Oh my God! A member on here who can take a joke! Are we recording this? Alert the media! THE END IS NEAR!
-
That's cool, I mean if you guys want to live in la la land who am I to stop you?
-
What else would you call someone who would rather vote for a poor leader who's strait than vote for a great one who happens to be gay? If they truly wern't a homophobe then they would see the poll like this: IF ever you had to choose between a good PM or a bad PM for who would you vote ? The good PM? The bad PM?

I think I'm the lone voice from Manitoba on this board, so I better defend my province! We are doing quite well with an NDP government, and I don't anticipate change any time soon. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah how hard is it to run Manitoba? Just sell wheat!
-
Well I'm a Liberal and I don't think they're unfit to lead. But in answer to your question it's probably as simple as: "Better the Devil You Know" besides every province the NDP has ran they ran it into the ground.
-
Whose the lone homophobe vote?
-
not in the slightest. Of course my favorite MP, and my name sake on this board, happen to be openly gay as well, and I couldn't care less.

I hate partisanism as far as the media goes, If I turn on a program I want to hear debate, I don't want to hear some Conservative garbage or some Liberal Pep rally. That's why my favorite Political program to watch is Politics with Don Newman on CBC Newsworld, because he seems to be non biased, he asks all parties tough questions and tries to cut through some of the spin they put forth.

Well in all fairness most of the trouble we have in the world is the American foreign policy's fault. Al Qaeda is their fault, they sent troops into Afganistan to beat the Soviets and when they were beaten they just bailed, leaving all the weapons they had given the afgans, leaving their infrastructure destroyed, their society poor, and their government in chaos. -

Am I the only one who's never heard of NESARA? Edit: now I know why I've never heard of it, it's a flower-power operation. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go smoke some pot and trip out on the stars. The "National Economic Security And Reformation Act" - NESARA - provides major benefits to Americans including: * Forgives credit card, mortgage, and other bank debt due to illegal banking and government activities * Abolishes income tax * Abolishes IRS; creates flat rate non-essential "new items only" sales tax revenue for government * Increases benefits to senior citizens * Returns Constitutional Law * Establishes new Presidential and Congressional elections within 120 days after NESARA's announcement * Monitors elections and prevents illegal election activities od special interest groups * Creates new US Treasury currency, "rainbow currency," backed by gold, silver, and platinum precious metals * Returns Constitutional Law to all our courts and legal matters. * Initiates new U.S. Treasury Bank System in alignment with Constitutional Law * Eliminates the Federal Reserve System * Restores financial privacy * Retrains all judges and attorneys in Constitutional Law * Ceases all aggresive, US government military actions worldwide * Establishes peace throughout the world * Initiates first phase of worldwide prosperity distribution of vast wealth which has been accumulating for many decades * Releases enormous sums of money for humanitarian purposes * Enables the release of new technologies such as alternative energy devices This must be done by the Green party or something. Damn you! You had my hopes up with the words "Bush, Cheney, and Resignation." in the same sentence! DAMN YOU!!!!!!!!! Setting aside for the moment that these changes would require massive amendments to the constitution which requires the support of 3/4 of the states, does anyone seriously think any politician is going to vote for a bill that would curtail his power? -

Did the NDP read the fine Print?
ScottBrison replied to Canuck E Stan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Heh, because if they don't retain power they can't do anything for anybody. I'm not a complete homer, I know the gun registry was a bad idea from start to finish and I never supported it. That being said everyone who's not deluding themselves knows that no government is perfect, they are ran by people and people make mistakes. I think the fact that they are finally looking at a national daycare program at all is a good sign, it makes me feel if I ever have a little one runnin around I won't have to worry quite so much. I just wish that all government would work more cloesly together on these issues. -

I've always said to anyone who asks I don't mind paying taxes as long as they go toward programs I care about such as Health Care, Education, etc. I personally don't agree with the Conservative fiscal policy of tax cuts just for the sake of tax cuts. I like the way it's going now, we're slowly paying down the debt, reinvesting into social programs now that our years of fiscal prudence have paid off and we actually can afford it and the economy is slowly getting better. I live in Nova Scotia so I've seen what poor fiscal management could do, unfortunately the average voter hears "tax cut" and thinks it's a great thing, in nova Scotia our Tory Premier promised a tax cut that he knew we couldn't afford, the Liberals took the high road and campaigned against the tax cut and the Tories won. They put their tax cut in and a few months later not only had to raise it back up but also had to claw back the amounts that had been lost because of it. Then of course they blamed the feds for not giving them enough in equalization, even though low and behold those numbers were known months before the election was even called. I can also be open minded and realize the Gun Registry was a huge mistake, not only in fiscal management but also the whole idea of it was pure idiocy, but the thing is mistakes can be made, and thanks to the sound fiscal management of the past these mistakes can be made without destroying the entire economy of the country. The Sponsorship scandal is overblown, if you take the total amount alleged to have been taken and divide that by the number of years the program was running it's an insignificantly small number. That doesn't mean I don't think the underlying corruption of the handful of Liberals who were involved is troubling, but when you hear the Conservatives spout off about it you'd think it was a trillion dollar program. -
Does anyone know where there is a link to the text of this letter? I'm one of those guys who likes to see the evidence before I pass judgement, I watched Question Period the other day and there was a buzz about this letter but I can't find a copy of it anywhere, only references to it by media.

They're like a toothless lion trying to frighten the liberals with their roar. I personally hope they bring down the government then we can get back to a majority liberal government and get this country on the right track. -
Tory support plummets
ScottBrison replied to The Terrible Sweal's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Okay, now can we have a discussion or should I spend my time finding witty ways of calling you a homer. Dispute that our health system is failing. Show me how it isn't. Show me the new state of the art military equipment. Point me to the progress made on reducing CO2 emissions. Our universities are harder to get into and the cost is going up in leaps and bounds. Is that not reality. What have the Liberals done to improve this place. What? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well for one they're trying to make it so that public stoning of gay people doesn't become commonplace.....
