The fact that women's groups aren't up in arms about it, the fact that no assault charges have been filed, the fact that the woman involved has never complained, should all tell you that he didn't abuse his power or commit assuault. The idea that women's groups feel sorry for him and are therefore giving him a pass is ludicrous. The fact that the law feels sorry for him and is therefore giving him a pass is ludicrous. The fact that you think he is getting a "free pass" for lowering a woman's arm in a crowded bar, a woman who he had been drinking beers with, is ludicrous.

The fact is, if every person who touched/put their hands on another person as they were passing by them in a crowded bar and if every person who touched/put their hands on someone they were sitting in a bar was held to the same standards you are holding Layton to, the police would have a full time job arresting people for assault.

What makes you think he didn't? How do you know it wasn't the media that focused in on him rather than the other way around?

Since he attended the women's gold game without receiving any media fanfare and still chose to go there for the men's gold game, makes me wonder why people accuse him of only going to Gretzky's for the men's game to get attention. His being there for the women's game obviously didn't result in media attention since people didn't even know he was there, so why would he think the men's game would?

Seems to me there's nothing to indicate that he attended one game with different ulterior motives than the other. More than ever it looks as if he just wanted to watch the games at Grezky's along with all the other fans.
