punked Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 (edited) It may seem that way from mars, period end of story he was right. What do you want me to say? He was right on Acorn until the unedited tapes were released and we found out that the ACORN employees were playing along with him to get him to say incriminating things so that when they called the cops on the guy playing the pretend pimp they had things to report? He was right on Van Jones until Van Jones led a boycott which cost Beck all his sponsors and he had to go out to find more, and that his advertising space cost almost nothing now. Or that him lying about Van Jones saying things "he went prison for the Rodney King thing" even though Van Jones never went to prison means he was right? He wasn't right. Other things Shady said Obama is a socialist. Doesn't even make sense when looking at Obama's record. Obama's wreck less spending? Come on give me a break. Honestly the guy is crazy and has lost half his viewers already. He loses money for fox, and can't keep this crap up. Edited May 30, 2010 by punked Quote
Michael Hardner Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 Can the Beck haters give some specific examples of Beck being wrong on some issue? It's not that he's wrong. That would be excusable. It's that he says anything to get attention, including contradicting himself, and his own values (whatever they are). He also creates panic or evokes patriotism whenever he can to get more viewers. This is what journalism has become. Quote Click to learn why Climate Change is caused by HUMANS Michael Hardner
Michael Hardner Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 David Letterman doesn't think so. He did apologize for that. What a thought - somebody apologizing for doing something wrong. If Beck started doing that now for everything he's already done he could stay on the air a long time. Letterman Apology Quote Click to learn why Climate Change is caused by HUMANS Michael Hardner
Michael Hardner Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 Exactly. Beck's been right about a number of things. Obama's socialist tendencies. Obama's wreckless spending. Van Jones. ACORN. To name a few. Or actually more than a few. At least we're calling it 'socialist tendencies' now and not calling Obama a socialist. He did say he thinks Obama is a racist though. He was right on Acorn until the unedited tapes were released and we found out that the ACORN employees were playing along with him to get him to say incriminating things so that when they called the cops on the guy playing the pretend pimp they had things to report? See, this is a perfect example of you not knowing what you're talking about. When I said Glenn Beck was right about ACORN. I wasn't referring to anything about incriminating videos. I was talking about the voter fraud charges in 14 states. Glenn Beck was the only person in the media talking about it. And how many billions of dollars they receive in federal funding. They were also a partner with the US census bureau to recruit workers to help count the census. He's right. You're wrong. He was right on Van Jones until Van Jones led a boycott which cost Beck all his sponsors and he had to go out to find more, and that his advertising space cost almost nothing now. Just because Van Jones led a boycott doesn't mean Beck was wrong. It means he was right. It was Jones' way of exacting some revenge. After all. If Van Jones wasn't what Glenn Beck uncovered him to be. Why did he resign? Yep. That's what I thought. Also, Glenn Beck still pulls in double the ratings that any other cable news channel gets at 5pm. So your assertion about his ratings being bad, and his show costing Fox News money is completely false. Once again. He's right. You're wrong. Other things Shady said Obama is a socialist. Doesn't even make sense when looking at Obama's record. Really? Like this part of his record? Private pay shrinks to historic lows as gov't payouts risePaychecks from private business shrank to their smallest share of personal income in U.S. history during the first quarter of this year, a USA TODAY analysis of government data finds. At the same time, government-provided benefits — from Social Security, unemployment insurance, food stamps and other programs — rose to a record high during the first three months of 2010. Shady Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 So it's Obama, and his economic policies, that are the root causes of the recession (and resulting unemployment? No. But it's his economic policies that are making things worse, smothering the private sector and stalling economic growth. Paychecks from private business shrank to their smallest share of personal income in U.S. history Can you read that? In U.S. history. It could'nt be the laissez-faire,cowboy capitalism of Wall Street and the debt making banks allowing people who could never pay off a mortgage unless they won the lottery? There's no such thing as laissez-faire, cowboy capitalism. And it was government policy, in particular, liberal socialist policy that played the biggest part of the recession. Forcing banks to lend to people who otherwise didn't qualify and couldn't afford a loan isn't a Republican ideal. Lowering lending standards so that the so-called disadvantaged could take a loan or get a mortgage lies at the door step of all you socialists out there. Well, the chickens came home to roost. Take a good look at the economy over the past couple of years. Take a look at Greece, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, and England. The economic blood is on your hands. You have a lot of nerve intervening in proper market rules, and then complain when the house of cards you built, on good intentions, comes crashing down. Quote

Shady Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 He can go way over the top sometimes. On occasion he's spot on Yep, just like Glenn Beck. Anyways, here's an example of what I was talking about, regarding Obama's smothering of the American economy. “Washington is unpredictable these days,” declares the CEO of Wynn Resorts. “No one has any idea what’s next…the uncertainty of the business climate in America is frightening, frightening to everybody, and it’s delaying the recovery.”CNBC Quote

So you're an advocte of the Hayek/Friedman theory that the invisible hand of the economy will sort things out? What is Beck spot on about??? FEMA camps? Communist 5th columners? NAZI's in our midst? Shady Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 So you're an advocte of the Hayek/Friedman theory that the invisible hand of the economy will sort things out? It was Adam Smith that introduced the invisible hand. But I'm not sure what you're talking about regarding things being sorted out. As I said, Obama is creating an unpredictable economic environment. And what markets and business like best, is stability. Something that's the opposite of Obama's policies. What is Beck spot on about??? ACORN, Van Jones to name a couple. Quote
bloodyminded Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 (edited) It was Adam Smith that introduced the invisible hand. Yes, but Smith differed sharply from fundamentalists like Hayek and Friedman, in that Smith warned about the potential overweening power of gigantic corporations (a prescient warning), and also bemoaned the untrammelled greed of what he termed "the Masters of Mankind," who were not to be trusted. He was speaking specifically of the Business-Wealthy. Edited May 31, 2010 by bloodyminded Quote As scarce as truth is, the supply has always been in excess of the demand. --Josh Billings

The invisible hand stuff is basically Hayek's theory that market's should free from all government intervention at all times,in otherwords, let the market sort itself out and self correct...
