First off, I personally feel that Christians-- and you're certainly not the only one-- who have tried to co-opt public concern about bullying for their own political purposes are among the lowest of the low.

Secondly, your idea that you understand bullying because some boy pulled on your pigtail one time is excellent evidence that you have no freaking clue. You're off on your own little planet.

Third, that you'd make light of something that caused so much grief for my family speaks extremely poorly of you as a person.

As I mentioned, I love the cognitive dissonance of people who on the one hand call for boycotts of JC Penny and Oreo and Home Depot and other businesses that have supported gay rights, but on the other hand howl that people who are boycotting Chick-Fil-A are Persecuting Dan Cathy for his Beliefs™.

It breaks down like this: if I knew that a business was donating a portion of its sales to the KKK, I wouldn't shop there. If I knew that a business was donating a portion of its profits to the New Black Panthers, I wouldn't shop there. Regardless of how tasty their chicken sandwiches were.

Chick-Fil-A isn't funding the KKK or the New Black Panthers. Instead, they're funding the American Family Association and the Family Research Council. Just about as bad.

I’ve wondered as of late why it is the “religious right” as a voting block tends to actually support the political right……..I mean most of the views espoused by Christianity (and I suppose Judaism and Islam too) on charity, loving thee neighbour, helping the poor/elderly/sick etc and namely subjugating & deferring oneself to a “Higher Power” to solve your day-to-day woes and problems, be it some magic guy up in the sky, or some magic guy(s) in Washington/Ottawa/State & Provincial capitals/Union boss etc……….

So, why do Dan Cathy and so many Christians support radical groups like AFA and FRC?

It's not like these are obscure little groups. AFA has almost 200 radio stations, hundreds of employees, hundreds of thousands of subscribers, and an annual budget in the tens of millions. FRC is an arm of "Focus on the Family" which is far larger than AFA. Maybe Christian extremism is more powerful in America than some would like to admit.

Here's more of AFA mouthpiece Bryan Fischer, explaining how Rep. Akin is the real victim.

Strange. I could've sworn "witnessing" directly to you would be the last thing you'd want me or anyone to do.....and yet Kimmy's so quick to invoke it, along with her supporters.

I witnessed Kimmy's "lightheartedness" (to put it kindly) on the issue of bullying when it came to a Christian girl. Even now as we speak, there is no remorse over that coldblooded comment she's made.

Blackdog and Dre talks about coherence and logic, but it isn't I who's incoherent and illogical.

How ironic that those are the very things I was pointing out - among other things - about Kimmy.

How does the parents of Rachel feel reading the vicious savageries aimed at their daughter? I am still disturbed by them...still angry and outraged by them! And I don't even know her!

Rhetorics and violent imageries, they take on a new light when we think of our own children as the cast of characters in these imageries. The innocence of Rachel in her joyful belief in Jesus....the innocence of our children in their joyful pursuit of Hockey. The impact of savagery is more than just disturbing...it grabs your heart...it becomes frightening....when we picture our own children in the shoes of Rachel.

Good grief. I don't think a few comments about slapping her qualify as "vicious savagery".

If little Rachel's parents read those comments, perhaps they'll think twice about having her roll up on complete strangers with advice about how to live.-k

On a more serious note... Insulting people, mocking people, belittling people, saying falsehoods about people (also known as lying) is bad enough, and I will not claim I am not guilty of it on occasions. But as a Christian, I have the basic decency, and respect for God and His word, not to go wrapping myself in the Bible and play the martyr whenever my targets react.
