  1. How is it they had two years to educate themselves? The Campbell libs imposed the HST less than two months after an election campaign in which they denied that they would do that. I ask you again - where were the consultations, public meetings open forums on the matter?
  2. Therein lies the crux of the matter. The reason people were ignorant of the HST issue was that it was not presented properly, in fact they were lied to. Presumably you are saying the 55% who voted to kill HST were ignorant? People were told during the May 2009 election campaign there was no HST plan. Then in July - Less than 2 months later it was imposed. Where were the studies, consultations, public meetings? The BC Liberals only have themselves to blame for the entire debacle.
  3. The feds surely will be asking for the return of the $1.6Billion.
  4. My point exactly. It is a tax shift no matter what slant they put on it.
  5. It most definitely is a tax shift. Here is what former BC Liberal Finance Minister Carole Taylor had to say about it: “This particular tax takes the tax off businesses – it takes $1.8-billion off of businesses – and puts it on consumers, But I think the bigger issue is that [Premier Gordon Campbell] promised that they would not – they would not – do the harmonization of the sales tax. And then right after the election, decided to do it.” Ms Taylor left cabinet due to her ex boss Gordo's lying ways.
  6. That could change very quickly if we can get a good price and stable supply out of Libya.
  7. But aren't you also assuming that if those people who did vote don't??
  8. Agreed. For those who do not recall, Cristy Clark was deputy premier when the Basi / Virk BC Rail scandal broke. The RCMP also found secret govt documents at the home of Cristy's brother, Bruce Clark who was only an outside consultant at the time. Cristy did not rerun for her MLA seat at next election. She then decided to run for Vancouver Mayor and was beaten by Sam Sullivan. Now that there is an opening for premier and the BC rail scandal 'believed' to be over, she thinks she can come out again. We can expect to see the opposition all over her about setting up an inquiry on the BC Rail issue which saw BC taxpayers pay the $6 million legal fees for the defence - even though they lost. Only one caucus member openly supported Cristy's run for the leadership. The others supported Falcon, Abbott or Dejong. I predict lots of trouble ahead for Cristy Clark.
  9. I can swallow them and they taste good. Iggy is way too flaky for my tastes and based on the ongoing polls, a good number of Canadians agree with that view.
  10. I think it was ducking that flying shoe in the Iraqi parliament.
  11. Oh come on folks, - this tax is actually working! Since it was implemented last year I've noticed there has been a definite cooling in our local weather here in Vancouver. We had one of the coldest winters that I can remember.
  12. Harper will get a bigger minority gov't than he had going into this election. That's nowhere near a landslide.
  13. CTV sure did not help Dion in his recent 'three strikes' interview.

  15. Make no mistake, Ayers is a real live criminal who tried to kill a lot of innocent people. He served jail time for it and was ultimately pardoned by Bill Clinton. Clinton made a lot of stupid pardons. For Obama to have ANYTHING to do with Ayers only demonstrates Obama's lack of judgment. A bit of background: Much of what Ayers self-interestedly leaves out of his book is more personally embarrassing than illegal. Ayers takes care not to dwell on his own Establishment credentials. (His father was chairman of the energy company Commonwealth Edison, a fact Ayers conveys only by writing, "My dad worked for Edison.") Ayers omits any discussion of his famous 1970 statement, "Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, kill your parents, that's where it's really at." He also omits any discussion of his wife Bernardine Dohrn's famous reaction to the Manson killings, as conveyed by journalist Peter Collier: "Dig it. First they killed those pigs, then they ate dinner in the same room with them, then they even shoved a fork into a victim's stomach! Wild!" (In a 1993 Chicago Magazine profile, Dohrn claimed, implausibly, that she'd been trying to convey that "Americans love to read about violence.") link: http://www.boingboing.net/2008/04/21/2001-...le-of-bill.html
  16. Agreed. The gov't. is buying product from these people..... not subscribing to their morality.
  17. I agree. If Dion came on with his ad I would have trouble understanding what he says.
  18. A place that beats up and throws lawyers in jail can't be all bad!
  19. I believe that's exactly what he's doing. Even though he has said he won't run, he has not yet categorically stated he will not run under any circumstances. At the present time he is in no rush, he can save a lot of money by waiting on the sidelines waiting for Hillary or Barack to drop the ball.
  20. Time to lighten up folks. It's intended to be humorous.
  21. And then remember the Sponsorship Scandal of the Liberals? At $250 million we're talking REAL money.
  22. Bunch of stupid people completely ignore the upcoming deadline, pay no attention whatsoever to the news or warnings, and wait until the last minute and - SURPRISE - there's a flood of applications and they have to wait. Oh boooooo hoooooo! If you lose your deposit for that trip to Florida because you only applied for the passport last month - good. Serves you right for being a sub literate cretin. I feel zero sympathy for those people waiting in lines for their passports when they've known about this for over a year. I'm not sure that a lot of these people actually read the news about the deadline for this issue.
  23. neither of those have anything to do with like or dislike of Americans.... do they? Love Me, love my dog.
