bloodyminded
Suuuure he assaulted a woman. That's why he's been arrested. Oops. He hasn't been, has he? I guess assaulting women isn't against the law in Canada, eh? Suuuuure he pushed someone out of the way. (You might want to look up "push" in the dictionary. ) a thousand times over. Yeah. He "pushed her out of the way." Wait...in fact, "he assaulted her." What's next? Maybe he raped her!!!!! (You know what these "socialists" are like.) Heck, why not say anything that comes to mind? Guest American Woman
265. (1) A person commits an assault when (a) without the consent of another person, he applies force intentionally to that other person, directly or indirectly; He did these things didn't he? Thereby technically he assaulted her. Then assault technically must not be against the law in Canada since he wasn't charged, eh? again. If he assaulted her, he would have been arrested, because even I, an American, know that assault is against the law in Canada. But he wasn't charged with assault, because there was no assault. fellowtraveller
anyone catch the Mercer segment on Layton last night... a fine interview/segment. But how will this stand up to all those bemoaning the couple of seconds 'face time' given to Layton during the hockey cut-away - oh... the humanity! Mercer once again demonstrates what a shamneless asskissing suckup he has become. The solar panels on Laytons house would not run a fan, much less the entire house, and the hot water panels would not do anything in that weather. Did anybody else notice the standard air conditioning condenser on Jackos roof? And the geothermal was not yet installed......
waldo
Mercer once again demonstrates what a shamneless asskissing suckup he has become. equal opportunity: this one's a real hoot... hey Shady, pay particular attention to what Steve has to say about the need to reduce emissions http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FGIQpdtS_Y The solar panels on Laytons house would not run a fan, much less the entire house, and the hot water panels would not do anything in that weather.Did anybody else notice the standard air conditioning condenser on Jackos roof? And the geothermal was not yet installed...... it would appear you don't factor the 10 inch insulation extension & envelope wrapping... or their window replacements... or other initiatives they have taken/plan to take. Quite an admirable effort by Jack Layton/Olivia Chow

Ok so if I came up to you and pushed your arm out of my way, you wouldn't see that as an assault? You would be fine with that? Well I wouldn't. I don't let people invade my personal space. As you've said you have no problem with random strangers touching you. Not everyone shares your view. Why should the rules be different for a politician pushing an arm out of the way then for a random person pushing someones arm out of the way? capricorn
I don't let people invade my personal space. This speaks volumes about you. I take it then you watched the Olympics all alone and never gathered with family, friends and fans to watch events or celebrated anything? Because if you did, you would have invaded their personal space and let yours be invaded. Jubilant people do that. They high-five, throw their hands up and sometimes even embrace each other. I doubt you have ever attended a public event because you would have people close to you and all around you, invading your space. That sounds like anti-social behaviour to me. It sounds like you are a very lonely person.

You don't need to say any more, we get it. Not answering the question proves my point perfectly. It's only because he's a politician which you agree with so it's ok for him to assault a woman but if the average person o n the street did this you'd go crazy and call it assault. Thank s for the double standard as usual. Two sets of rules for two groups of people. As usual.
nbguyca
What is pathetic is you Conservatives grasping at straws like this to paint the opposition parties in a bad light. You have nothing of substance to critisize so this is where your desperation leaves you. They don't have to grasp at anything to make Layton look like the used car salesman that he is. nbguyca
To call this an assault is a stretch. I'm sure the woman didn't feel that he was a threat to her. nbguyca
Then WHY grasp at the straws as they do? Because some of them are idiots, and just like some of out politicians, they can't think for themselves. The only repeat what they have been told by the media or the party spin doctors. Let's call this what it was, a political stunt. Do I really think it was an assualt? No, but I like my threads to have lots of responses and views so I always throw in a barb and it always works as the usual people always bite. I must be entertained. If you follow the exact definition of the law then yes it's an assault however our judges aren't books, they're people with reasoning capabilities so it'd get thrown out. GostHacked
Please stay on topic. Jack Layton assaulted a woman in order for his face to be on camera. It's not assault. Hell she almost smoked him in the face when she raised the roof.
Mr.Canada
That is be definition, trolling. Thanks for your response. Ok what is "a" definition? I have your "be" definition but I'm still waiting for "a". I like to elicit truthful responses from people. People are most truthful when they have elevated emotions. I count on that. If we aren't being truthful then discussion is wasted. Edited March 4, 2010 by Mr.Canada
