Topaz Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 While watching the TV today I saw Harper's ad, you know the one were he is sitting by the fire, dressed in a blue shirt and blue vest, talking all nicey. One dealt with the troops, of course, another about his son Ben, who rather be with his friends than his dad etc. I saw then 4X's in a matter of 5 minutes!! Are any other ads out there besides that one??? Please GG say no to Harper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote

cybercoma Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 I'm particularly fond of the commercial where the young girl at the end says, "this will be the first time I vote and I'm voting for Stephen Harper," or something along those lines. Quote

DanInOttawa Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Yes, I think Harper considers himself to be a god. He may not be a god but he sure is a heck of a political strategist. He seems to be above all of the other leaders in strategy. Quote
NDP4Montreal Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 (edited) Ugh...these are the worst political ads ever. Have you been to the Cons' website? They have about 6 ads that all have him sitting in that chair with that annoying "We're better off with Harper..." at the end. Just wait until those start playing nonstop. This entire nation will want that chair engulfed in fire. Maybe it's that annoying...."this is an interview, but not really"...that's getting to me... Edited September 7, 2008 by NDP4Montreal Quote

Every time I flip through the channels there always seems to be one. Ugh, beep beep. That one just gave me a headache. These ads are almost designed to be annoying through the campaign. Oh it's started already? I'm off at school in Arizona (ugh) so I can't watch any Canadian ads (I would say that I'm lucky, but then again I just have the US ads to deal with ) Quote
betsy Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 I'm particularly fond of the commercial where the young girl at the end says, "this will be the first time I vote and I'm voting for Stephen Harper," or something along those lines. Which reminds me of a conversation with two young people at work who'd be voting for the first time. I adviced them to go out and vote. One says he doesn't know anything at all about politics. I said, well how do you describe your views? In the long run he said, "I like the way it is right now." I said, "Then, vote Conservative. Vote for Harper!" Quote

Fortunata Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 I agree. If Dion came on with his ad I would have trouble understanding what he says. Are you that slow? He may not be a god but he sure is a heck of a political strategist. He seems to be above all of the other leaders in strategy. I don't want a good strategist, I want a good Prime Minister. I thought it was a god ad. It shows him as a family man. I can relat. Yes, doesn't it just make you feel warm and fuzzy inside to see the "real" Harper instead of the one we have seen in Question Period for the last couple of years? I guess leopards can immediately change their spots (and we are supposed to buy it) once an election is called. Quote

Yeah..the University of Arizona....totally private funded. It's also called Grad School. I went to McGill for my undergrad, and UA has an excellent program for what I'm interested in. thermo Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 God, these ads are brutal. With that sappy piano music playing and Harper pimped out like Mr. Rogers! I also don't understand this "i'm a family man" crap. it has literally nothing to do with running a nation! like if he was single he'd be unfit for the job (or more so depending on your views). also: i don't really give a f__k about his kid either. Topaz Posted September 9, 2008 Author Report Posted September 9, 2008 Harper is pulling one of the ads about a bird that drops it droppings on Dion shoulder. Harper thought that was in bad taste. I thought Harper oks all the ads put out there. Harper said he thought things would heat up and get dirty and he was right, he always starts things off that way. He hasn't changed he's still the same guy that stands up in Parliament when asked that first question and get his personal attack in! Quote
