And there are other experts who say differently, as I just heard one on radio one. Since when are the MSM unbiased observers, eh!

Who Should Decide On Mines That Pollute?
bigdude replied to bigdude's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
And what about wind energy? Do we need the federales to intervene here as well? I think so! B.C.'s wind energy touted -
Give it a break. There were weekends involved and there were translation issues to deal with. So far all we have to go on is Liberal hype that the tapes have been altered.
-
Nonsense. I just listened to the CBC tape expert who said what people have been listening to, including the tape experts, are a tape of a tape, and that we will never know for certain that the tapes were altered. Like we are going to take Dosanjh's word for it, right! The reason Dosanjh has suggested it is because it will never be proven. So let's lose the hype, eh!
-
Article Unfortunately mines cause serious pollution problems. Who should be making these decisions about starting up, or expanding a mining operation, so that the Canadian public, the first Nations people, the environmentalists, and the Investment community, are all adequately represented? I am beginning to realize that we cannot rely on our feeble bot off provincial governments to properly address the issues, and that the federal government should be at the table for all discussions. What say you?

Combining the above, with allowing the Christian right to take over many of the recent party nominations, will at least spell a real serious disaster for the Conservatives in the next election: Why Stephen Harper is going to lose more sleep
-
Dosanjh has suggested that Harper had a role in alterating the tapes. If this turns out to be true will this effectively end Harper's career and will the Conservatives become a rump party? Article

Conducted in conjunction with the Institute for Research on Public Policy (IRPP), a new SES-IRPP-CPAC survey indicated that over four in ten Canadians (43%) believed that Prime Minister Paul Martin and former Prime Minister Jean Chretien should both take responsibility for activities uncovered by the Gomery Commission. Another 29% said Paul Martin alone should take responsibility, while 16% said that Chretien should take the blame by himself. "Interestingly, Quebec voters were more likely to believe that former Prime Minister Jean Chretien should take responsibility for the sponsorship scandal," said SES President Nikita Nanos. "However, among Canadians outside of Quebec, this opinion flips. Canadians from outside of Quebec are more likely to believe that Martin should take responsibility when compared to Chretien." "The impact of the Gomery Inquiry on the public perception of Prime Minister Martin should give political leaders pause," according to SES President Nikita Nanos. "It appears that the best motives and a proactive open approach are no guarantee of gaining public confidence." The results with the regional breakdown is available on the SES website (www.sesresearch.com). An analysis by Nikita Nanos is also available in the June issue of Policy Options - the official magazine of the IRPP. Polling April 30th to May 4th, 2005 (Random telephone interviews of 1,000 eligible Canadian voters, 18 years of age or older, MoE ±3.1%, 19 times out of 20). Percentages may not add up to 100 due to rounding. Question - Who should take responsibility for activities uncovered by the Gomery Commission: (Read and Rotate) Prime Minister Paul Martin, former Prime Minister Jean Chretien, both or none of them? Both - 43% Paul Martin - 29% Jean Chretien - 16% None of them - 6% Unsure - 5% Question - Do you follow the work of the Gomery Commission very closely, somewhat closely, not very closely, or not at all? Very closely - 12% Somewhat closely - 47% Not very closely - 26% Not at all - 13% Unsure - 2% Question - During his nationally televised address, Paul Martin apologized to Canadians for the activities that were uncovered by the Gomery Commission. Did your impression of Paul Martin improve, stay the same or worsen because of the apology? Improve - 17% Stay the same - 59% Worsen - 16% Unsure - 9% For in-depth coverage of the poll with SES President Nik Nanos, watch PrimeTime Politics with Peter Van Dusen on CPAC - Canada's Political Channel, live tonight. Mayors to party leaders: pass the budget now Do you think Jack Layton's New Democrats are heroes to these mayors, or what, eh!
-
June 2, 2005 - Bits & pieces, this & that: This tape issue is a tempest in a teapot, and all the Liberals here are focusing on it, while all the Conservatives here are focusing on the behaviour of the Liberals.
-
Trust me more Canadians care about the budget being passed than anything whatsoever to do with SSM. The clock is ticking Mr Martin. You had better stop dithering or you're going down in flames: Martin May Seek to Extend Parliament Session to Pass Budget

Fight heating up over ‘no-fly’ lists Too bad the Liberals and the Conservatives don't have the kuhones to stand up to these US bullies.

Article About someone who actually cares about what happens to our environment, someone who walks the talk as they say, instead of the right wing useless platitudes from the Liberals and the Conservatives.

PM won't discipline aide, minister over tapes Another PM Martin mistake except how can he do the right thing when he is involved in this up to his eyeballs.

Toews: 'Free Vote' on Same Sex Marriage
bigdude replied to takeanumber's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yeah I know I can't walk by a church or temple wihout being seized by the urge to beat someone's head in with a baseball bat. Seeing as how I live across from a very nice synagogue, you can imagine the trouble this causes me. And for an alleged NDP'er to argue in favour of entrenched social norms? Fuggetaboutit. Those are the same norms that once deemed homosexuality a crime. If someone is wearing a turban, a burka, a yamulke or a crucifix and minding their own damn business, how is that hurting you? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How is nudity hurting you - it isn't, but we don't allow it. Get it! -

Black dog....give it a break. We have societal norms - people don't run down the street naked. And yes nudists don't like it. Tough! Same goes for religion. Public displays of religious artifacts are divisive and lead to violence and warfare. Nuff said. -

All forms of displaying religious symbols should be banned from public view as most Canadians don't wish to be subjected to them. No problem in the privacy of your own home or in your temples of worship but stop with the missionary work, eh! PS Religious symbols should be treated the same way we treat clearcuts in BC. Do your destruction if you must but cover it up with vegetation or whatever, so the public doesn't have to view it when they are passing by in their vehicles, etc. -

Oh, Alberta doesn't have public transport, I forgot! -
Screw your cutting sentences in half and misrepresenting people. Pathetic.

Some things are just so basically common sense it never occured to me to provide documentation - just look at any questionnaire on what matters most to Canadians. I can assure you that jobs and the econony rank substantialy higher that crap like opposing SSM. MYOB. -

bigdude replied to bigdude's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Except that the Liberals have the discpline of remaining united. Contrary to a lot of the hype here at MLW, SSM is not the burning issue of the day for most Canadians. Quite frankly most Canadians outside the gay community and the Conservative community don't give a shit about it. -
June 1, 2005 Who cares if the tapes were doctored, as that is for the police to sort out. This altering of the tapes is a red herring thrown in by Dosanjh to try and take the heat off the Liberals. Bye, bye Ujjal.

Waiting for rock bottom Things have definitely taken a serious turn for the worse in Ottawa. Power does seem to corrupt doesn't it!
