I'm afraid I don't think this is a serious question.

Or you just can't answer it. Unless of course, you can read minds!

Maybe he doesn't believe in Islamic Gay Rights! ;)

Good point. He probably believes there is no such thing as a gay Muslim.

You're having trouble being honest, little guy?

So...your notion is that the proposal to build a gay bar, plus all the names that have been offered, is precipitated by a "desire is to promote more understanding and tolerance amoungst Mulims regarding the homosexual community"?

:)

You having trouble being honest, little guy?

This is a response to a discussion of proposed mosque and bar sites? You've clearly lost your mind.

And speaking of hijacking. Thanks for hijacking my thread with your lunacy.

Meh, you'll get over it. It's happened to me so many times I lost count.

I do like 'Sufi and the Banshees'.

Bloodyminded.

Sure....but the idea (and i realize you didn't make this claim anyway) that the proposed outreach center is "aggression" is sheer speculation, and totally unsupported by anything but supposition.

I don't think its real aggression either. I just think people did it out of spite for the muslim center. I don't think that these intentions to actually put a gay bar there are genuine. It's simply all talk to get a specific response.

Yes, obviously. I support their right to be petty dinks; but it doesn't change the fact of what they are.

So your notion is that the proposal to build a mosque near ground zero, in a building that was damaged by the landing gear of one of the planes, is precipitated by a "desire to promote bridge-building, tolerance, and understanding?"

In actuality, the proposal is to illustrate the ridiculous notion attached to the proposed mosque. And that tolerance and unsterstanding is a one way street.

The contrary view remains speculation. You're assuming.

In actuality, the proposal is to illustrate the ridiculous notion attached to the proposed mosque.

No it isn't. It's to avoid the terible notion of dialogue and bridge-building. That's it's entire point.

Excellent! And that's how many people feel about the individuals behind the proposed mosque. Consider it your lesson learned for the day. :)

And so is your view regarding the gay bar. It's your speculation and assumption. See, I can play that card too. :)

And it's impossible to refute.

Again: you're assuming they're being dinks.

Those making the other "proposal" are unquestionably and purposefully being dinks.

If you can't understand the distinction...well, that's not really my fault.

That's still all completely speculation and assumption. At least the lesson you learned here today is real. :)

No it isn't. You even agree with me, though are remaining oddly perverse about the whole matter.

Embrace your stance, or drop it; that's my advice.

IS it just me or does this blog make Shady and other right wing crazies look stuipd? You know because someone who isn't crazy thought hey lets look and see if there are already gay bars there. There are.

If you look at this picture, and you’re not too stupid to breathe (sorry, wingnuts!), you should immediately see two things that make this whole “let’s put a gay bar by the Cordoba House and see liberal heads explode!” wishful thinking look even stupider than it is on its surface: 1) There are three gay bars within .1 mile of the Cordoba House and 2) They are all as close or closer to the Cordoba House than the WTC is.

It's funny that some people's reaction to the mocking of the mosque situation is to somehow try to mock other religions. Why exactly is that the case? I don't get it. Can somebody explain? Bloodyminded perhaps.

Because from what I've seen and heard. Islam is about the only religion that specifically gets exempted from mocking. People go out of their way to appease them. The latest example being South Park. However, pretty much every other religion has learned to live with jokes, and mocking. It happens on a regular basis for everyone else, in television, movies, music, etc.

So what gives?

I think they should name the bar - The Pig and Whistle, or The Pig in a Poke, or The Pig and Bacon.....

Yes, but they don't specifically cater to gay Muslims. This one would.

If that is the case, they will go tits up (lol) within the year due to lack of patronage. The clientele would not be large enough to sustain this bar. It's pretty tough for non-muslims to come out of the closet.

Another name ... Rough Trade Center. :D ... to soon?

you seriously could not see that this was a direct response to the "proposal"...that in fact, the juvenile part of me found some of the bar names funny; and further, since you, Shady, as well as all the others making this "proposal" fallaciously claimed it was about "building bridges and tolerance," it seemed fitting not to pick specifically on one religion, but to go after a few of them.

Since, as you claim, it's all about "lessons learned," "building bridges," and so on.

I mocked no less than four religions, Shady (though I suspect only one, maybe two, offend your sensibilities)....while you folks unimaginatively focussed only on the one.

So...what's the problem again?
