Ok.

I notice that a lot of people here do not live in the GTA so let me try to get you to understand how it's like.

1/4 of all of Canada's population is within a very short radius of the GTA so this place does matter.

Living here feels a lot like the 3rd world. It's a sh*t hole. It's dirty, stinky, crowded, and filled with languages you cannot understand.

Seeing people wearing pajamas's and ethnic rags is a DAILY occurrence. You will see this all day. It's not just a 1 day thing.

A common sight to see are LOTS of elderly from the 3rd world wandering around and walking down sidewalks. This is not just once a day you will see this many times per day. They can be from China, Philippines, and the majority yes seemingly Sikh's with Turbans and long white beards walking around in rags is VERY common.. Where I live over half of everyone who lives here was born in another country. Almost all of these houses have an elderly relative from the 'old country' living with them and they are ALL OVER the streets here. Sometimes I think our sidewalks are reserved only for elderly immigrants. Women are almost always in full ethnic costume (not the nice kind either.. the worn rags).

Hospitals? I wont go into it because it personally gives me anxiety and upsets me so much but just read the above and put 2 and 2 together.

Driving here is a nightmare. You will have speed variance that you have never seen in your life. Speed variance is the leading cause of accidents thus we have MUCH more than anywhere else and our insurance is very expensive. One lane will be going fast, then the other just comes to an abrupt stop for NO apparent reason. This is due to immigrant driving 99.9% of the time. There are aliens from other countries who simply do NOT know how to drive and should not be on the roads. They do the most illogical things, and cause so much traffic. They also never give way. They drive how they want, when they want, and are in their own bubble with no concern for you. The eastern Europeans can all drive well, but as we all know, these are NOT the people that make up this hell hole.

The people here smell. Go to woodbine racetrack on a weekend and take a wiff of the mostly immigrant crowd. It is gross. The grooming from the people who live here is AWFUL. Going to Montreal is like this sea of beautiful people. Coming here, everyone is very poorly groomed. They don't brush their hair, shower very little, and SMELL. Very similar to the 3rd world.

Finding a job here and keeping it is next to impossible. Racism is *RAMPANT* here at work and you will find racial cliques at work. Don't sit at the Asian table if you aren't Asian. I can make a post just on this but trust me hiring much of the time is done down racial lines and the local job scene here is a complete mess with everyone claiming to have 2 degrees. There is WAY too much supply of labor in this market. Thanks Harper for fixing this. The person who understood what was going on had to attempt to grab for votes instead which will never work so give it up.

If you are single you are not allowed to date people outside your race. The latin bell example is something that may happen in the US, but here you are dealing with stone age cultures, racism, religions, and 3rd world values. The girls parents will never accept you. The boy will date you just to play with you. There are exceptions but very, very rare. Over here, you can only date 'your own'. This is factual and part of the reality of living here. If you are white, you will have a very, very hard time finding someone. Even second generation polish racially segregate. They all do. That's part of living here.

Groups of races segregate everywhere. On the buss, subway, after school, in the mall. It's VERY RARE to see an inter racial group. The muslims and south asians segregate the most. The Jamaicans a lot also. This goes on from middle school all the way to adult hood.

Businesses here constantly go out of business. The retail pricing is high, but no one is shopping at these stores because immigrants to not spend into small business. We got a Mexicala Rosa's here and it folded in a few months. I never thought I would actually see one fold. There are no mexican places in my city but sure enough it folded due to the immigrants not spending into small business (oh that's a factual statement by the way.. this so devastating to our economy that it deserves its own post but I'll move on). Living here the motto is: "If you build it, they WON'T come'.

Over here, things are expensive, yet everyone is poor. Poverty is EVERYWHERE here. It's quite shocking to see just how many low income there are in Toronto proper. I think Toronto had the most poverty in all of Canada/US per major city or some stat like that. The majority of these in poverty are guess who. They live on welfare in apt. buildings with their numerous kids. But when hundreds of thousands of ppl are doing this all across the city, it causes rent prices to go up for those who DO work. As long as vacancies are kept LOW, prices will be HIGH. So when everyone is competing for the same job, the pay for that job goes down. And now, when you need to live day to day, your prices go UP because the amount of immigration creates housing and living bubbles.

Speaking of living. We have apt. buildings here that are racially taken over. I'm absolutely not kidding. We have apt. building for every race. Cambodian even. All the halls always stink like ethnic food and kids screaming are everywhere. Now out in the burbs where I live, basically more than half the houses are immigrant houses. They usually have about 6 people living per house including elderly and the people illegally renting the basement downstairs. It's a very common site to see these people actually PAVE THEIR LAWN to widen their driveway so 3-4 cars can fit in the drive way. They will move into houses they cannot afford, then rent out the basement to help pay for their mortgage. The rest of the bill comes from the tax payer. These houses are always so busy with various people coming and leaving. I should take a picture down one of our streets not far away. You will TONS of course loitering the whole neighborhood. The quality of people are NOT the quality of people that you would associate with being in the burbs. I bought my house from Palestinian's that had TEN.. yes.. TEN people living under this roof.

When you do groceries, there is an animal like behavior from these people that you will encounter as they bud in front of you, walk DIRECTLY in the path, give you no space cushion. No 'thank you' when opening a door for them etc. You do NOT hear English being spoken, I can't stress this enough.

Ok let me give this it's own section. Let me say this again. On Saturday when you go out and about to do your groceries etc, I am telling you, you will NOT hear English being spoken probably the whole day you are out. I became so troubled with this that we now travel out to a neighboring city and we only do our shopping there because there is much more English spoken, Only about a quarter speak a foreign tongue out there which is good. After a couple a years I started to get anxiety over this and started to believe I was living in another country. When I need to go to Wal Mart, I will travel to the next town rather than go to the Wal Mart down the street because it is that bad. When you don't hear English or French being spoken in your 'home', it effects you. Most here do not know how that is like so please don't comment until you experience it for yourself.

Anyhow, we are renovating the house and trying to get out of this hell hole. It will be tough but I want to move to a place we can call home. I just can't take this place anymore. It's worse now than 5 years ago. There is just SO much trash here now. Since Harper came in power it's gotten way worse as he's letting more in faster still chasing his dream of these people voting for him. That will never happen so he should give it up.

If any of you want to know how it's like to live in the GTA, I do believe I painted a very clear picture. Never move here. It's a 3rd wold sh*t hole. So bad now to the point we're trying to leave. That's just not talk that's for real. Places like Quebec, NB, etc are looking real good to us about now and whenever I go to Quebec I am amazed at how everyone speaks French and how they have their own culture and how few immigrants there are. I actually went from hating Quebec to now wanting to move there! Who would have known I'd ever feel like this. Everyone has their breaking points though and I can't take this racial hole anymore. Gee, Mike, it was just last year you were crying that you couldn't get a job because the immigrants have taken them all. And now you own your own home. Sounds like the Canadian dream is alive and well, when even barely-literate morons can afford homes after just a year of work.

No more than most other North American big cities.

Bizarre, I have had quite a different experience.

i live in Toronto...I do not wear pyjamas but I am still in my house coat.

I smell with my nose.

I have never been to the track.

I have been with my firm 19 years this month.

My circle of friends are interracial, some are even Irish. The only Jamaican I know is an architect.

When I was single I used to date woemn outside my race. I fully endorse the concept.

I lived there for two years recently and while I didn't take to it (lived in the club district = nightmare) your superlatives describe more about your state of mind than the city proper. Thanks for sharing.

There's a ton of non-chain Mexican places in T.O. I've found several in a month of living here. you wouldn't like them, though: they tend to be run by *gasp!* immigrants.

Over here, things are expensive, yet everyone is poor. Poverty is EVERYWHERE here. It's quite shocking to see just how many low income there are in Toronto proper. I think Toronto had the most poverty in all of Canada/US per major city or some stat like that.

Yeah, I'm gonna call bullshit on that "statistic". I'm betting Cleaveland, Baltimore and Detroit would be in the running.

David, if you don't like it move. That's what I did. I was tired of feeling like a second class citizen in my own area so I left, moved away and have never been happier. I live in rural north Halton but even when I shop or drive through Georgetown it's very rare that I see any other race but white. Except on Saturday, that's when the minorities from Brampton drive out here to shop. That's when there are more but it's not over run with them. They don't take over the place or anything.

If you're willing to commute I highly recommend you check out the outlying areas. Just be sure to steer clear of any town or city that is attached to a larger urban area or that has local public transit. Public transit is a magnet for the types of people we wish to avoid.

There are a lot of town around the GTA that would be more to your liking. Go for a drive one weekend.

I've found the incompetence of Toronto drivers transcends race and class. Nobody uses their fucking turn signals.

I think that the culture you learned to drive in IS a factor, BD! I was a salesman driving around Metro Toronto for years. If you saw two Asian ladies in a car near you it was only prudent to give them a wide berth. Invariably they would talk and look at each other instead of the road. Mind you, it didn't make much difference when both of them were too small to see over the dashboard anyway!

It's not that they were inherently any less intelligent or talented than anyone else. It was just a habit of their culture - a habit that would never be corrected on its own. Those that think such a cultural habit doesn't exist and is only some kind of racism are welcome to drive around Markham for a few days and see for themselves. Hopefully, they know of a good body shop. They'll need one afterwards!

One should understand that most immigrants are granted a Canadian provincial driving licence with the smack of a rubber stamp! There's no re-test!

As for those like the Asian ladies I described who may have grown up here but did not learn the language, there's no problem. They simply get someone else to do the written test for them! I myself was offered money on three occasions to do this. This was the late 90's and the rate for this fraud was $300. I have no idea what the rate is now but I'm sure the practice is still blatantly going on.

(BTW, I refused!)

We could start another thread about why drivers everywhere seem so terrible today. Toronto is so bad simply because it is the most congested city, highlighting bad driving to a far greater extent. I would make a quick point that the approach to enforcement has changed over the years. Up until the 70's and early 80's it was quite common for a driver to be pulled over by a cop on patrol. Often there was no ticket but merely a warning for having made some 'newbie' mistake. It served to correct bad habits and helped maintain a higher baseline of good driving on the roads.

After that time it became virtually unknown to EVER have a cop do such a thing! The only times you see a cop in a big city these days is when he's giving out radar tickets or when he's been called to an accident. People get their licence and receive absolutely no correction to any bad driving habits unless and until they have an accident. If they are still alive then hopefully they learned from their mistake!

In my younger days being stopped by a cop was so common that we never remarked about it but I would say that each of us would have been pulled over at least 3-4 times a year. Rarely did we get a ticket. We actually appreciated the instruction!

I asked my daughters and their friends about the situation today. NONE of them had ever been stopped or even heard about someone being stopped by a cop on patrol for bad driving! Actually, they were surprised to hear that once cops actually patrolled! I'm not sure they all believed me that it used to happen!

So yes, if you get large numbers of people who learned to drive in a third world country being allowed to instantly hit the roads of Toronto, with virtually no patrolling to weed out bad mistakes, then the ridiculous situation we have today is only inevitable...

I feel exactly the same when I see a Crown Victoria on the road. If you see a Crown Vic, you can be sure that behind the wheel there is either a cop, or an old-person. Either way, stay well away.

Exactly! Mind you, there's always some liberal type who will get all defensive and say "Here's a guy driving a Vic and he's NOT a cop and he's NOT old!"

Such people completely miss the point. Of course such generalizations are not 100%. They don't have to be! What's important is if they are true often enough to make them a statistical risk worth avoiding.

The name of the game is to avoid being involved in an accident, not avoiding accusations of being politically incorrect.
