. The governing party is supposed to open the floor to debate and listen to possible amendments, etc. The Conservatives have shut down debate more often than any other party. Harper has even prorogued parliament not to answer questions.

trudeau will become canada's prime minister in the not so distant future. it's been a while since we've had someone so articulate who wasn't afraid to stick to his principles.

That's a good one.

No, there is a vote every 4 years or less...

This is still not reason enough to separate! Get your party elected and form gov't. How were the Libs at accepting opposition ideas and answering questions the last time they were in power? oh right... Chretien.... not so good.... and they stole money from us to give to their buddies...
