Dick Cheney and War crimes

Recommended Posts

We should arrest the US ambassador since he represents the State that permitted these war crimes, no?

Following your logic, if Hitler in 1943 visited Vancouver to sell his autobiography, we should have arrested him. And since Hitler didn't visit, we should have arrested the German ambassador instead! (Was there a German ambassador in Ottawa in 1943? Does Google go back that far?)

Ah, we were at war with Germany in 1943.

Dick Cheney, unapologetic, defies Vancouver protesters

Waterboarding is not torture, he insisted, and the grim procedure, which Mr. Cheney calls “an enhanced interrogation technique,”

United Nations Convention Against Torture

Article 1
1. For the purposes of this Convention, the term "torture" means any act by which severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on a person for such purposes as obtaining from him or a third person information or a confession, punishing him for an act he or a third person has committed or is suspected of having committed, or intimidating or coercing him or a third person, or for any reason based on discrimination of any kind, when such pain or suffering is inflicted by or at the instigation of or with the consent or acquiescence of a public official or other person acting in an official capacity. It does not include pain or suffering arising only from, inherent in or incidental to lawful sanctions.
2. This article is without prejudice to any international instrument or national legislation which does or may contain provisions of wider application.

It seems under this government their is a double standard on who can and can't come in to this country. Both, Cheney have criminal records and were let in, but when other with the same are not permitted to enter. The latest is the entertainer Russell who is married to Kathy Perry, who was to appear at the Indian Casino Rama outside of Toronto. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2044278/Russell-Brand-First-Japan-Canada-denies-entry-comedian.html

God is already punishing Cheney - How would you like to be walking around like a human machine with a batter pack strapped to your chest....I would say Cheney is getting his ...he has already entered a hell and is on walking life support..totally dependant for his next breath on science...Not God ---- in the end - science will reach it's limit and Cheney knows that..he is on death row - a very fancey one but ---he will be executed - in time..and not by any human hand.

Fantastic video in the OP. From the OP ABC article link:

Wilkerson levels a serious charge that he believes Powell was misled before going to the United Nations in 2003, beginning the march to war in Iraq.

"I think he was misled by the DCI [Director of Central Intelligence] George Tenet, by the deputy DCI John McLaughlin and by the vice president of the United States who had put Tenet and McLaughlin under such pressure that they dared not respond except with the message that the vice president wanted them to respond with," Wilkerson said. "[Cheney] had been out there [to the CIA] a dozen times to put his personal imprint on George Tenet, John McLaughlin and others so that they would know positively what he wanted, and what he wanted was war with Iraq."

I've also heard this charge from people within the CIA at the time. They said they NEVER before saw a VP visit the CIA beyond cutting a ribbon for a ceremony.

Cheney is a criminal, and by psychological definition i would argue he fits most of the characteristics of a sociopath/psychopath. The man should be barred from Canada because we don't need morally deficient criminals in this country, or if not barred let him come in and have him arrested and tried for war crimes, along with a few other of his cronies.

I believe in the rule of law, and if you break it, no matter if you're Cheney, Obama, Harper, Mugabe, or the freaking Dalai Lama, you should be held to account.

No you don't, or you would also be calling PMs Martin and Chretien "war criminals", and demand they be held to account. But you don't...and won't.
