I wasn't abusive or anything I just disagreed with PR and with their idea that the NDP, Liberals and the Bloc should form an accord, I basically said that our PM Stephan Harper would love if they formed a team with separtists as they would be wiped out in the next election. AngusThermopyle Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 Holy shit! I just checked out that babble site, what a huge pile of steaming unfounded erronious crap! Everything I saw there was based more upon emotion and opinion than fact. I now withdraw my banned/competition suggestion as I've realized that i couldn't be bothered wasting that much time on such a one sided gab fest. Quote I yam what I yam - Popeye
Wild Bill Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 Holy shit!I just checked out that babble site, what a huge pile of steaming unfounded erronious crap! Everything I saw there was based more upon emotion and opinion than fact. I now withdraw my banned/competition suggestion as I've realized that i couldn't be bothered wasting that much time on such a one sided gab fest. Good description! Could've maybe used some alliteration but pretty pungent, all in all! "Rubble" was the first political board I tried. I just couldn't believe those people! I was polite and civilized but whenever I disagreed with ANYTHING I was snottily attacked! I kept my cool until a couple of the yahoos called me some out and out profanities, including the "F" word. So I started a new thread asking if "Rubble" was a board that hated all those of "non-leftie" persuasion and preferred that they not bother to post. The thread went crazy! One of the most rabid posters was a moderator! Eventually some kind of higher level moderator made a post soft-pedaling the whole issue, denying that there was any attempt to drown conflicting views and graciously suggesting that I was welcome to stick around. I was too disgusted. I just bailed and googled up some more sites. Right away I found this one and I've been here ever since. One of the more interesting facts about "Rubble" is how they appear to be trying to co-opt the word "progressive". Their opening banner claims to be a home for "progressive thought". George Carlin would have had great fun with this one! By definition, any thought different from theirs must be "non-progressive". Orwell would have been proud! I find this attempt at semantic manipulation to be "doubleplusungood". What's frightening is that I've heard the term from time to time leaking into the media, like CBC NewsWorld. Now THAT'S "scary, scary, scary"! But without providing a link, we're going to have to take your word for it. Just go look! It's bloody flippin' obvious! Read through the threads and look for any post that shows even the least amount of dissent. Better yet, make even a polite disagreement post of your own. I warn you, you better immediately brace yourself! Mr.Canada Posted October 31, 2008 Author Report Posted October 31, 2008 (edited) Good Point.Well Mr C..... CITE? I don't know how to link to the exact post so I just did it to the right page, if anyone knows how I'd appreciate it if they passed it along to me, after verbally thrashing me with partisanship of course. Ok. This the first post I made, it's right around the bottom of the page. Number two post. is right here, just above the half way mark of the page. I was attacked like crazy after this post, it was pretty tame as well. Here is the last one. After this one I was banned. I didn't post badly at all. I merely disagreed with them and was banned for it. This starts at about 1/4 of the way down the page. I find it humorous that a political forum doesn't allow healthy debate. I emailed Michelle twice and she hasn't responded. Also she troll posted on the forum when banning me. I'm happy that the mods here are actually fair and lax compared to these people. Try to get some balance going here instead of the left patting each others back. From the board's terms of use: babble is NOT intended as a place where the basic and essential values of human rights, feminism, anti-racism, and labour rights are to be debated or refought. Members that join babble who indicate intentions to challenge these rights and principles may be seen as disruptive to the nature of the forum. Such members may be warned, have their accounts suspended, or banned altogether. Repeated attempts to provoke conflict, bait or taunt will not be tolerated. Banning is the message board equivalent of what the Soviets did with people who questioned the State. Precisely. Those people are far too sensitive. They brow beat conservative ideals all day long and no one gets banned. I say something a little tongue in cheek and I'm gone. Just makes me laugh. I've said far worse things here when I first came here yet here I am. I didn't even get a warning, not that my post warranted it, it didn't. Rabble folk are just to used to going unopposed all the time that they cannot debate or even discuss properly. Look at the OCAP, the urban terror group, they only know how to protest and yell into a megaphone. Ah yes and disrupt Queens Park. Seems to be their whole mantra there. EDIT- Ah yes, many of the posters who I can left wing here would look quite reasonable all things considered. Well, you violated the terms of use you agreed to abide by. You're not a martyr here, just a dummy who didn't read the fine print before clicking "I accept". I've said far worse things here when I first came here yet here I am. That's because MLW and Rabble are different forums serving different audiences and different purposes. I didn't even get a warning, not that my post warranted it, it didn't. Again: Continued participation on these boards is at the sole discretion of the moderators and staff of this site. Wild Bill Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 Perhaps we should be happy that "Rubble" acts as sugar water in a wasp trap. The kind of people who prefer such a board are mostly those who we would not want coming over to boards such as this one. Let them preach to each other all they want. Someday perhaps we can get them to board the "B" Ark! kengs333 Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 Actually, it does. Their house, their rules. Actually, no. They created a PUBLIC message board and allow anyone to join, they should expect a certain amount of difference in opinions. I'm not sure if you really understand the full extent of the totalitarian nature of that board. The first time I went over there, I made fairly innocuous statements/opinions and was hounded. After being banned, I did go back several times and was a little more pointed in my opinions and of course was banned. The last time I was there, at least it caused some of the longer-term members to question the banning policy. Keep in mind that here I'm constantly painted as a leftist/communist, it it's a little amusing that I've been banned from rabble 3 or 4 times. Also, I'm wondering if that black guy from the Maritimes is still there who keeps stating that all whites are racist? That guy was probably the most offensive, racist person that I've come across of a forum aside from "tango" (aka jenny) and "charter.rights", yet he could post with impunity. Quote
Black Dog Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 (edited) Actually, no. They created a PUBLIC message board and allow anyone to join, they should expect a certain amount of difference in opinions. There's your problem: you don't know what you're talking about. They started a private board for people of a certain political persuasion (left/progressive) that allows anyone to join provided they abide by the terms of use, which our resident free speech martyr failed to do. It's like taking a job where you are expected to wear a shirt and tie and complaining if you get sacked for wearing sweatpants. I'm not sure if you really understand the full extent of the totalitarian nature of that board. I'm not sure you understand what totalitarianism is. The first time I went over there, I made fairly innocuous statements/opinions and was hounded. That's your version. But even if it's true, they have the right to ban whomever they wish for whatever reason they wish. The fact you were no doubt there to stir up trouble just means they were probably justified. After being banned, I did go back several times and was a little more pointed in my opinions and of course was banned. So having been banned once, you decide to start trolling and were stunned when you got banned again? Not much sympathy for you from this quarter. Keep in mind that here I'm constantly painted as a leftist/communist, it it's a little amusing that I've been banned from rabble 3 or 4 times. So you're like an annoying houseguest who, having overstayed his welcome once, keeps on trying to get back in? Also, I'm wondering if that black guy from the Maritimes is still there who keeps stating that all whites are racist? That guy was probably the most offensive, racist person that I've come across of a forum aside from "tango" (aka jenny) and "charter.rights", yet he could post with impunity. I haven't posted over there for quite some time, but I'm still not about to take your word for any of this. For the record, the last time I went there and disagreed with the prevailing wisdom, I ran into some serious opposition, but no official sanction. Maybe it's not your opinions, but you. myata Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 Without commending Rabble, which I haven't visited in years, the obvious problem with Mr.C and the rest that the folks simply cannot honestly grasp that everything (and everybody) everywhere do not have to be identically the same. You don't like their rules - you don't go there. Their forum - their rules. And you clicked the button accepting the rules. Appears simple enough. But apparently, not for everybody. What else? Who's to blame? At least you haven't signed that time share contract (or have you)? Quote If it's you or them, the truth is equidistant
