Texas Gov. Rick Perry isn't ruling out the possibility his state may one day secede from the nation.

Speaking to an energetic and angry tea party crowd in Austin Wednesday evening, the Lone Star State governor suggested secession may happen in the future should the federal government not change its fiscal polices.

"There's a lot of different scenarios," Perry said. "We've got a great union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that. But Texas is a very unique place, and we're a pretty independent lot to boot."

Well, that should help the U.S, economy even more: threats of separation.

Glenn Beck says the secessionists are patriots.

Hmm, that reminds me...

Any time a country has an issue with separation, it results in economic uncertainty and bad numbers. Those numbers include higher interest rates, lower investment and an overall affect on business. If any country knows that, it is Canada.

Moreover, I am not the least optimistic that something like separation can be acheived peacefully.

Looks like the Texas governor is getting his wings clipped.

"That's the headline: 'Two days after governor says we ought to secede, House zeroes out the governor's budget,' " said Appropriations Committee vice chairman Richard Raymond, D-Laredo.

However, most Republicans said they went along simply to speed debate of the state budget – a debate that could last into today.

Seems some Republicans are looking to challenge the increasingly erratic governor for his position next time as well.

Should Texas one day secede, one man may already be vying to be its president. Actor Chuck Norris said last month he may be interested in the post.

And why not? The whole country has a habit of making politicians out of second rate actors.

Geez, the nutbars are overflowing the shopping cart.

Unlimited economic growth has the marvelous quality of stilling discontent while preserving privilege, a fact that has not gone unnoticed among liberal economists.
