Maybe he took my advice before he got it. But he has had a long, long series of crappy movies about himself.

Energy East Causing Uproar
overthere replied to Accountability Now's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
That is unproven, that he is a politician. Or perhaps he is a politician in the pejorative sense, and is unproven as a leader of a country. He has put himself in a very tough position. He either tends to the economic needs of his country, or panders to some of his electorate. Either way, he reaps a whirlwind. I think that he will do all he can to defer a decision, likely by shredding the NEB and suspending their decision. It is the cowards way out, and I reckon he will take it. He could push the pipelines forward, take his lumps from various quarters, and charm them back into his camp over the next few years but..... does he have both the wit and the spine? -

Not surprisingly, you have missed the point entirely. There can be no consensus on pipeline construction. It is impossible. Completely impossible. But the building of this economic infrastructure means much more to the economic health of this country than everybody holding hands in fellowship and harmony. It is one of the things, and a crucial element, of paying for the social contract of which you are so very fervently fond. I get that you don't understand that. But does Trudeau? Is his deep need to be loved by all greater than his ability to objectively assess the situation and base decisions on facts rather than sunny ways? -

all his own doing, too. The opposition in Quebec until now was from the PQ. Coderre and his crew are all mainstream Liberals, Trudeaus heartland in the province. I really, really doubt that Trudeau has the spine to act in the interest of the country, and there is no doubt that Energy East is to the benefit of Canada overall. he will fold under pressure from Quebec. Actually what he will do is send this off for more study, which will take a decade or two. That is just the same as folding. And yes, this may well be the cause of some real, and serious, strife between provinces. I give Trudeau Senior credit for being nobodys puppet. He had no problem making decisions/taking action that Quebec did not care for. I have no reason at all to think the same of his son. -

Trudeau has surely painted himself into another I PROMISE corner.(as in the refugee and ISIS promises, which make no sense) He promised to consult everybody on everyhting including pipelines. By doing so, he has encouraged partisan pond scum like Coderre to believe that every village in Canada has a veto project over every project. He promised to reform the NEB, which seems to work OK. He promised that every project must have social licence, which amounts to a veto. I have a sense of mounting dread. I fear we have elected a Dangerous Fool. -
Harper managed to steer the country through a global recession. He was deft enough that other countries looked to him for advice, or have we forgotten that already? I fully expect Trudeau to create a recession, he has the tools and seems to have the will/intent. Sorry, I meant he has the resourcefulness.

It was not a gigantic turd, but mediocre would be a generous assessment. Smith has a major problem called Will Smith. He does only vanity projects in which he appears in every scene. His talent has long been subordinated by his ego. He needs somebody in his life to explain reality to him, and to take roles that are better in movies that are not about himself. The new Eddie Murphy. Another really sad case for the last decade: Robert de Niro. He seems intent on devaluing a really good career.

It is one of the missing aircraft from 9/11, the one that did not hit the Pentagon. They have been flying aimlessly concealing the vast conspiracy for over 14 years now. There have been several deaths and several births onboard since, its like a flying mini-Woodstock.

So, drugs and better water. I'd add better and more food too,. and vaccinations, sure. Trudeau met with a whole bunch of lobbyists quietly right after being elected. Any Big Pharma there with begging bowls?- 25 replies

so now we'll be putting people in jail for doing what they've been doing in droves for a long time- growing and smoking weed. Except now it is a legal substance. I can make my own beer and wine, but I cannot smoke a spliff unless Ottawa approves the content and process.. Trudeau must see the danger here for him politically, he cannot possibly be this witless.. Much better to fob it off on provinces, let them reap this pending nightmare. -
In a nutshell, why our economy sucks

What happens when you run out of other peoples money to spend? -
That is the problem with math.. Our 'cut and run' routine is a lot more substantive than 2% on the big scorecard kept by everybody. Particularly given the timing, right before the Paris slaughter. Does it matter that Canada or any country does something substantive in the coalition of allies?(and I am going to eliminate handing out blankets and training somebody vague as substantive). Yes it does, because everybody keeps a little scorecard on who puts up, because nobody ever shuts up. It ain't the size of the dog in the fight, its the size of the fight in the dog. And the very first thing that trudeau did at PM-elect was to effectively roll over and show his belly to our longstanding friend and ally. He could have waited, he should have lkept quiet, he could have said 'in light of events, we are re- evaulating." Instead, he showboats and grandstands repeatedly and very publicly, but not another peep about this important international buntoss.. Are these really his chops???

Yet despite the war criminals in charge of drug development, our species is living longer than ever pretty much everywhere. Why is that?- 25 replies

In a nutshell, why our economy sucks
overthere replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
There is a simple reason for my pessimism. It is the lack of leadership both federally and provincially. I agree that we live in a safe country. But 'survival' is'guaranteed' only so long as we can afford the cost of the plump and very costly social contract we seem to now take for granted.. And we are losing track of that, in a time of tight money we once again have a great social engineer at the helm. He has pretty much spent the first 3 months travelling the world and talking to people who are largely dsinterested, while the economic wheels are slowly but surely coming off at home. His only fiscal policy that I can detect is borrow and spend. Oh,I forgot that he took a few weeks vacation between bouts of lecturing foreigners about how great Canada is...he is not going to charm Shell, Microsoft or Gerorge Soros into major investments. The provincial and municipal leadership might be even more disappointing. -

Canada Shunned by Coalition Allies
overthere replied to cannuck's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It was wonderful that Trudeau met with the Shell CEO, just minutes before pointing out that Canada is not interested in the resource sector, something that comes as no surprise to observant Canadians. I've once again enjoyed the intense CBC TV coverage of Trudeau in Davos. I'm surprised they need so many CDN media people to cover Trudeau there. While closing and shuttering local/regional news capacity, the CBC apparently has unlimited money to cover Mr Trudeau dining with Bono etc in faraway lands. . Apparently he is an international megastar now, where is TMZ and the world press? I am so glad he can help the world. Maybe someday he journey to Calgary to offer advice and guidance.- 358 replies

Canada Shunned by Coalition Allies

Chronic and Devoted Official Liberal Mouthpiece The Toronto Star confirms that yes, Canada was snubbed but not only do we embrace the snub, it does not matter because this is 2016.. Meanwhile the CBC, part of the the 'Our Feelings Are Not Hurt' government counteroffensive against Ashton Carter, is mightily confused. http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2016/01/21/canadas-exclusion-from-isis-war-council-a-welcome-snub-walkom.html- 358 replies

I am so excited that our Dear Leader is in Davos. Bono, Spacey and Decaprio really need to hear Trudeau firsthand with the clever wordplay on resources and resourcefulness. That is some quality economic management, yessir. Now that they know that Trudeau is an entirely different person than Harper, things are going to change!- 358 replies

The coalition planning meeting was a story on CBCs The National last night, but they made no mention at all of Canadas abscence. They made no mention of Canada at all. You can only laugh.
-
The British are currently helping their friends and allies at the meeting, unlike Canada.
-
Your third sentence contradicts the first entirely.
-
Our reputation lately is that we are unreliable, prone to rash stupid statements and not to be trusted by our longtime friends and allies. Which we have done for a long time and continue to do. Please retire this old turd.
-
Then you are willfully blind. Our allies have just spoken on that very subject. You can choose not to listen. It is not just the US that is our ally, it is many European countries as well. I can see you are not a NATO supporter. Then you must be a supporter of non aligned status, like Sweden or Switzerland. They also have something in common: they are exceedingly well armed and both of those nonaligned countries punch well above their weight militarily. But if Canada wishes to maintain cordial diplomatic relationships and beneficial trade relations with our former friends and allies, we have to pull our weight in military alliances. Of course. There is no free lunch. Speaking frankly, I don't think that Trudeau has much of a clue about any of this. Every posture has a price.
