It does not really look like a challenge to fight from either guy. One of them tucks his head in for a cuddle with Buff. Neither looks at all interested, just a ritual dance. I'd like to see Buff vs Luke Gazdic.

Good call on that, he has had more of his career before 2012 than since then. I guess that would be predictable for a man that is 84 years old and has been in the business for 60 years. He won't be able to reverse that trend unless he works until he is 145 or so. But he has had three major projects since the RNC in 2012: Trouble with the Curve(actor/director), Jersey Boys(producer/director) and now American Sniper(producer/director). The first two were of avwerage quailty, the latter looks like a smash hit. I'd say that is a continuation of an incredible career by normal standards, and an astonishing output for a man of 84. There have been very few like him, in fact I cannot think of anybody that has has a similar stellar career as actor, director and producer. -
One thing the Leafs could and should do is change their captain. It's free.

The 13 year old has a second cousin that used to live in Peterborough. That means primetime here.

Should Mulcair be allowed to run for Prime Minister?

Let's have it, both barrels of relentless pedantry. -
could you be more pedantic? I'm guessing 'yes'. No they are not, they evaulate every claim. Its a gross assumption on your part to assume that UBERs insurance covers every circumstance. Now is a good time to post that link I asked for with one case in Canada where is has covered. Your partisan cheerleading is noted. You're a broker, correct?. Insurance companies dispute claims all the time. But you know that UBERs insurer will just ... pay.. More pedantic tapdancing. The IBC has clearly stated their concern and policy, and they represent the insurers of Canada. You may continue to pretend otherwise. Huh. This is an English language board. Why on earth would a passenger in a public carrier have their own liability insurance? So you have nothing to indicate that an insurer would insure a Uber driver that has fraudulently misrepresented themselves on their insurance application, or when and how exactly that Uber policy might apply when the car owner has failed to obtain correct insurance, as in 'passenger for hire' insurance. Thanks for nothing. Tell me, why do insurers all ask all those specific questions at the outset of every application if they are completely meaningless and have no possibility of consequences when car owners lie?

Nobody has ever claimed that Alberta has wildly inexpensive liquor and I do not recall any AB govt promising that. Cheapo booze was never a premise or a promise. Of course, your own source notes instances where much cheaper vodka(by CDN standards) can be found sometimes in AB and never in BC and SK. Yes they do as compared to the non privatized times long ago. There are far, far more products available from far more venues than previously, and they have far more products as compared to BC or Sask. the old ALCB offered something like 2500 products. BC has the goofiest system of some private and some public liquor stores, with the public stores paying double the money plus benefits for the same work. Other benefits: AB taxpayers are not on the hook for fat civil service pensions, and not obliged to build and repair many buildings dedicated to selling a simple commodity. The taxpayers really just skims gravy at the wholesale level with little taxpayer liability or investment. Sweet deal.

It is part of it, for sure. But don't overlook Iran and some of the Gulf States too. The worm is surely turning on that dynamic though. US foreign policy is partially shaped by oil, and the outflow of hundreds of billions of $US to that region to buy oil. Those days are numbered. The old alliances are shifting. This must be a profoundly disturbing time for Saudi Arabia, one of the cornerstones of their physical security is slip sliding away. I suspect the cost of F-35s for Saudi Arabia- already costly- may increase dramatically. For example. How much will it cost the Kingdom to have a US carrier group make a slow lap of the Persian Gulf on their behalf in the future?

his caucus his caucus PMO none of that is new under Harper. -
The amount of that insurance is zero, according to the insurers. They want their 6000 to 10000 per year for public carrier insurance, as noted in the Journal article linked. No, that is simply your assumption. I'd like to see the Uber contract and their wording on what kind of insurance the driver must carry. And more baloney, there is no 'minimum an insurer must pay'. The minimum is zero. Having a policy does not mean the insurer is obligated to pay simply because there is a claim. Duh. Again, it is clear that the IBC is stating if you lie about carrying people for hire, we will deny your claim. They don't know what you do in your spoare time and don';t care much until your passengers put their broken limbs out for payment. Then they care. They care about your lies and their money. Oh really? Then link to a case where it has happened, where an insurer has been lied to about carrying peopkle for hire and has lost. Bonus points for Uber involvement.

Eastwood has already had several missteps, several movies that have made nothing or were just generally crap. But overall, his movies as an actor made money, and he has had some huge($$$) hits as director/producer, and recently. That means love, baby. Gibson has been in financial decline (meaning lack of profit) for years. One reason is that he has not made the transition from hunk actor to anything else too well. The capper was his insane antiSemitic rants. Buh-bye -
Uber is on hold in Edmonton http://globalnews.ca/news/1783829/edmonton-council-chambers-packed-full-for-uber-debate/ Or rather, the existing bylaws will be enforced for now . http://www.edmontonjournal.com/Edmonton+council+moves+regulate+ride+sharing+companies/10744559/story.html I'd be more interested in getting into a cab if Uber posted a $5 million bond, or if city lawyers determined that the Uber $5 million liability policy was specific to local taxi services and sufficient coverage for the city operations, not the entire country.

It would be more than 57%, since the LCBO also will have a supplier to wholesale markup that your manager friend would not see. The Alberta govt has a model similar to yours for 20 tears that involved eliminating retail operations entirely. It has been a winning proposition at all levels, and particualrly for consumers(and they win again as taxpayers)..

Translation: the Vatican marketing campaign is effective. The Church has lost ground in their traditional markets because of the exposure given to all the child raping activities. In the past, the same horrors happened routinely, but the facts were much easier to suppress and dismiss as 'a bad apple' or ' vicious rumours spread by the Protestants'. In this age of the Internet very little can be hidden. But that works both ways, so of course the Vatican will use the Internet/social media to advantage in spreading the word of a kinder, gentler Pope and Church. In reality, most Catholics adopted modern birth control long ago so the message from the Pope has little relevance except as a marketing tool. In WEstern Europe and North America the birthrate is already low, so little is lost.

Curious that you think having senior management select the entire management pyramid -down to assistant coaches -while leaving the GM and the coach with no accountability-as being 'excellent'. OK. I see I fooled you all with the notion that winning championships is the goal. The real goal for owners in pro sport is making money, and spreading the magic dust of winning on eager fans is like having sparkles on a Twinkie. The Leafs have taken the formula to a new height: making buckets of cash while fielding a bunch of frozen, skating turds year after year. It proves that Harold Ballard was a visionary. By far the greatest achievement in the last decade for the NHL is applying a salary cap. It greatly increases the chances of any team in an expanded league to make money, while taking off the pressure to actually win anything.

Oh, I think Hollywood loves Eastwood. The reason is simple. He makes movies that make money. It is pretty much the whole premise of the place. Executive producers love directors that make money, and actors love directors that make money because that means the actor may well make more money. Politics do not survive accounting. Oh sure, everybody tosses the odd cookie to social consciousness, but you can be absolutely sure that a publicist has attracted a mass of cameramen to capture the celebrity tossing the cookie-or it doesn't happen. -
^^^ There has been very little chat of collateral damage, meaning civilian slaughter in this most recent air campaign. I expect the DND presser was fiction with a wee bit of truth in it..... the targeting is done by SF on the ground and I think that the 2/3 is less than the actual number......and I don't believe that anybody is counting on Iraqi forces for much of anything. I bet the spotting team is in hot water for getting found.

Winning a championship is the goal. The Leafs have gone nearly a half century since they were even in a final, much less won it, so you are forgiven if you've forgotten the purpose of playing.

Should Mulcair be allowed to run for Prime Minister?
overthere replied to drummindiver's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
My niece: born in Canada, resident elsewhere- just did it for both her children, born outside Canada. It was a slow process and also quite expensive. Both her children were born before 2009. She could not get CDN passports for either child until they were determined to be citizens and given documentation to that effect. So, no, it is not automatic. -

No, it is not automatic. An appliciation is required and you must prove parental citizenship. -
What do you think those Canadians were doing on the ground? I'll give you a hint so you don't have to flounder endlessly. How do you think ISIS ground targets are evaluated and selected by the Allied aerial for subsequent air attacks? a) throw a dart at that old Esso map of Iraq b ) pick a direction at random, fly around until you either run low on fuel or see a bunch of people to annihilate c) have advance teams of spotters on both sides of the front lines, special forces from US, Canada, UK and France that are supported by sniper teams, who select targets and direct air attacks while trying to remain undetected..

Target is shutting down its Canadian operation.

OK. Millions of purchasers disagree on the value of their products, your experience may differ. There are specific reasons why their ship is sinking on thses goods, and price vs quality is at the heart. And Sony itself disagrees, they are steadily moving out of many areas of consumer electronics. The reason is what I said above- they no longer make products that consumers are willing to pay a premium to own. Many makers now sell high quality TVs for very little money. They cannot compete in that arena. Where their consumer goods future probably lies is in products like Play Station. They'll end up basically giving them away to entice people into paying endlessly for games. -
Isn't it a bit early for annual Leafs Choke? I predict they'll make a strong comeback, make the playoffs, and break your hearts later.
