  1. What province does Toews hail from? I'm really surprised that anyone with these kinds of stone age ideas, actually has any chance of being elected, anywhere in our great land, unless of course he is from.................
  2. Martin's Liberals running out of ethical capital I remember all the hulabaloo when PM Martin first became leader of the Liberals and the media hype surrounding him suggested he was going to win 250 seats. Now he can't even get a majority goverment. What a disappointment PM Martin has become to the Canadian people.
  3. Harper, caucus split on secret tape furor How in the world do these people ever aspire to becoming our national government with headlines like this? Maybe the press actually is biased against them.
  4. Same-sex nuptials law by summer, Liberals say This legislation should pass easily with the support of the New Democrats and the Bloc. It's about friggin' time!
  5. If I remember correctly Lucien Bouchard was part of the Mulroney regime.
  6. Let's face it. Without a videotape showing Martin handing the money to Grewal people like you wouldn't believe anything was amiss anyway. Even then you'd probably believe whatever excuse Martin gave you. But for ordinary people, this is more confirmation of the sleaze of the Liberal government, and a confirmation of how dear Belinda was paid off for switching sides. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually it shows the sleaze of both right wing parties, the Liberals and the Conservatives, and I agree that the Liberals were on the ropes with Gomery and this attempt to get MPs to switch parties by offering inducements to them, has given the Liberals a bit of breathing room. Where do we go from here as I think this whole Grewal situation is going to be a tempest in a teapot?
  7. Officials welcome possible transit funding Imagine Liberal politicians actually doing what they promised during an election campaign, with a little encouragement from the New Democrats of course.
  8. 'Sit into the summer,' Liberals warned This is quite incredible how 19 New Democrat MPs control to some extent the government's agenda. If the NDP can be this effective with only 19 MPs, imagine what kind of impact they would have with only 40-50 MPs after the next election.
  9. I agree about NOT leaving your purse unattended around those three. It is spelt Dosanjh by-the-way.
  10. The GTA will be an interesting battleground this time around. Layton's coattails will create gains for the New Democrats here.
  11. For sure Grewal & his wife's seats are up for grabs next time round - add 2 more for the New Democrats from BC. I believe the Layton New Democrats are going to exceed their wildest expectations.
  12. A Serial Taper What a tempest in a teapot!
  13. Ontario Libs: 45% Cons: 29% New Democrats: 24% Any polls coming out this weekend - I'm looking forward to seeing the results since Grewal/Dosanjhgate erupted.
  14. Globe headlines, Wednesday to Saturday Too bad our media are so skewed.
  15. Things change very quickly in politics. Today Vancouver radio station CKNW stated the top three Conservative members of Parliament had cut Grewal loose. Grewal will end up looking the worst in this sordid affair. Following him closely behind will be Dosanjh, Murphy, & Martin. Grewal has effectively ended his political career - another seat for the New Democrats in the next election!
  16. Harper, MacKay, and Reynolds, the 3 top Conservatives cut Grewal loose, saying he went too far in taping the negotiations. Their internal polling must be horrific on this issue.
  17. What does this tell you! Criminal Code Section 119 119. (1) Every one who (a) being the holder of a judicial office, or being a member of Parliament or of the legislature of a province, corruptly (i) accepts or obtains, (ii) agrees to accept, or (iii) attempts to obtain, any money, valuable consideration, office, place or employment for himself or another person in respect of anything done or omitted or to be done or omitted by him in his official capacity, or ( gives or offers, corruptly, to a person mentioned in paragraph (a) any money, valuable consideration, office, place or employment in respect of anything done or omitted or to be done or omitted by him in his official capacity for himself or another person, is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding fourteen years.
  18. "No offer was made... He wouldn't take 'No' for an answer"
  19. Tea is served. I prefer Chai tea myself.
  20. Liberal motto: "We can FIX anything".
  21. Martin in loop to poach MP: Tapes These revelations, at first brush, looks quite devastating for PM Martin, Murphy, Dosanjh, and probably the entire Liberal government. Maybe we will be having an election this spring after all. And which party does Grewal vote with now as he obviously wanted a Liberal cabinet position, etc.?
  22. Liberals blamed for House rancour Interesting perspective although me thinks perhaps a little too one-sided perhaps.
  23. Canadians See Layton as “Most Honest” Leader So amid all the sleaze of the Gomery Commission, Grewalgate, etc., Jack Layton is beginning to shine in the eyes of the average Canadian voter. This confirms for me that the New Democrats are going to have substantially more seats following the next federal election.
  24. Grewal tape shows Tory offered position: CTV This is really starting to smell - what are the RCMP waiting for?
  25. It is much simpler than it might first seem. You see Jack isn't that noble he is just playing politics. In BC where Grewal is from, the NDP has the best chances of gaining seats in the next election. Jack is just trying to play regional politics. Grewal for those not from these parts represents a strong provincial NDP riding. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Have to hand it to you. Either the Conservatives or the Liberals, or possibly both of these right wing parties, might be commiting illegal acts here, and you attempt to discredit the New Democrats. What a croc!
