Calling for the destruction of Israel is anti-Semitic. I'm not going to waste much time explaining that. It is our vehicle from self-determination and cultural preservation. It is our instrument of independence.

Just because someone concludes their diatribe or rhetoric with, "I want to make it clear that I don't hate all Jews", doesn't change anything. Moreover, as I explained in another thread not to long ago, one can express anti-Semitic perspectives and not be aware that they're anti-Semitic. Is that really so hard to understand? You think racists and bigots normally have a self-concept of themselves as racists an bigots?

It's nice that you had a good trip and pleasant experiences with Egyptians. I've also met great Egyptians in Canada. Still, I wouldn't be assume that the Egyptians I met in Canada (all well-to-do and educated, which is why they're over there and not living in Cairo) are representative of a broad segment of the Egyptian population.

According to the poll I linked, Egyptians are quite puritanical with their Islamic perspectives, and have significant sympathies for anti-Semitic terrorist organizations.

Come on guys stay on topic. This derailing crap happens in many threads by the usual suspects.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-12331520

This is what happens when people lose everything, they lose it. Just as Jerald Celente predicted.

Mubarak must go, and we must stand with the people and let them create their own future.

Not if their future negatively affects me and mine. I have one primary barometer for determining what I support - how will it affect the Jewish people and Israel? That question is answered first, before addressing secondary questions. If their wishes put me and mine at risk, I'll oppose their wishes.

I am sure you have proof of this, Bob. Spit it out. This is not about Israel, this is about Egypt.

I don't hate all jews, but I am starting to hate you.

You are a bigot yourself, even though you might not realize it.

According to the poll I linked, Egyptians are quite puritanical with their Islamic perspectives, and have significant sympathies for anti-Semitic terrorist organizations.

Polls don't mean squat. The tens of thousands that took to the streets do.

Here's the thing though - you're deliberately obtuse, you toss out inflammatory one-liners and refuse to clarify what they mean, doing a song and dance to avoid actually articulating a rational opinion on anything, and then when we're forced to draw conclusions because you won't explain yourself, you point the finger and say we're putting words in your mouth.

Correct...I do not enjoy the verbal diarrhea as much as you do. Pithy hits are more my style, and very effective given your passionate contortions.

You're a troll, and everything is a joke. My only mistake was giving you the benefit of the doubt like I do everyone else and assuming you were for real.

Yes...you were a fool...again.

Frankly, it's becoming clear that you don't mean anything you actually say.

You are also very repetitive.

I mean, you've called me elitist about 4 times now, and every time I say: "great, now quote me directly on that and demonstrate, constructing an argument, how I'm an elitist" and you just repeat the accusation. So really, you don't think I'm an elitist, you're just trying to piss me off - otherwise you'd back it up.

...ibid.

My motivation for coming on this board when I was a regular for a year or so used to really be about having debates, refining my arguments and learning from other perspectives.

Then we chased you away.

Your motivation is simply to piss people off for your own pleasure with behaviour ranging from obnoxious to outright bigotry (No? You don't think you do that? Short memory . . . Making fun of natural disasters in developing countries, or dismissing those people's suffering isn't rooted in bigotry?) You might be playing a character - but that isn't a free pass on racist ish - you wouldn't tolerate some random person making harsh racist jokes about black folks in your presence just because he said he was joking.

I give as much as I get...it is great fun.

People who enjoy being a-holes always, always either have problems socializing or feel neglected in some way (ie - no one listened or paid attention when they were a kid) this is absolute basic psychology here, nothing radical. So I get you - you have problems, that's why you post here and do what you do - because it's easier than dealing with your own ish on your own time (of course, nothing gets improved that way either).

LOL...are you still rambling?

You can deny this, but posting records don't lie - you're here all the time, you NEED this. On the other hand, I can leave for a year and return only out of curiosity to see if anything's changed, or if people like you are still doing their shtick.

Then please go away again...it was so nice...much better than "Ignore".

So by all means, continue the routine, I'll be gone in a day or two. The records clearly show you need this way more than most of us do.

I will...I don't need your elitist permission. Go whine someplace else. Pathetic!

Talking to yourself, are you? I've said from the beginning of this issue: So many posters here seem to think they know so much about everything, but all of their so-called knowledge boils down to "blame the U.S. for anything/everything bad." link So, what I said is finally sinking in, is it?

I've been on Canadian forums for about ten years, so I'm guessing the trend on this forum likely isn't any different from the trend elsewhere. The difference is before it was predominantly under the guise of being anti-Bush, not anti-American. Now that people can't hide under the premise of "hating Bush/blaming Bush," the anti-American sentiment is much less subtle. And really, that's not just "certain members on this board," who too often, btw, are the majority of the members responding. I fear it's a trend, and as I said previously, I hate to see ill feelings destroy the good relationship our countries have always enjoyed. I would hate to see good neighbors feeling ill will towards each other. And as I also said, the "blame America" mindset solves nothing.

First, let me apologize for that earlier post to you (you know the one)... It was childish and uncalled for...

A view from the other side:

As you know I'm new here but have spent considerable time, although not lately, on US forums in particular the Hannity Forums during those Bush years you mention... I have experienced a LOT of the worst rhetoric and anti-anybody that isn't American sucks (put as politely as I can) attitude you can imagine... I loved it... That's why I was there... It was to "battle" all that avarice towards the world and educate some of the biggest morons your great country has to offer to society at large... I was only on two forums there, Hannity's War forum, and the US Political forum... I never "attacked" anyone first and had a great time while I was there... I was there pretty much for the same reasons, I believe, BC is here...

On this board I don't really know anyone yet, at least not well enough to determine whether or not they are anti-American, which I can assure you I certainly am not, or people playing around, one can tell... As I've told you before, it's a forum, it's not in the least representative of real life, real world attitudes towards the United States, at least not to me... I certainly see (real life) a whole lot more anti-Obama, anti-Democrat (outside the US it would be interpreted as anti-American) sentiment inside the US than outside the US... Then there's bush_cheney and I'm quite sure a number of other American posters on here, perhaps even you, that are constantly, at least to some, expressing an anti-Canadadian attitude... So is it a surprise to you that Canadians defending Canada on a Canadian forum in the same way Americans defend the US on American forums may come across to an American as being anti-American? Oh sure, there are some, but I'm guessing fairly few (those that don't know much about the US, US-Canada relations, etc.) that really are anti-American, but for the most part simply anti-American-poster-on-a-Canadian-boardans...

So I have to ask you is -

"Now that people can't hide under the premise of "hating Bush/blaming Bush," the anti-American sentiment is much less subtle. And as I also said, the "blame America" mindset solves nothing."

- being anti-Canadian? NOT in your view, but in ours... It certainly could seem so... To us Canadians that's Blaming us Canadians for members/posters like bush_cheney et al goading us... Pulling our chains if you will...

Think about it... Then carry on and have some FUN on the Mapleleafweb, eh, you crazy yank...

There are none so blind, deaf and dumb as those that fail to recognize, understand, and promote TRUTH...- GWiz

Are you suggesting that Mubarak should stay?

No, I'm suggesting that all of these phony tears don't work in the face of history. Canada (like the USA), supported Mubarak and previous regimes in Egypt big time, and with big money. Another member fell into a logical trap when he claimed that it was American military aid that helped oppress the Egyptians....because the same aid was provided this year, and last year, and the year before that, yet Egyptians waited until now to protest? What changed?

Do you know what really caused the revolt? Food prices and economic woes (i.e. unemployment), just like the food riots of before in Egypt. It ain't complicated.

It would probably have helped if Obama had kept his promise to close down the POW camp you're still maintaining in Guantanamo.

BTW you might take note that I've repeatedly said we're with you, always have been.

Since you're playing the denial game, let's go over the chronology of events here:

<snipped for brevity>

Am I wrong? You've stated before that human rights and democratic principles are nice, but really the US is only concerned with retaining it's status as superpower, and if it can kill two birds with one stone - great. But it's not about to give up power in the name of morals or ethics.

So - if you could wipe out a few million Saudis and seize the oil fields with a new nano super weapon, would you?

I can't believe I read the whole thing!

Post of the year mate. Congratulations!

Thanks for clarifying your position. When people are disenfranchised as they have been in Egypt and there is rampant corruption and rigged elections, buttressed by financial support from external entities, these events are to be expected. The demonstrations today are peaceful and I am sure you will agree that it might be time for a new order in Egypt which recognizes fundamental human rights and the rule of law.

It was Egypt - that created Christianity...not Judea. It was Egypt that was the birthplace of civilzation...and Egypt must not go the way of Iraq..>I suggest that all those interlopers that want to get in on the action simply F off and mind their own buisness - and let the family of Egypt work out it's own problems and evolve naturally from within...This buisness of oil stocks going up because of the fear of the closing of the cannal shows the great perversity of our monetary system...shame on those that gather wealth though the mayhem and misfortune of others...America and the evil EU should keep their dirty hands off of Egypt...and so should the Islamic hooligan gangsters.

Maybe Israel needs to learn to get along with it's neighbours. There is a price to pay for being a bully.

Would YOU get along with people who had such views?

It is an inverted moral calculus that tries to persuade the world to demonize one state that tries its civilized best to abide in a difficult time and place, and rides merrily by the examples and practices of dozens of states and leaderships that drop into brutality every day without a twinge of regret or a whisper of condemnation. - Rex Murphy

With respect, this is a country in which even Christians are persecuted. The fact Jews are virtually all gone from Egypt also bespeaks the level of discomfort they suffered while still in residence.

Perhaps your hosts were happy at you being a Jew after you had already expressed their solidarity with their views. I have noticed that many groups, especially the most radical, in terms of their hatred of Israel, love to find Jews to agree with them. It's sort of like the Republican Party proud of their few Blacks.

To suggest these people bear no animosity towards Jews in general given the cultural primitiveness expressed in their support for stoning and executions over religious and moral crimes possess a sense of enlightenment and religious tolerance strikes me as highly unlikely.

That would depend upon my assessment of the circumstances and whether I felt threatened.

Would you befriend a man who felt women were chattel and should be killed if they transgressed his moral code?

Save that kind of reply for BC and kind... American Woman has done nothing to deserve it...

Ditto. AW is not Bush-Cheney 2004. One is an intelligent, gutsy and caring poster. The other is not.

More interesting statistics from the Pew Research poll - 82% of Egyptians favour stoning those who commit adultery, 77% support cutting the hands off of those persons who commit theft/robbery, and 84% support the death penalty against those who leave Islam. Positive perspectives of these rioters/protestors don't seem to square with this information.

I think that shows that foreign aid money is largely wasted. How do you economically "develop" an area where the people's inclination are in that direction?

This isn't a person who I would seek out as a friend. I know of a number of individuals who apparently embrace Christianty and who seem to see both wife and children as property.

This is very short sighted, and displays an ignorance about the purpose of US economic, military, and humanitarian aid. You have to play to win.
