madmax Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 "If you want to be a government in a minority Parliament, you have to work with other people" - Stephen Harper What I don't like about this, is that it is like the .... Stephan Harper said, Stephen Harper said, Stephen Harper said, adds that the LPC used to run. Feels like running to mommy, which is something that Harper does, not says. I also don't believe that Stephen Harper is a flake. I believe he is disconnected in a different way then Ignatieff or Dion. One of the more troubling recent statements from Harper was that he said, he didn't think that a company relocate a whole industrial operation outside of Canada. I didn't think he was a flake. I thought of alot of things, but flake didn't come to mind. Quote

Oleg Bach Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 Uh, do you know what flaky means? You can call Harper many things (and he has his share of redundant statements) but I wouldn't call him flaky. The only thing I found disturbing, was after 2 weeks of upheavel - that you would think someone would have learned how to get along--apparently no one has YET - but they had better unless they want to rule a third world country...and that fate could come about in a period of a year and with the force of a whirl wind...no one will have time to refere to the other as a flake that day. Sincerly and with all my heart I hope we unite...we have no choice...It's possible that a hell on earth is forming and the ecomomic instablity globally is just a precusor for what is to come. Some one should tell our politicans that photo ops and egotistic posturing are not appropriate at this time. It's as if the whole planet may be turned upside down soon...better smarten up and work together or we will all perish! Quote

normanchateau Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 In 2006, the House of Commons voted to extend the mission in Afghanistan from 2007 to 2009. The vote was 149 to 145. The Conservatives voted for the extension, most Liberals voted against the extension. One of the few Liberals who voted for it was Ignatieff. Harper and Ignatieff...peas in a pod or both flakes? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...6051702077.html In 2003, Ignatieff wrote an article in favour of the US invasion of Iraq. In 2003, Stephen Harper appeared live on US Fox television to tell Americans why Canada was wrong not to invade Iraq. Harper even claimed that a majority of Canadians outside of Quebec wanted Canada to invade Iraq. Harper and Ignatieff...peas in a pod or both flakes? Finally, Canadians can choose between their favourite warmongers...the intellectual warmonger versus the homophobic warmonger. Quote

It is a well known fact that Ignatieff is an academic and it is well documented. But Harper a homophobe? Do you have any proof or is this just your personal opinion? normanchateau Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 Yep, the challenge now is to keep the Liberals from forming a majority. That would require CPC to dump Harper and replace him with a more centrist type leader. Quote
Topaz Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 Here's my question....who will replace Harper when he goes, some one from Alberta or some from Ontario??? Quote

normanchateau Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 But Harper a homophobe? Do you have any proof or is this just your personal opinion? circumstantial evidence, e.g., He lead the charge against allowing lesbians to marry as leader of the opposition. Even after being elected Prime Minister, he re-visited the issue and introduced a motion in parliament in December, 2006 to strip away their legislated right to marry. As leader of the opposition, he voted against Bill c-250, the legislation which made it a hate crime to promote or advocate the killing of homosexuals. Harper made homophobic comments about Svend Robinson and subsequently apologized for them; http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2002/10/23/...act_021023.html Of course none of this is proof. Just a series of remarkable coincidences. I'm sure he loves gay men and lesbians and didn't really want to try to take away their legal right to marry. Unfortunately, God forced him to. Quote

Unfortunately, God forced him to. 1) Being against same sex marriage does not equal homophobia. I believe I read an opinion piece by (i think) Sky Gilbert opposing SSM on the grounds that it was coopting straight culture at a time when Gay culture should be promoted. I disagree with him, I think gays should marry, be monogamous, move to the suburbs and be less fabulous.. 2) Was that before or after Sven expanded the scope of his banditry to gaudy baubles?
