The govt picks a line, you can cross it or not. And that applies to every govt.

If they spend 184 days there, the IRS will strongly disagree.

C'mon people 'lets get together on this carbon tax business. Every province and the feds needs a shitload of new tax money and they can pretend they care to get control of our environment and save us from ourselves.

No that is not true. I have never had an employee with a conscience. Except myself. In that case when disputes and moral ambiguities get into a shouting match in my brain I just drink a lot of beer and let them sort it out alone. Your experience may differ.

Oh FFS. Canada has never been more than a middling power with little influence. I spend plenty of time in Europe and believe it or not Harper/Canada was regarded as sober and sane and competent (and boring), Canadas economy through tough global times was seen as an example to follow, and our actual contribution (for the first time in living memory) to some hard times in places like Afghanistan was noted by our friends and allies. Discard the retard meme that Canada is somehow diminished. We've never been global rockstars.

the story has 34000 likes on Facebook when posted, probaby far more now. Clever marketing by the manager.

they are one and the same. Organized labour. is Big Business. Corporations exist to make money for their shareholders. Unions exist to make money for their shareholders, aka members of that union. In a clever, longterm marketing smarm that reality is couched in terms of nobly standing up for the working person.

If you are spending more than half your time out of country, you have another residence.

I am going to put it out there that they disagreed about money and term for AA. He won't have trouble finding a job, and he knows that Rogers won't open their wallets much wider for him to buy free agents. Gibbons will have trouble finding a job. Shapiro is right in that AA emptied the larder in getting the team into the playoffs. The Jays have no pitching at any level really including MLB level, some free agents they will have to offer the moon to keep, no pitching prospects left and a corporate owner that is not in love with much except the bottom line. Do they want to p[ay Price $200 million? Do they want to pay Estrada perhaps $75 million after the first decent season in his career? AA made a deal with the devil in a one shot effort to win it all and came up just short. The new GM has few options- one only really. He'll have to trade for pitching. Luckily, he has some good pieces that he can likely afford to move- the bats in the middle of the order.

Because OAS is not a pension. You don't have to be a citizen to collect it. You don't have to have worked to collect it. CPP is a pension. Your comments ion the generosity of US state and federal medical schemes is pretty funny.

World Series pitcher's father dies, isn't told.

The team respected the request of the mans spouse. It is between them and my opinion means nothing. -
And OF COURSE, taking student loans and entering a field where you come out unemployable is entirely voluntary. And the choice to do so is made by adults. Children are not eligible for student loans. The repayment terms are generous, and like the education itself paid for mostly by taxpayers.

Correct. The six month limit has been around forever. Blame technology.

You are not aware of how pensions and entitlements work. You are not aware of the difference between residency and citizenship. In Canada, health care is provided by provinces, not the feds, and you must be resident in a province. By contrast, neither govt in US provides health care benefits You can collect CPP anywhere in the world, and many Canadians do. OAS is a social benefit and available only to residents. Citizens can vote while away from Canada, but after 5 years away are deemed non-resident and ineligible. What is unfair about that? Why do you allow people with absolutely no skin to vote in your game?

Teachers Union given $1 million for Overtime.
overthere replied to Boges's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Both payments are pretty bizarre. The province should simply be telling the school boards that the provinces payments to the boards will be based only on cost of living. and that they must spend the vast majority of their budget directly in the schools, not is school board offices. Then let them negotiate their deals. There is no rason to fund the unions, they have complete control; over their own revenue via dues to their members. Seriously, WTF is wrong with the ON govt? -
The responsible thing to do would be to consider the options, which are to fix what is there or build something new. I have no confidence at all in the ability of the NCC to do this analysis, or to execute the work with any competence. The next time they work effectively on anything will be the first time. If the ballpark estimate is $10 million, the actual cost be be > $50m. Why not consider building an iconic, modern, high tech residence? You could use the old one to store mold or rodents.

I need to move asap. Is Alberta a very bad idea now?

Many of the houses in better neighbourhoods have electricity now. It is true there is nothing to compare to the cosmopolitan vibe of the Downtown East Side. It is quite unusual in Edmonchuk to have junkies smash your car window for the dime they see on the floor. But it does not sound like it would work for you. -
Trudeau Jr should revisit the greatest economic achievements of Trudeau Sr. I look forward to a round of Wage and Price Controls.

It was not very well played IMO, not by the Jays. More accurately, poorly managed. The 8/9 innings were an example of how not to manage a close playoff game. The Royals scored from first base on a single by being bold, and the Jays were every fortunate that Osuna did not get completely crushed in that situation. Meanwhile, we get runners first and third, nobody out with a blazing fast runner on third and...... Gibbons sits on his hands and watches the season dribble away. You just absolutely have to score a run in that situation, and better managed teams do just that. Or.... shorten up your swing and get a ball on the gropund, give Pompey a chance to score. Even if Navarro fails and the out is made at home, Pillar would be third with one out. Next up, Revere is swinging for the fences to strike out- and opposing pitchers get him out every time with a dirt ball. They missed several chances earlier, the worst being when Goins took a first strike, then could not get a bunt down with nobody out and runners on rst and second. Revere flies out, which would have scored a run then too if Goins had advanced the runners. But in the end there is no doubt the better team won. Congrats to the Jays for a great season, maybe next year. And after that game and that season, did somebody say Bautista was not valuable as trade material?

The Royals will pull out all the stops in this game, and treat it like an elimination game. Expect to see lots of small ball and attempts at run creation. Expect to see their mighty bullpen activated as early as the 5th inning, and their one inning players going two innings. They do not want a Game 7, period. Will the Jays bring in Stroman if Price falters? I think they will. Game 7 is something to worry about, but only f you get there.

so the vast swarm of low and middle income earners in Canada all gain, and soemhow this is paid for by the realtively tiny number of people earning big money, over $250k. It sounds like magic beans, or complete bullshit.

is this a serious question? Is there any mystery at all about what he wants for Russia? Ask Angela Merkel how an attempt at calm talk with Putin went, more than once.

Predict how Canada will look like in 4 years

enough about your petty local bickering. What about Canada? If you want a subway system, raise property taxes and build it. It is that simple. -
Lots of rest may not be beneficial, but setting up your rotation so your best pitch the most is a luxury reserved only for teams that wrap up their LCS early.early.
