It was definitely closer to what I've been hoping for. The whole "kid needs surgery" should have been clipped to a minor side story, and spent more time (and effort) on the high school thing...you know...with zombies.

I'm continually amazed why they would focus on Dale for more time than, say, a zombie getting a head shot. He adds nothing to the story thus far (except for maybe two minutes at the CDC). Surprisingly, I'm starting to like red-neck-boy more and more. Damn Albertans - really grow on ya. Daryl will be a lot more central to the main plot if the producers know what they're doing.

Now Shane in the escape scene...........oh ya baby! Now THAT'S what I'm talking about. "Me instead of you" - I think if this scenario really happened (zombie apocalypse), we'd be seeing a hell of a lot more of that kind of attitude than most feel comfortable admitting. If the shows makers keep up this kind of intensity, this is certainly going to kick ass over last season.

Just need a few more zombies.

On the Talk show they have afterwards they acknowledged last week's episode was simply a character development episode. I guess sometimes you kind of need that.

I think Dale is an interesting character, He's like your smart grandfather. But I HATE this B-story of them searching for this effing girl. I HATE IT! They need to find that girls carcass and moof on.

The Zombie pinata scene with pretty interesting. You can imagine that kind of stuff happening during a zombie apocalypse.

Boy, for a zombie apocalypse there's no shortage of power and hot water out in the country. Not to mention the rather sanguine approach to security at the farmhouse. Country is crawling with zombies? NBD, we have a fence!

That little girl better be at the vanguard of the inevitable zombie assault on the farmhouse. And I hope she eats Carl's face.

You should really read the comics.

Apparently there's a fence surrounding the farm. As long as there aren't loud noises to attract the zombies they would have no reason to break down the fence. Glenn and T-Doge maid mention of it when the drive up to the farm and meet Maggie again.

Ever hear of Generators BTW? The highways are covered with abandoned cars.

Carl's a main character for sometime to come. However (spoiler alert) Lori's days are number. :D

I plan to, but what's that got to do with anything? Or is it that the show is so aggressively stupid

Loud noises like gunshots or other signs like the glowing bright lights of the farmhouse?

Ever hear of Generators BTW? The highways are covered with abandoned cars.

Be that as it may, they aren't exactly too concerned with rationing.

Well, Shane's were supposed to be as well, yet he's still being a dick.

BTW BD I get you don't like the show, why do you still watch?

This was my last week I reckon. I'll still follow the recaps to see if there's any improvement (or, more likely, to see how much dumber it gets). I reckon I'll start watching American Horror Story instead.

Great question. Most people have better things to do with their lives than watch a show they claim to hate, and then also post online about it.

It's kind of silly to argue the science behind Zombies but ain't it fun.

I'm sure a being that's only functions at a base instinct level probably can't understand the significance of light at a distance. In this case it could be a few a hundred yards.

And perhaps Maggie was out there keeping watch. Do you expect them to be pacing infront of the farmhouse like they were guarding Buckinham Palace.

Regarding the comic, I just say that because some of the questions you have are answered by reading that. That's all. In the edition of the comic I recently read they explain the Zombie's heard mentality.

As for the lights, It'd be pretty crappy TV if everything was done by candle light, so I'll let them pass.

Good point! It reminds me of people that complain about Star Wars and Star Trek not being realistic.

The point is, even fantasy universes need a set of ground rules. Otherwise, why should anyone give a shit if they keep shifting the goalposts to cover up their own ineptitude as storytellers?

They seem pretty attuned to noise, to scent; why not light?

Like they were in Atlanta or at the school that Shane and Fatty went to?

It's a pretty shit show that requires someone to consult separate media to get a sense of what's going on.

I dunno. Game of Thrones manages to do okay in a world lit only by fire.

Better things to do like read threads in discussion forums on subject matter they claim not to care about and post a running stream of masturbation jokes?

Naw, what kind of shitbag troll would do that?

Aw, did I hurt your feelings? Sorry.

Anyways, taking 10 seconds to shoot off a post in a forum I'm already posting in is much different than spending an hour watching a show you claim to hate, and then coming on line denouncing said show. That just seems like more masturbation. You might be an addict.

So it looks like we're back to "Every second show shall suck."

Maybe by about mid-third season, the story will have progressed off of this stupid farm.

Maybe.

Herchel has a barn full of Zombies that the group is supposed to find, which will be cool when they show it.

I'm freakin sick of them looking for that girl Sophia.

The point of having the soldiers turn out to be scumbags was to show the essential commonalities between the infected and regular folk.

civility among survivors in a scenario like that where all public order has disappeared has been estimated at two weeks...

it's become typical of so many shows, terra nova is another, each week you can count on some kid not to do as he/she has been told "stay here and don't move" or "don't go outside"...really in a world full of dinosaurs or zombies and my mom or dad tells me to stay put, I ain't moving ever until they tell me to!...sophia deserves to be eaten just so the show can move on, her mom too, needy whiney people need to be eaten!

As for that "humans showing their true side thing" If it stays with the comic's narrative that should show up with what Herchel's actually been doing with the zombies and what happens when they leave his farm.

i watched the zombies side of things on netflicx..."ahhhh Zombies", not an great flick but it was from the zombies point of view, they have no idea they're zombies and can't understand why people are attacking them...

I just watched season 1 of walking dead on DVD, and I really liked it.

THe problem is I refuse to watch any TV commercials at all, so I rented the DVD. Now I have to wait a year before I can watch season 2.

As for the realism.... its a zombie movie!

I was pissed though when he was trapped in the tank and didnt even try to start it up, while the huge crowd of zombies was eating his horse. Crowd of zombies + large track driven vehicle = :D

I question things because I am human. And call no one my father who's no closer than a stranger

Say hello to Media Player dvr. Wait an hour, skip a lot.

Actually, I find the realism about as good as it gets for a zombie flick (or series as it were). It's just the damn pace...I'll be dead by the time the story moves on.

And when I am, I plan on finding that producer......

Okay then. So I'm not the only one who watched that and thought "this would be like starving to death while trapped in a grocery store". I mean, a tank? And you're...trapped? In a tank? Seriously?

No shit. C'mon - they go to town and it's freakin deserted; not a townsfolk in sight anywhere. And they "artistically" show that stupid barn in the background of every shot on the farm. And boy was it a surprise how Herschel reacted to the offer for the group to move down beside it. Really surprising. I don't read comics and I can see this one coming a mile away.

I'm freakin sick of them looking for that girl Sophia.

We are ALL sick of the Sophia story. And her mother truly needs to be eaten. Maybe her whining and moaning would lessen if she were undead instead of just annoying.

I'm not at all convinced that civility would last half that long. When it becomes that desperate, I'm pretty sure it would become "me or you" really quick.

It would for me. Mind you, I'm not a very nice person to start with.

I think civilization would collapse as we know it in mere days. And I'm not sure that zombies would be your biggest threat - try thinking enemies. There are enough heavy duty buildings out there and enough firepower to hold out a very long time. Not to mention, most of us don't live in Buhtfucque, Nowhere so there's a much better chance of survival in a lot of cases (mine for example).

thought that but then we could assume 1-it had no fuel, 2 dead battery, 3 having recently watched a program on driving a tank starting it is a complex procedure that requires a precise order...

it would depend on the totality of collapse...if total first you eat the neighbours cats and dogs then you eat the neighbours...
