Lord knows the rest of the media is all slanted your way. Waddaya want? The entire thing?

Why do you believe that the multi-national corporations that own and control the media have a left-wing bias? Your viewpoint may well be further right than theirs, but that doesn't necessarily make them left wing.

Oliver: Now why did you get two tickets to Chicago when you know that I wanted to spend my honeymoon in Saskatchewan?

Stanley: Well, the man said there was no such place as sus - -Swee - Sas...

I'm saying that I don't believe that that's the appropriate time to introduce partisan politics. It should be an inclusive moment, not a divisive one.

How was he introducing partisan politics on his deathbed? He wasn't addressing people like you.

I'm still waiting to find out why that would be "inappropriate" even if it were true.

That is your opinion, not a fact. I have my opinion and I am entitled to it the same as you. I would just never be so arrogant as to assume my opinions are gospel.

That being said, could you explain to me the right wing bias of the Toronto Star?

What's the point of having opinions if you don't think they're correct?

But I haven't read any refutations of capitalism in the Toronto Star. It cosnsistently toes the corporate line, just like the rest of them.

Let me also assure you that I am not saying this response is one of the most weaselly denials I have ever seen on this board.

Then I am glad we understand each other.

Most people, when they form an opinion on something, are aware enough to realize that they might be wrong. But for some, arrogance gets in the way.

Um, his letter was to CANADIANS. Even people like me. :)

But why is it wrong for a dying person to say something that you disagree with? Can you cite a Miss Manners edict on appropriate deathbed subjects? You have stated and restated that you think it's classless and inappropriate, but I am honestly at a loss to understand the reason for your thinking.

Personally, I think you just hated the man and you were very uncomfortable seeing him praised to the extent that he was.

I'm sure they have HD too. They keep advertising they have a Fibe channel.

Even if it was in HD I wouldn't watch dirtbags like Adler, Levant or the "hot" (but classless and rude) woman who ambushed the dancer-lady.

oh... bummer...

it's not HD... I don't do non-HD channels...

FOX NEWS isn't in HD, and when I was watching Shepherd Smith, I noticed it.

This doesn't deserve its own thread, but the citizenship ceremony that SUN News broadcast in the fall was actually a bunch of federal bureaucrats posing as new citizens.

Six federal bureaucrats were drafted to pose as new Canadians for a citizenship reaffirmation ceremony broadcast on the Sun News network, an event requested by Immigration Minister Jason Kenney's office.

Can it be any more obvious that SUN is the mouthpiece for Conservative propaganda and lobbying? How could anyone take this as a serious news source and not see it for the trash tabloid garbage that it really is?

This is actually more damning to the CPC than it is to Sun News. Apparently they didn't even know that people were just picked out of the air. Maybe they should have done their research but it was just a photo-op reallly.

If you ever watch Ezra Levant's show he's hardly an apologist for the CPC.

Here is the difference between Sun and CBC:

"My overall impression of the experience is that it was a significant amount of work for a lot of people for little results," she wrote. "In the future, I recommend that should (the minister's office) wish to do another in-studio ceremony at Sun TV that it be a full citizenship ceremony instead of a reaffirmation ceremony (I think that we will be more likely to get participants that way), or better yet, that the station send a crew to one of our scheduled ceremonies."

The CBC broadcast an hour-long, full-fledged citizenship ceremony for 75 new Canadians that featured a studio audience, a bagpiper, a retired Mountie in his red serge and local dignitaries. That event, which was broadcast live a day after the Sun's reaffirmation ceremony, had been planned with the department since the summer.

Which one would I prefer to watch.... some fake immigrants taking a fake oath while SUN TV pretends that they are brand new Canadians and LOOK!! None of them are wearing a burqa!!

Or a well planned, well documented event that wasn't fake.

Like I said... he wasn't talking to people like you.

He specifically states, ALL Canadians. :)

Just admit that you're wrong and move on. You'll feel much better.

But why is it wrong

It's wrong because it introduces partisan politics and divisiveness into a situation that shouldn't be about politics and division. It cheapens the moment, rendering it nothing more than political talking points shielded by his death.

It's just really bad form.

They also use Taxpayer funds to purchase porno shows from France.

I just reread the letter (thanks for posting the link) and I'm not seeing where you are getting your panties in a wad? Which part (aside from the restoring Canada's name) was so objectionable?

It's his death, not yours. He can do what he want.

Can you also explain why you think it's equally wrong for you to scorn him for engaging in politics on his deathbed, and yet still do so? Hopefully, on the day you are eventually banned from this forum, the moderators give you one last post to recant all the cheap, divisive things you've said.
