Britain Sets Date for EU Referendum -- Brexit

They also make no sense when corporations are unlikely to survive for generations, which is the new reality.. -

You may not have heard that CANADA IS BACK in a big way globally. Justin apologizes if that means you are unemployed. -
Umm, that is entirely a normal method of layoffs at many corporations. It prevents acts of random violence to company property, theft or destruction of data and punches to the mouths of people. Totally normal. The strike is not secret, its the usual stuff about wages and benefits. CPC wants to put new employees on a different pension plan- defined contribution like the rest of the world. I agree about management being bad, in the sense that labour relations are awful and have been for decades. That is a two way street of course. I actually admire CPC management for pressing forward with a coherent business plan in spite of their severe handicaps, which includes a fair chunk f their own workforce. They also have the severe and recent handicap of the Trudeau government. All a strike will do is drive away even more customers. Oh well. Perhaps it will accelerate the postal service into a more modern model, as has happened in several other Western countries. Everybody is just rearranging the deck chairs on The Titanic anyway.

Justin wouldn't want to risk a stern word or steely glance from his Amigo.

They have lost 6 out of their last 8, most of the losses were ugly. The bullpen is simply awful. The 'help ' on the way is Cecil and Morales. Oh joy. Is Atkins still involved with the Jays in some capacity? I am enjoying watching Edwin play his way into a huge contract somewhere else. Maybe he'll give Shapiro a hearty handshake on the way out the door. What does living in the West have to do with anything? The Jays history is: when they win, the crowds come. They won't be coming to this shitshow for much longer.

The Jays bullpen has now gone from a bad joke to a league laughingstock. Chavez and Storen both came into a game we were winning and choked. As usual. I wonder how long Jays fans will continue to fill the building to watch this rubbish?

Britain Sets Date for EU Referendum -- Brexit

In an economic sense, the loss of Scotland would be of benefit to England. How would that enable the EU to punish 'Britain', since Britain would be effectively extinct? It certainly would not punish England, who pour billions into support for Scotland now and in general get back overt hostility.. Down the road, it is much more likely that England would be in the EU than Scotland. Note too that Germany has an overriding, compelling interest in a healthy EU and a moderately valued Euro. The dissolution of the EU/return to the German Mark would be utterly devastating to the German export economy. It explains why they tolerate the antics of Greece, Spain and Italy- it is still much cheaper than the alternative. -

The globalization of labour may not directly benefit you, but doesn't it benefit humanity in other countries? That job sent to India certainly benefits that Indian worker and her family. We cannot have it both ways. Are we progressive or not? -

Northern Ireland voted to stay, and could well end up wanting to join Ireland and leave the UK rather than leave the EU. Scotland has indicated strongly that they want to remain in the EU, and may want another separation referendum soon after the Brexit vote. They have always wanted to join the EU if and when they are sovereign. Nobody wants to talk about the other side of that, which is: does the EU want Scotland? I cannot think of why they would. Does Brussels really need another 5 million people on the dole? -
That must be temporary as he is both nuts and annoying. Loved the little looks Jamie was exchanging the serving girl..... hmmmmm. what is it about her that troubles me.....? Last time we saw Arya, she was adamant about going home to Winterfell. She didn't mention she'd stop in to say 'howdy' the the Freys. She is definitely better to have as a friend than as an enemy. Another fine scene: Oleanna briskly informing the younger SandSnakes of their place in the universe, which in her mind was lower than whale shit. Another fine scene that had us shedding a small tear: Dany telling Tyrion that she was making him Hand of the Queen. It does not look good for the Lannisters at all. Everybody hates them. I doubt they will last long enough to repay their debts. Summary: I was a bit worried about the quality of writing once the scripts had to leave the books. Not any more. This is a very well written and directed series. Downside: waiting a year for more.

They should go with the very best, most qualified jurists. -

The objection is that race, gender, sexual orientation are weighted in the selection for positions that should have as their prime and supreme criteria a profound competence at the law. Did that happen? Are they the very best jurists? The answer is no, because that was not the criteria used to select them. -
Ovie never backchecked in his career until Trotz came along.

EU financial business in London is very substantial. Actually, it was substantial, because 100% of the business that the EU members did via London will be reduced to something approaching zero. There is no way to pretend otherwise: the UK financial services sector took a very heavy blow today. Lots of jobs are gone and they will not be back. -

Yes, I do go to London frequently, including in two weeks time. I do see many people of Birtish heritage people there. Oh, do you mean white people? Yes, I see plenty of those too. -
and like I said before-about 40 pages back...... the increasingly awkward finances of GOT are going to influence the direction of GOT immensely. It is inevitable in these situations: with great success in serial programming comes the need for quick closure because it cannot be sustained. I reckon programs like Fargo and True Detective are more representative examples of the future of TV. The cast changes from season to season, the writing is non-linear and does not require signing the same actors to rapidly increasing paydays. http://deadline.com/2016/06/game-of-thrones-cast-season-8-big-raises-salary-hbo-1201776806/ 15 hours to wrap this gargantuan creation up? It hardly seems possible.

Law schools crank out thousands of grads every year. Most of them are eventually admitted to the bar. They are all competent. That does not make them material for senior judicial appointments. Neither does having a vagina, brown skin, or a non hetero sexual orientation make anybody more than competent than being a white male. Those are metrics that should be irrelevant in assessing excellence, not competence. -

Pure coincidence that a profession utterly dominated by white men only managed how many appointments? 3 out of 15? Majick. I did not state that the appointees were not competent at their jobs, but are they the best jurists? When you invent and then apply the metric of 'diversity' as being a qualification anything is possible innit? Slow clap for the New Order. -

The Leave camp is hampered by the idiocy of those that cling to the past. They think that leaving will result in some sort of noble Rule Brittania situation, with the UK restored to some kind of global role. It won't. And the economy will be damaged. London is still a great city mainly because it is a world financial center. That would change dramatically with Brexit. I think sanity will prevail and they will stay. I don't know why the Brits don't just go it alone on immigration policies. Other large EU players have put their foot down on protecting themselves from Brussels. The EU is at a delicate place: to succeed they need to expand control and have a common fiscal policy. Several countries won't play along, because of the inevitable loss of soveriegnty. The UK has more wiggle room than they seem to want to exercise. -

The requisite qualifications for senior judicial appointments should be : first, you are the best and most competent jurist( defined as an " expert in law") as compared to others with that as their most important attribute . Perhaps we need another word or perhaps another language to describe somebody who is competent in law but also possesses non white skin, a vagina, a limp, sexual orientation or other factors that supersede being "an expert in law". Discuss. -

LOL. Right, just like EI premiums and surpluses were separate under Chretien. -
Hmmm. Don't see a promise to marry him there.....she knows how creepy Petyr is and won't jump from the fire back into the pan. Sansa has had a front row seat to the Big Game for several years, seems to have learned it well, and does not specify a reward. I don't see her lifting her skirt out of duty ever again. Enough of that. His 'reward' might be that he gets to keep his head after selling her to Ramsay Bolton. I wonder too about Littlefinger being out of the Vale for too long, his position there is shaky at best. How does Jon Snow defend Winterfell now from the Lannisters/Freys? The Wildlings are decimated and he has few soldiers.
