  1. Prime minister Layton..... ....When Hell freezes over.
  2. I think it was genuine, but you're right it would be a good strategic move. Nothing like a good victim of a rich and powerful individual to tug at the heart strings of bleeding heart Canadians. The problem lies in the fact that she's now a Liberal, and can do no wrong in the eyes of Ontarians. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't see that as a problem, well for the CONs maybe. muahahahahahahaaaa
  3. You mean the same party that tried an attempted coup d'etat last Tuesday?
  4. No, desperate. BD, I think there are a few people here who would disagree that the Liberals are crooked. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I would disagree (and be correct BTW) that the majority of them aren't.
  5. She's a Tory, they're never wrong, you should know that.
  6. Hey, I feel for the guy He's a human being and he got his heart broken in front of the whole country. I've had mine broken in front of 3 people and that was devestating. I don't know how anyone could deal with what he's going though. That being said it wouldn't make me vote for him, or his party.
  7. Oh clearly. August is right, you guys need to open your eyes. Hate the Conservatives all you want but don't be so blindly loyal. It's embarrasing. If this were anywhere else the people would be in revolt. The Liberal Party is corrupt. Be balanced. Hell I'm one of the most partisan guys around and I can even recognize when too much power has corrupted my party. This is why I now oppose the Klien government, and they are nothing compared to the Federal Libs. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We're not the ones that should be embarrased! Just how easy is it to fool you Tories? Your hate for the Liberals, of ANY Liberal has blinded you so much you're willing to accept: - A bogus confidence vote. - A non-incriminating, clipped section of audio tape. - The Prosecutorial half of a public inquiry. Open YOUR eyes for a change.
  8. Oh, and complaining about it has done a real good job too. That seems to be the Conservative's solution for everything, just like a spoiled brat of a child, just keep complaining until they get their way. I love their solution though, "instead of working together, just let all of us have the power now so we can be happy and the rest of you can be miserable." I'm not saying what has been done in the past was right, but arguing about it is going to solve exactly 0.0% of it. Bah.... never mind, I don't know why I bother.
  9. Hate to burst your CONservative bubbles here, but: PM's COS:So but for all we’re saying in advance of, that I mean, explicit discussions about senate, not senate, I don’t think are very helpful. Grewal:M-hmm PM's COS:Um, um, and, and I don’t think, frankly, can be had in advance of an abstention tomorrow. Then we’ll have much more detailed and finely hued discussions after that with some freedom. And I think, I think what that allows is negotiating room for you. Either direction I mean, you can easily say, look, yeah, you know, if you don’t like, you can stay home, stay back with – where you are or if you do like, we can make an arrangement that allows you to move. Grewal:Okay PM's COS:Um, If that - Now, look I don’t expect to you react to that right now. You can think about it. Uh, Please talk to Ujjal, Ujjal knows this is the discussion I am having with you. Please feel free and say you know whatever you, you know – ah he knows. And then uh, if that proposal is of some interest to you, then um then I will talk to Volpe and get something happening. Now Health Minister Ujjal Dosanjh says that Grewal came to him, possibly hoping to entrap the Liberals. So all I ask is to read that over again with Grewal saying "So, can you guys make my wife and I senators?" Or words to the effect before the recording starts. In any event I'd perfer to hear the whole recording before I passed judgement, of course the Conservatives wouldn't. They enjoy only hearing parts of things they like and ignoring the rest.... Hmmmm why does that sound farmilliar? Sounds to me like he's just willing to sit down with an opposition MP and hammer out an agreement to get him on side. Notice how he's not offering him anything? Notice how the mention of the Senate is right at the beginning of the transcript so we don't know in what context it was being said? And even then the only mention of Senate in the tape is met with a negative reaction? Sad thing is this garbage will probably fool people.
  10. a Conservative MP actually made a tape of a conversation he had with the Prime Minister's Chief of Staff. Pathetic. PM's COS:So but for all we’re saying in advance of, that I mean, explicit discussions about senate, not senate, I don’t think are very helpful. Grewal:M-hmm PM's COS:Um, um, and, and I don’t think, frankly, can be had in advance of an abstention tomorrow. 11. As a Liberal, I wish that things like this didn't happen. I wish that my leaders didn't alienate parts of the country. I know how you feel as well, when I hear Steven Harper call my fellow Atlantic Canadians and I a "Culture of Defeat" I think it's uncalled for and doesn't help anyone. I wish that we had a system that allowed all parts of the country to be represented whether they've got a voice on the government side of Parliament or not. The only problem I have with some "SOME" people from out West, especially Alberta is they seem to think they're better than everyone else. The same can be said for people from Ontario and Quebec. I think the sooner we all learn we're all in this together the better off we'll be.
  12. Ahem? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The difference is I was joking. I know she is an independent thinker, and that admonitions on this forum don't have much sway with her. You liberals prey on the slow and the media inspired masses. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, we prey on the informed. Unlike the tories who made a big fuss out of voting for C-43 and against C-48 even though a vote on either destroys the whole budget. I bet the people of the Atlantic Provinces would be interested to know the Tories tried to decieve them, just like they tried to decieve Canada by saying something that wasn't a confidence motion was. Coup D'etat anyone?
  13. Well, the truth does hurt. God forbit a woman take pride in her appearance, and if the Conservative's best argument for not voting for her is her choice of clothing then they're far more lame than I thought they were (and that's pretty lame) Yes kimmy! stay in the darkness with the far-righters!Seriously tho, I stand by what I said you should do before kimmy, follow your heart.
  14. C-48; being a bill dealing with the disbursment of public funds (a money bill) is by default a matter of confidence. A government loss on any bill dealing with the spending of public funds (or change in taxation for that matter) is by definition a matter of confidence. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's fine, I was just wondering.
  15. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the government falls the bill doesn't go to the senate and dies on their order paper doesn't it? Or do budgets go to the Senate?
  16. It all comes down to Cadman, and if he is a man of his word does what his constituants tell him we'll have glorious Liberal rule until autumn. But what I think should happen is Harper releases his Atlantic MPs so they don't incurr the wrath of their voters. However obviously I'm hoping he's too stupid to do that.
  17. kimmy, I think what you should do is take a look at all the issues that mean something to you, figure out where you stand, find the party that most closely represents that and fight for them with all you've got. That's what I did. Sure I get involved in the partisan games, I find a lot of it fun, but I'm not just a Liberal because I like the color red, or I don't like the Conservatives, etc. I'm a Liberal because they're the party that is closest to what I believe in. Some of the things they do, some of the positions they take I disagree with, but that's where you get involved, join your local riding association and try to change it from the inside. And if you fail, at least you know you tried. I hope you find what you're looking for. -Murray
  18. If I were you, I would wait until an election call and then take a look at all the parties platforms and go with the one that you like the best. Other than that, maybe you should run yourself
  19. Hmmm, didn't know, I thought she was only here for 2 day. It remains a mute point however as the government is going to win the confidence vote, and there won't be an election.
  20. She's leaving on Wednesday, and it's tradition that the Queen won't come into the country when there is an election, because the Primie Minister is obligated, also by tradition, to host the Queen while she's here and she doesn't want to give the appearance she's favoring one party over another. Now whether anyone would actually change their vote based on this is another matter, but it would give Harper one more thing to complain about, and for the love of GOD we don't need that.
  21. I think I will vote if it's all the same to you, and convince as many others as I can to follow suit.
  22. Cage, it's HisHighness from the Politics Canada forum, and I'll say it again: Another spot on assessment from the Cage man.
  23. In the 2004 election, in one of the lowest things I ever seen in politics (even counting the U.S.) the Conservative Alliance accused Paul Martin of being pro child porn. Which is odd considering he has children of his own. Obviously that didn't sit well with some Conservative Alliance supporters.
