Boges Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 Well that was predictable and a little cheesy, but by golly I still thought it was cool. -k The Dragon flying into a stadium and protecting Dany and Co. was cheesy? REALLY!? Lots of stuff happened there. Dude that Tywin would have liked got killed, Tyrion saved Missandei and Jorah is clearly back in the fold. Who saw that coming, if you hadn't read the book. I haven't seen the interwebs response but I'm expecting rage about Ser Meryn wanting little girls (BTW who called that Arya is going to find him?) and Shireen getting sacrificed will be what people are talking about and not that really cool end of the episode. IMHO that was a fantastic episode. Quote

Tyrion was worth rooting for and so was the death of Joff and Cersei, plus Stannis wasn't nearly as despicable then. kimmy Posted June 9, 2015 Report Posted June 9, 2015 Stannis is an honorable man who is willing to do horrific things to become king. The Boltons are horrible people who are willing to do horrific things any time and all the time. It's hard to feel good about Stan after what he just did, but if I were a citizen of the North, there's no doubt who I'd prefer to have on the throne in Winterfell. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)

IMHO that was a fantastic episode. We've had two pretty extravagant episodes in a row. I'm thinking the next one might be even bigger. Usually the last episode of the season provides some denouement, wrap up some odds and ends, and set up the next season... but we should get the clash between Stannis and the Boltons, some significant development in the Sansa story in one direction or another, possibly involving Brienne and maybe the return of Littlefinger. Plus! There's also the events in King's Landing to settle. Will Cersei manage to weasel out of this? Will Tommen sic Ser Pounce on the High Sparrow? Will Jaime and his "niece" return to King's Landing to find civil war or total chaos? There's two major storylines that will need to be addressed and just one episode left. I expect it will be eventful to say the least. Dany's face as she watched Jorah on the brink of getting killed, several times, said that she cares about him, and that she probably always knew in her heart that he wasn't a traitor. Tyrion's reaction was interesting, urging her to stop the fight to protect Jorah. Considering Jorah abducted him and punched his face in, and wouldn't give him wine, and was a miserable traveling companion, "long sullen silences and the occasional punch in the face: the Mormont Way." Tyrion's compassion for Jorah was ... I wouldn't say surprising, but pretty magnanimous. Tyrion is a shrewd judge of character, and I think he quickly gauged that Jorah was a good guy. I think from watching Tyrion's face as he tried to process what he was witnessing, he probably understood the awe Jorah described earlier this season when he recounted the day he watched Dany walk into the fire and emerge unscathed with baby dragons on her shoulders. I assume that Dany is going to implement some sort of putsch against the noble houses of Mereen to settle this once and for all. As Dr Bashir said earlier in the episode, "I believe in second chances... but I don't believe in third chances." I can't remember the names of these characters. I can only remember them as "Dr Bashir" and "Indira Varma". Dany gave them a 2nd chance on the day when she didn't feed them all to her dragons. They repay her kindness with a terror attack and assassination attempt. I suspect she has run out of patience with those guys. I somehow doubt we've seen the last of Indira, or Oberyn's daughters. I did like the resolution of the Bronn situation. I'm surprised that Jaqen didn't smack Arya's face when she told him "the thin man wasn't hungry". I'm wondering if Trant's taste for "younger" women will prove fatal. Arya could surely come up with a suitable disguise... -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)

The Shireen stuff was yet another data point on this shows essential and predictable nihilism. Jon's inevitable death (or near death) in the next episode will be the next. Quote

I think Greyscale is only transferrable by touching the infected area. He still only has it on his fore-arm and he's wearing a guard of somekind. I think the bigger issue about the dragon thing is how big a douche move is it to leave the people that were protecting you high and dry. Quote

kimmy Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 One thing that surprised me was Alister Thorne opening the gate, and his comment to Snow. I fully expected him to go mutineer rather than let the wildlings through. He'd have had plenty of support. Air Drogon I know that the dragon is named after his late "daddy" Khal Drogo, but I have to wonder if GRRM actually ever said that out loud before writing it. Drogon the Dragon. Really? If she bails on the city, she's back to square one and everyone left behind is shit out of luck. She won't bail on the city. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)

kimmy Posted June 15, 2015 Report Posted June 15, 2015 Btw, fan theories are funny. Interesting video, good analysis of the theory. When I watched the first season of GoT, I was surprised that they didn't even included Roose Bolton among Robb Stark's group of leading bannermen. They had an unwieldy number of bannermen, and made "the Greatjon" character a composite for several of them; I think Lord Karstark and perhaps the Glovers were also made distinct characters. I had been reading the first book, and even without knowing what was to follow, it was clear even in the first book that Roose was key member of Robb's group. Robb's decisive victory over the Lannister army at Riverrun was largely a result of Roose being able to command a small group of forces to great effect to harass the Lannisters, deceiving them as to the size and location of the northern forces while Robb took the bulk of the northerners to slam shut the trap at Riverrun. Littlefinger said he believes Stannis will triumph because he is the best general in Westeros, but Roose is no slouch. Roose, in the first book, was described as a soft-spoken man of few words who, nonetheless, when he did decide to speak, everybody shut up and listened. When Robb's army arrive at the Twins and find that Walder will not let them through, Robb and his other generals speculate about taking the Twins by force. Roose, speaking of the Twins, says: "That, my lords, is unassailable". Discussion ends. No further discussion of seizing the Twins. Catelyn goes off on her own to negotiate with Walder for passage. The Roose we see on the show is quite close to how I pictured him as I read the first book. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
-1=e^ipi Posted June 15, 2015 Report Posted June 15, 2015 Who cares? So many problems in the world and you concern yourself with a silly TV show. Many of societies problems resemble problems in the TV series/books. Quote
-1=e^ipi Posted June 15, 2015 Report Posted June 15, 2015 Littlefinger said he believes Stannis will triumph because he is the best general in Westeros, but Roose is no slouch. I'm not so sure. There is a good chance that Melisandre is misinterpreting her visions from R'hllor because she wants to believe that Stannis is Azor Ahai. I could see overconfidence by Melisandre/Stannis leading to their downfall. Though I think more likely is that Stannis barely wins, but Roose flees to the Dreadfort, and there conflict will continue. I doubt it will just be a single battle and then one of the two is victorious. Quote
