a Yankee essence you take pains... and obscene self-gratification... in attaching to Canada/Canadians, your oft-labeled assignments of lapdog, toady and poodle. Hey now! One could say... you... cannot escape it - nor define yourself without it!

Obcene? Only if it bites deeper for those who happily tossed about such terms before in attacking PM s Harper & Blair.

You didn't post what I was thinking.

You don't understand.....the point being that if you don't post it, we have no idea what you are thinking.

That is one limitation of this forum game.

Despite having a pro-military PM for a couple of years, our military is still way under funded and equipped. I was really embarrassed for our troops when they first arrived to Afghanistan in green uniforms.

If your proud of our troops, then make our military one to be proud of with world class equipment.

If my memory is correct, weren't our first troops killed by Americans because we had outdated communication equipment?

I also did not think Fox belittled us in Afghanistan, but how we don't have the resources to stay. They were right that we are EXTREMELY lucky to have them for neighbors. If we were almost anywhere else in the world, we would be an occupied country... And I'm embarrassed to admit that.

No, they were killed by Americans because of dereliction of duty, to wit:

WASHINGTON, June 28, 2002 – A coalition investigation board has blamed two U.S. F-16 fighter pilots, and others in their chain of command, for the April 17 friendly fire incident that killed four Canadian soldiers and injured eight.

"The Coalition Investigation Board found the cause of the friendly fire incident to be the failure of the two pilots to exercise appropriate flight discipline, which resulted in a violation of the rules of the engagement and an inappropriate use of lethal force," U.S. Marine Lt. Gen. Michael P. DeLong said Friday.

"The board further found that failings within the pilots' immediate command structures, while not causing the incident were contributing factors," the deputy commander of U.S. Central Command said to reporters in Tampa and at the Pentagon via videoconference.

IFF (Friend or Foe) communications gear was not a factor in the hearings or judicial proceedings.

Yes, and I reference the United States relatively infrequently. I don't deny that I do it, and I certainly don't see anything wrong with doing it. It's almost amusing that you take almost every reference to America and try to twist it into something....note that I said almost.
I'm glad you find such rejoinders amusing....I prefer to think of them and even my very membership on this forum as the embodiment of Yankee essence from which Canada cannot escape nor define itself without.

obscene gratification? why yes - in both degree... and visual severity!

Also after those hearings both pilots were agry at the military for making them the "fall guys" when it was the military that supply the pilots "uppers" to keep them awake from too long hours in the jets and that is when the "drug use" of the miltary came to the fore front.

Why do you care? Are you squirming with such exchanges? Did you squirm before when they were first used?

I would have regardless of your position on the matter. Your reaction(s) means I have an accurate and tight group on the target paper. Time to reload.....

"Drug use" in the military is/was hardly news, even when prescribed by flight surgeons. Dereliction of duty is news....as is calamity resulting from violations of RoEs. Mustn't drop laser guided bombs on unconfirmed targets.

ha! As much as you'd like to have others believe yours is entirely a politically motivated desire to flush out your so-called hypocritical mis-pronouncers, too often in my short time here, I have observed your pattern of needless... mindless... denigrations of Canada/Canadians in some perverse testament to beating back any interpreted (on your part) anti-Americanism. Or... apparently, confidence issues cause you to uncontrollably project an immodest swaggering bravado upon a, typically, unsuspecting and undeserved recipient.

but... do you not have an expiry date - a shelf life? Bush who? If not, we can only hope you are an equal opportunity flusher; one to ensure the purveyors of (Obama) lapdog/toady/poodle assignments are held to account.

There exists plenty of ignorance in any country and I wont get my knickers in a knot for shite like this.

Infotainment , what do you want.

I dont recall them being in charge of the pentagon. Call me when Red Eye either...

a) breaks the 0.40 in the Neilsons

B) Greg the host is named to run the pentagon.

Sadly after watching this bit juvenile attempt at humour....it reflects an all to common viewpoint among some Americans, I've had the misfortune to meet a few of this ilk. Tapping into this mindset isn't hard, stop reading the paper...just glance over the headlines, there...now you're informed. Put books on your bookshelf, but don't bother reading them. Create the aura that you're informed on world issues, then spout off whatever ignorance you want.

ha! As much as you'd like to have others believe yours is entirely a politically motivated desire to flush out your so-called hypocritical mis-pronouncers,

I have no such motivation, not caring in the least how your domestic political discourse proceeds. However, I do find entertainment in the obvious American references without which would lead to the deafening sound of crickets on a summer night.

too often in my short time here, I have observed your pattern of needless... mindless... denigrations of Canada/Canadians in some perverse testament to beating back any interpreted (on your part) anti-Americanism. No more needless or mindless than the very unoriginal anti-Americanism, which is often imported from America or Americans anyway.

but... do you not have an expiry date - a shelf life? Bush who? If not, we can only hope you are an equal opportunity flusher; one to ensure the purveyors of (Obama) lapdog/toady/poodle assignments are held to account.

I exist at the pleasure of our moderator....until then, I will seek every opportunity to be a pain in your ass...if only because you deserve at least that much attention, which is better than none at all. My long stated mission is to be the ugly American that you loathe, to add flesh and noise to your concocted bogeyman.

I have a standard working portfolio of Canadian highlights/lowlights for doing battle with whatever issue you care to smugly present. Let's play......

Not at all....no need to fake it, because most Americans don't know much about Canada, don't care, and don't care that they don't know. Canadians know more about America because they don't have much choice in the matter.

no most americans (actually 47% so not yet a majority) don't believe in evolution... and think that the earth is about 12000 years old... presumably the theory of evolution too, is knowledge they feel is unworthy of knowing... just as the country immediately north of their borders and second biggest trading partner.

It now seems certain that the average American boob, no longer capable of reading coherent discourse, has a consciousness, politely called a mind, that has been made permanently incapable of learning anything.

Americans are brutish creatures. They like to drug themselves with Christian heroin to avoid seeing the real world in which they must live and die, and that, like suicide, is their privilege, but please bush_cheney2004 retain sufficient decency to refrain from imposing your hallucinations on sober men. And if you are capable of pity, refrain from engendering children whom your christian drugs will not save from the coming consequences of the inanity and insanity of your country.

Which is their constitutional right...at some point early on they also believed in a Santa Claus.

Yet these ignorant boobs have managed to become the global hegemon, displacing the failed empires of Euro-trash.

hmmm, not really, the america that was beloved and hegemonic was the white america (and comparatively LESS religious) of the pre 60's... that was when america consolidated its power...

for instance the under god pledge was introduced late in 1957... and e pluribus unum was changed for "in god we trust" on the monopoly trading stamps which for some reason is still called "money" in the US.

In 1964, the den of thieves that is officially called the House of Representatives imposed a large part of Communist rule on their American subjects as "Civil Rights" for everyone except Americans. As originally passed, it guaranteed employment to blacks, mestizos, quadroons, octoroons and similar mixed races, homosexuals, and other assorted dregs, but provided that atheists, men and women to intelligent to believe ghost stories and too honest to pretend they did, could be hounded from all employment without recourse of any kind and even without a right to the benefits provided for all other unemployed.

But they have been loosing ground every month since then...

The US is now afflicted with a plague of "creation scientists," most of them technicians who either are or elect to be ignorant of scientific principles and methods, and misuse scientific terminology to peddle spiritual snake oil to the idiots, while overage actresses and other hokum-artists vend the pot-pourri of cognate fantasies called the "New Age" to other fugitives from reality.

Today america (no longer a republic) is a despised nation, a defiled, degraded and ugly country on whom the sun will soon rise for the last time... and night must fall...

Sure...just need to ignore the entire history of the Western Hemisphere, Manifest Destiny, Monroe Doctrine, etc., etc. I can just feel the love.

..and Ontario still funds Catholic schools...what about it?

Canada's repatriated constitution wouldn't happen for another 18 years.

A fair trade for more than 50% of Nobel Prizes.

...you would have some experience with this, living in an empire that failed long ago.
