Mighty AC Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 (edited) We don't know what preceded the Big Bang. Now answer what preceded the magical, omnipotent being you believe it. Once we have this BS sidebar straightened out maybe you can support your views on evolution. WIP Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 Back to the topic. Mighty AC? WIP? The Choir? I guess I quit the choir! Because this is the first time I've checked back on this topic for several days now. My personal opinion is that you either want to learn about science or you don't. As long as your not the Minister of Science and Technology, I'm really not that concerned that you want to force science to conform to your religious interpretations. dre Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 Well at some point something had to come from nothing. Can anyone write a good prequel to the Creation story? Whats your rush? A few hundred years ago we thought the world was flat, and that the sun revolved around the earth. Just be patient, smart people are working hard to try to figure this stuff out. Quote I question things because I am human. And call no one my father who's no closer than a stranger
dre Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 Well, there are only two possibilities. Either something has existed forever, or something came out of nothing. Both seem fairly illogical. Diety mythology doesnt fix any of this though, because god also must have existed forever or came out of nothing. Quote I question things because I am human. And call no one my father who's no closer than a stranger
bush_cheney2004 Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 Ergo...God always was and always will be. Or so I am told. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Sleipnir Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 Just be patient, smart people are working hard to try to figure this stuff out. What stuff exactly? Quote "All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence; then success is sure." - Mark Twain
dre Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 Nothing last forever, not even God itself. Well there ya go... you answered your own question then. Quote I question things because I am human. And call no one my father who's no closer than a stranger
dre Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 (edited) What stuff exactly? That little box above my post is whats called a quote. The words following the quote are in reference to the quote itself. In this case the little box had this in it.... Can anyone write a good prequel to the Creation story? And the words below the quote were... people are working hard to try to figure this stuff out. Armed with this new knowledge, the answer to your question should be pretty clear. Mighty AC Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 (edited) A inanimate clay golem was floating in the nothing. Then one day an old silk hat landed on its head. Now, there must have been some magic in that old silk hat, for when it landed on the head, it began to dance around. That was the day that god was born. As you might expect of something that has been in a frozen state for an eternity he woke up angry. Hence all those years of jealousy, killing, punishment, genocide, etc. However, one day god's heart grew three sizes and he embraced love. So he impregnated a virgin with himself and was reborn as a white, Birkenstock wearing hippie in the Middle East. This son of himself loved to party and regularly made booze out of water and entertained crowds with his water walking. God part II loved everyone...well except slaves, women and gays. Anyway, at least he had himself tortured and killed to forgive us for being made imperfectly by himself. This truth can be confirmed by the fact that I believe that it is true. Plus it is also written down right there ^^^ Edited December 4, 2012 by Mighty AC Quote "Our lives begin to end the day we stay silent about the things that matter." - Martin Luther King Jr"Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities" - Voltaire

Hopefully they'll come up with the answer in our lifetime. It might....the way technology is rapidly developing. I want confirmation....just so I can say, "I told you so." Quote

Yes we already know from other threads that science confirms the Hindu creation story; but, this is a thread about Darwin. Here we can discuss how Hindus waited thousands of years for Darwin to prove their 10 Avatars of Vishnu. The forms taken by lord Vishnu in his ten incarnations bear a strange similarity to Darwin's Theory of Evolution. http://www.mymaaya.com/?p=1Betsy, you are lucky that science is confirming Hinduism. Though your God may be "jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully", the Hindu gods are not. They will not send you to a hell for disbelief in the unproven, instead their love is patient enough to wait many lifetimes for your return. It may take many rebirths, but you will know the truth one day. wyly Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 so we have an evangelical PM and he appoints another creationist as minister of science and technology is it any wonder we have an anti-science government that cuts science funding, muzzles scientists, obstructs climate change internationally...if you questioned harpers hidden religious agenda well there it is...it's covert, he doesn't bring it out in the open but influences policy with funding cuts, and political appointments...
