North American Passport

The shared currency of the EU(thought they have members who do not use the Euro) has not been an unmitigated disaster, far from it. Nearly all mebers have gained from having a joint currency. The greatest challenge before the EU is fiscal policy. If the EU is to move forward, they need a bunch of members to be willing to surrender more soveriegnty than they already have. Many are balking. -
Clueless or just hopelessly partisan? It is hard to tell., so I'll go with 'both'. Troops from every country involved in the aerial attack on ISIS are close, very close, and have been since before the attacks on ISIS started. They are required to be close to identify and laser-light the targets for Canadian and Allied aircraft. That's how it works. That is the only way to avoid or minimize civilian deaths. Brits, French, Americans etc all have the same people performing the same function. The only difference is that their politicians refuse to comment on their special forces, because it endangers their lives.

What do you think the point of this flick might be? The intended audience for this movie wasn't you, and it wasn't brown people in France. It was made to make the white middle class in France feel warm and fuzzy that liberté, égalité, fraternité was somehow still relevant in their country. It isn't, for a big chunk of their population. You fell for it too. It's as relevant for France as Look Who's Coming to Dinner Was for America 50 years ago. As in, nobody.

Intouchables is a charming story, sweet and funny and we all had a wee cry. What bugged me about it is that it presented a vision of the cultures that is complete fantasy in modern day France. It's a feelgood story about a situation that is far from the norm there. In a sense, Django Unchained was like that. The scene from the plantation where Django has dinner with the white slave owners.... never happen. It all makes for a cute story, but really.....

They built one in a nearby town and it lasted about a year before it closed. They could not get staff in one of the periodic labour shortages. It;s a mattress store now.

The Star starts its Full Court Press against Harper

I never voted for Chretien because I do know better. He's an old school political hack who will be assessed later as one of the worst PMs in our history. Who can forget Adscam, or the 96 referendum when he came within a whisker of snoozing his way through the dissolution of the country? Now that is leadership....... -

children do have a different legal status than adults, unless a court deems otherwise. That is why kids have different rules, and why parents are required to make decisions on their behalf. -
ahem... insiders in the flourishing doughnut business refer to the cycle as 'hole and rim'. hope that helps.

I agree with most of what you say here. But it is far from linear...... The courts do consider the wishes of the minor when they court feels that they are mature enough to hold an informed opinion. It is entirely possible that a 12 to 16 old person has thought about the choices. It is equally possible that they are not capable.. Parents have the repsonisbilyt, legally, to ake decisions for their children. The govt has the responsibility to ensure that the parents act in the interests fo the child. Medicine is a science, but lacks certainty. Doctors cannot speak to an illness with complete confidence. Every one of these is tough. -
It is patchy but intense. Some states have floundered, but more have exploded economically. There is a large and growing middle class that barely existed a generation ago. The most striking change, aside from the obvious increase in general prosperity, was in the number of post secondary schools. India has the 10th largest in the world last year, the 3rd largest by PPP. What has changed in a generation is that India now exports. The annual growth rate for the last decade plus has been huge. What they are missing to become top 5 is infrastructure, and efficent regulatory processes. Until lately, growth has been homegrown, it is hard for foreign corps and investors to penetrate. Their new leader Modi is reportedly going to change both. another ideologue with reading comprehension issues. I'm not claiming anything about cancer, I'm trying to get another poster to demonstrate that air quality in Edmonton is related to disproportionate amounts of cancer. As he claimed. It.s not my theory. Edmonton has nothing at all like the INCO smelter. I've already stated how much and where the heavy industry is in the Edmonton area. There is not much.

It cannot be extended to abortion. Canadian courts have taken the wishes of the minor child into consideration wherever possible. A pregnant child would almost certainly be 12+ years, and their opinion would be considered in any judgement. Same with other medical decisions, and in divorces/custody proceedings. It also depends on the maturity of the child. -

In BC you say? How do you feel about BC exporting heaps of toxic coal to China? It affects China more than BC citizens, so its A-OK? -
No, I'm waiting for you to provide one that links air quality in Edmonton to increased cancers in Edmonton- you know, your claim. So far you've huffed and puffed and indignantly tapdanced around with some really laughable sites, but I am patient.. Take your time.

If he was only two weeks from death, he was already a very poor candidate for transplant anyway. Given that there are fewer organs than there are potential recipients, death panels make these decisions all the time. It's a dirty job but somebody has to do it. It is almost never that easy. Patient A is a 35 year old drunk with six children . Patient B is a 60 year old saint and pillar of the community who caught hepatitis while working on an orphanage in Haiti. One liver available. Both will likely survive surgery. Which one gets it?

Not surprsingly, you have again failed to link Edmonton and cancer. From your own link, and not surprisingly you omitted this is your quote "in a rural area where men suffer elevated rates of cancers linked to such chemicals." Edmonton is not a rural area. Edmonton is not downwind of the industrial areas. Get a map. More baloney. Fort Chip is perhaps 500 kms from Edmonton. Unlike you, I know exactly where Fort Sakatchewan is and also know the prevailing winds. So do the people in your link, who make no claim that Edmonton is linked to cancers. Put up or shut up.
