Pretty much the news everywhere has Smitherman or Ford out ahead by 1. 8 points? I doubt it. It could happen, but I doubt it. Forecasts says rain in the morning and thundershower in the afternoon and maybe in the evening too. I know one person here who doesn't vote when it's raining. Anymore like him and Ford will lose. He's using the "immigration controversy" to his advantage and won't back down on what he said: Toronto can't support the 1M+ that are supposed to be coming here over the next 10 years or so. I myself don't trust that the city has things under control, and can support that kind of growth without a restructuring. Mayor Miller had agreed to a financial audit of the city after the new Land Transfer Tax came in. Where is it ? I think he's right on that, about half of the recent Tamil 'refugees' will end up in Toronto and more to come so the Province or the Feds are going to have to help Toronto out in that respect. I also agree on Subways rather than streetcars. If Ford gets in it's going to be very interesting and maybe fun LOL should liven things up at City Hall.. Ford can't control immigration, or the effects of it. So his grandstanding is nothing more than the typical bloating a politician gets before he goes for a big crap. If Ford gets in expect that Toronto will be paralyzed for the next 10 years. Ford does not have the support of Council. The news started with a few sentences introducing today's election, then two quotes from people saying something like "Rob Ford has always been himself, he's there for the people and he has said that he will clean up city hall." I also agree on Subways rather than streetcars. Ford’s subway scam er..scheme is going to cost $4B by his own estimates. Even if you accept those figures at face value (and disregard where this money is supposed to come from), that’s a considerable amount of moolah to extend the lines to places that lack the density to truly justify the expenditure. If Ford gets in it's going to be very interesting and maybe fun LOL should liven things up at City Hall.. I guess if four years of partisan infighting, political gridlock and the decay of city services is your idea of chuckles, you’re in for a real larf. He was neutral, asking where the money was going to come from for any of the candidate's expenditures? Then, he got on to Rob Ford specifically. He said something to the extent of, how can any moron believes what Ford has to say, he can't do ANYTHING he claims he wants to do at which point the host said, ohhhh well, sorry to interrupt but we have to take a break. That said, the mayoral candidates - except for Ford - aren't conveying fiscal responsibility which is why he is where he is. If he can find somebody to build compromises, he could succeed. Agreed. I don't think Harris' plan included a scandal at Walkerton, which chased him from office. Nor did it include him being in a political Siberia for the remainder of his career. And I don't think Ford or any municipal politician is really thinking of moving on in short order. HARRIS was and is a socialist...He sits on the board of Magna from what I understand...and Uncle Frank Stronach - IS a socialist - he is a neo-national socialist...Austria has a way of producing such people..and Frank does not allow non-like minded people on the compound or on the board of directors. Never thought there would be a beer store there since the LCBO is one of the biggest liquor stores in the world. The fact that it is does indeed make him more important.
