Boges Posted July 27, 2011 Author Report Posted July 27, 2011 The Detroit Lions actually have the makings of a good team. Being in the bottom 5 so many years in a row will do sthat. Their QB Matt Stafford needs to stay healthy though. Quote

But the post-Matt Millen era has done much better in picking up good talent. Ndamukong Suh and Nick Farrier will make their defense very formidable. I'm not saying they're willing the Super Bowl this year, but they aren't the bottom feeders they have been. Quote

Their QB Matt Stafford needs to stay healthy though. Exactly. If Stafford stays healthy, they can make the playoffs for sure. They have a front office now that actually drafts well. Which is probably a nice change from the way things used to be with that idiot Matt Millen. He was a pretty good LB, but a horrible GM. He needs to stick to broadcasting. Quote

They'll be fun to watch. They used to be good during the 90s with Barry Sanders, etc. But since then, they've been horrible. That being said. There isn't a single BC Lions player that's good enough to make the Detroit Lions roster, let alone any other NFL roster. So yep, the real Lions are in the NFC North. Quote

The CFL's best Defensive player a few years ago was a BC Lion. He's a great player for the Miami Dolphins right now: Cam Wake. A Defensive CFLer making it to the NFL is very rare though. Yukon Jack Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 I don't see why there aren't at least 3 more teams, if not 4, 5, or 6. There are enough big cities to make it work. As long as the games are FREE on TV. Quote

You actually think the Detroit Lions will make the playoffs this year in the division they are in? What 9 or 10 games do you think they will win? Lions 2011 Schedule Quote

What 9 or 10 games do you think they will win? Lions 2011 Schedule I definitely think they have a decent shot at a playoff spot. Probably a wildcard. In terms of games I think they can win, I'd go with the following: I think they'll split with Green Bay again, just like last year. I think they'll split with Chicago, just like last year. I think they'll beat Minnesota twice, since they as of yet, don't have a real starting quarterback. Do they still have Tavaris Jackson? I think they'll beat KC, which is in Detroit. I think they'll beat Carolina, which is in Detroit. I think they'll beat SF, which is in Detroit. Is Alex Smith still their starting QB? Yikes! That's 7 wins. I see them winning at least 2 of the following 6 games: At Tampa Bay, they beat Tampa in Tampa last year. At Oakland. At Dallas, they're always overrated. Home to Atlanta, that'll be the toughest though. At Denver. Home to San Diego. That would give them 9 wins, and a solid chance at a wildcard spot. Will they do it? Who knows. Can they? Definitely. Do they still have Tavaris Jackson? Minnesota will sign a veteran starting QB in Donovan McNabb....the big problem is that they also lost WR Sydney Rice to free agency (Seattle). T-Jack also went to Seattle. Edited July 29, 2011 by bush_cheney2004 Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Donovan McNab is supposed to sign with the Vikes...I would'nt be so quick at calling a sweep of Minnesota... These are, afterall, the permaloser Lions who always find a way to lose... A spilt with the Bears??? As much as the 2nd game in Detroilettte last year was a revenge game for what happened in Chicago in week one (The Calvin Johnson TD that was taken away),The Bears need to,and probably (hopefully) will make the Permalosers pay for Ndamakong Sue's attempt at decapitating Jay Cutler from behind... Perhaps seperating the very frail Matt Stafford's shoulder for the 3rd time in 4 years? 9-7 (wishful Detroilette thinking) is probably going to make the Losers 3rd in that division...No Wildcard with that record... Suh took a very cheap shot at Jay Cutler last year and hopefully payback is coming for the permaloser Lions.. Shady Posted July 29, 2011 Report Posted July 29, 2011 Suh took a very cheap shot at Jay Cutler last year and hopefully payback is coming for the permaloser Lions.. It wasn't a cheap shot at all. Stop being a baby about it. All he did was push him to the ground while Culter was trying to run for some yards. Are all Bears fans pussies? Or is it just you? This is a team that has'nt got a sniff of a championship since the mid-'50's when Bobby Lane was their QB... It ain't happenin' for them any time soon.... Really? So playing in the NFC championship game in the 90s isn't a sniff of a champtionship? Get real. You're just upset that the Bears will probably finish last in their division this year. Their old, and their quarterback throws more interceptions than completions to his own team! Quote
Boges Posted July 29, 2011 Author Report Posted July 29, 2011 I'd just like to point out that Jay Cutler is a big sissy. He's an Emo QB. The Bears just traded one of their top receivers to the Panthers yesterday too. Quote

guyser Posted July 29, 2011 Report Posted July 29, 2011 (edited) Interesting discussion last night on McKown's show on Sportsnet where they discussed the CFL vs NFL with their American based business editor. Points made were... -if played by CFL rules , CFL team would win more than lose, and vice versa if NFL rules. Reasons for that are the 1 yrd rule, 3 downs, size of the field. Seems the agility of linemen in the NFL would be a downside for the 1 yrd and for the size of the field. The biggest problem would be the American coaches would be lost.
