Sir Bandelot Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Good point! Who the hell cares? If you're responsible then you're responsible! It's not as if being drunk or stoned is a good excuse! In many occupations, improvising can be very dangerous and only becomes necessary when things are already screwed up. If I never had a reason to hate Conservatives I have one now. This country has become just a pathetic theocracy under Harper. You never had a reason to hate the Conservatives until now...When a dope fiend got caught selling dope paraphenalia across international borders... That's your major issue with this guy? Smoke another one.... Quote The beatings will continue until morale improves!!!

Smoke another one.... What would give you that idea, you can't read? As illiterate as a Conservative senator? I said "IF I never had a reason to hate Conservatives", which obviously indicates that I already had plenty of reasons or at least one. I actually have lots of reasons to hate the religious bigots, this is just the most recent one. I could smoke 12 more and still be a lot more intelligent and free-thinking than you. Go have another shot of booze or caffiene or whatever it is that you enjoy, and take your condescending attitude and blow it out your ass. Quote
Guest American Woman Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 Not to worry. I'm sure Emery will soon be back to serve his sentence in Canada, on Canada's terms. Which may amount to nothing. And he still gets to be the martyr. I'm guessing he's not only loving every minute of the attention/publicity, he's thriving on it. Quote

Vic Toews one of the Conservatives worst religiously motivated whack-jobs would have to approve of that. The only way we will get Marc back is to dedicate all of our energies to throwing these losers out of our government. Quote

Vic Toews one of the Conservatives worst religiously motivated whack-jobs would have to approve of that. The only way we will get Marc back is to dedicate all of our energies to throwing these losers out of our government. I think it'll happen because of the treaty between our countries. Why wouldn't Toews approve? That way he gets to have his cake and eat it too. The U.S. is appeased because Emery was extradited, and Canadians will be appeased when his sentence, once he's returned, is reduced to what amounts to nothing. It's a win-win situation for the Canadian government. Quote

GostHacked Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 Persecuting dopers is secondary to public safety. The problem is that the druggies gotta use their shyte at work...cause...like...you know....uhhhh....work stresses them out! That's how they are used to dealing with life's problems...getting drunk or stoned. Alcoholics drink at work. I've seen it happen, it's not pretty. If you are doing drugs on the job, then the drugs is probably the least of your problems. And anyone here that advocates for legalization of the mary jane will have enough sense to leave the shit at home and come to work sober. You know many dopers yourself, but are unaware that they are dopers. This is because they have control over it. Quote

GostHacked Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 Wrong again....they don't care how well Mr./Ms. Doper can do the job...insurance premiums and loss experience means it is not worth the risk. Substance abuse is the doper's problem...no reason an employer should have to put up with it. They can whine about it to their pipe. Do you apply this philosophy to alcoholics as well? Quote
GostHacked Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 That is an opinion unsupported by anything... It's an opinion yes. And I support it. Most of my friends who do dope, are still well adjusted and productive members of society. They know there is a time and a place for everything. Common sense is needed here. But that does not seem to be so common. Quote

GostHacked Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 Common sense is needed...yet we still have traffic laws, building codes and laws against littering...common sense tells us we need laws. Of course we still need laws. Everyone is stupid in some regards towards certain things. Some people can't drive, so yeah we need those laws. But that does not in any way prevent them from being idiots. Also building codes are in place because of things learned in the past. Mistakes were made, improvements made, technology changes as well. I am not a handyman in any way, so I'd be going to the expert to help me design and build a room that is structurally sound. But even in your everyday life I hope you have some basic common sense about most things. Or at least have the ability to ask questions when things don't make sense. But just because weed and other drugs are illegal does not mean that people can't control themselves. There are always going to be some who abuse it and those are the ones who end up in trouble. We see that is the case with booze. Making it legal does not mean that people can abuse it and expect to live a productive life. Moderation and self control. The law essentially says that people like me do not have self control and are a burden on society. Even more so than an alcoholic who comes to work every day smelling like booze who works in a nuclear facility. Quote

I would stop worrying about the old fellas that are still brainwashed against pot. I see the only 2 real issues preventing full legalization are, determining if a driver of a car is high and the reaction from the US. The US has a bit of an insane perspective. This to me is the largest concern I have. I go to Juarez Mexico for work, and would not want to see the war come to Canada. And if we had it legalized, I'm scared our border would be like the Mexican. Back when I was a student, I seen about 20 engineering students sitting in a circle passing a doobie. If those guys/gals were criminals.... then we are all facked. And that was back in the '90s. Our current pot laws are probably the silliest we have. Despite our silly laws and the USAs sillier laws, I agree with Marc being extradited in this case. That is assuming that for this level of crime (Wither pot or not) would justify extradition.
