NDP names champion to take on Valley The very fact that the NDP are continuing with the nomination process tells me we are going to have an election, or the threat of another election, sooner rather than later. I guess they don't expect the Martin Liberals to deliver on the NDP Budget deal!
-
Harper: Making Martin look good I don't always agree with Duncan Cameron however this article is dead on! Martin has been an unmitigated disaster but he is looking not too bad these days because of Harper's idiotic and braindead knee-jerk reactions to the Liberal tactics and antics.

Thousands of workers to convene in Montréal to strengthen their political ties My kind of convention, eh!

Was Canada Just Too Good To Be True?
bigdude replied to bigdude's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Since when? Ever heard of Duplessis? He was a Quebecker pure line as Parizeau would say, a francophone Quebec politician, and corrupt as hell. My purpose here is not to denigrate Quebeckers nor francophones but to suggest they are any less croocked than any other group in Canadian society is NOT on. Come on August, you can do better than that. -
Was Canada Just Too Good To Be True?

Well I would certainly like to see Canwest and the other MSM stop their massive financial contributions to the BC liberals or any other political party. These payments border on what happens in a totalitarianism society and deny us a free press or free media as it now called. -

The difference is they are not whining about their country every day like it is some Russian Goolag like you are. You can always come up with excuses not to do something. As if the US would want Canadian malcontents anyway. -
I think the NDP strategy was right on - focus your money and resouces where you have a chance of winning. The NDP knew the Liberals were going to win big in Labrador so why bash your head against a brick wall like Harper and MacKay did. All their efforts have done in Labrador is reinforce the image that the Conservatives look like the losers they are once again. Those two guys should never have gone near the riding. What poor political strategy - what clowns they are!

Was Canada Just Too Good To Be True?
bigdude replied to bigdude's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I find it quite amazing how people come here and post messages about how they dislike or hate their country Canada. No one is forcing anyone to stay here - we are a free society where people are able to get up and leave if they are unhappy here. As a matter of fact I would recommend that all the unhappy Canadians leave Canada as apparently you would all be much better off somewhere else. What a bunch of whiners. -
Religious Schools - A Form of Child Abuse?

Kids could do worse than have vegetarian diets - why don't you lose the cattle industry bs that is constantly being shoved down our throats. -
Another Liberal Good, Conservative Bad Article

Just imagine how even better we would be with electoral reform and a system of PR securely in place. Too bad the real democratic deficit is not being addressed. -

Given their track record I don't think many people would take a comment from Russia concerning corruption very seriously. What's that expression: "Calling the kettle black or something like that"? -
Survivor: Ottawa There you have it in a nutshell folks, why the Liberals are in power so much more than anyone else. gotta respect them for at least one thing and that is they never lose track of the ball. Their goal is to get elected and stay elected and they usually accomplish it. It is just too bad the rest of the country pays a huge price for it.

I'm not hyperbole is going to help us address our shortcomings. -
Come on Belinda, Paul - what do you take us for? Stronach's unity cloth a little threadbare
-
Was Canada Just Too Good to Be True? Intesesting assessment of our society, not necessarily entirely accurate however this article is a good read. We obviously have to do something to pull up our socks. I'm not sure we can take too much more reality.

Conservatives Tried To Bribe Cadman
bigdude replied to bigdude's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It has be proven that NDP governments overall are the most fiscally responsible governments Canada has ever had. Every year for the past how many is it now 6, 7 years we have had a much larger surplus than forecast by the government. so the reality is is that there is a huge surplus and the 4.6 billion dollars is a drop in the bucket in the overall scheme of things. And by investing in people now it will pay dividends down the road. -
Tim Murphy and the federal Liberals
bigdude replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I wonder if Tim Murphy is going to go to jail. The Tories have decided to release all the tapes, and apparently the law is pretty explicit about what you can and can't do, as far as offering incentives to an MP to sway their vote is concerned. -
And I would suggest that by NOT settling land claims terrorism has a much higher chance of occuring.

This is quite a sad commentary on our school system all due to the God of competition. We really do need the federal government to take over education and straighten out this and the other messes it is in. For example what is stopping all our schools from being bilingual in Canada when this is what the vast majority of Canadians want?
-
It is bad enough that we have to accept an aparthied-like system in Canada which gives special rights to people based on thier race. It is a mistake to create new 'races' in order to hand out even more entitlements. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Huh, create new races? Why don't we try settling their (First Nations) land claims before we complain about them?

Auroa Newmarket will definitely be taken by Liberal Stronach with a substantial margin in the next election. I think a resomnable question to ask these days is will the Conservatives win 75 seats in the next election, and if so where? I have my doubts.
-
Liberals take the riding as expected. Interesting that by-elections usually are won by the opposition, however in spite of Harper & MacKay's best efforts, the Conservatives have gone down to a crashing defeat. Oh, my, what are the right wingers going to do now as they can't convince Canadians anywhere outside Alberta to support them? Go JacK Layton's NDP Budget Go!

New Democrats Bask In Their Glory Today
bigdude replied to bigdude's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I am looking forward to the polls over the coming months leading up to the next federal election as they will probably show gians by the Layton New Democrats at the expense of all three of the other federal political parities the Cons, the Libs & the Blocs.
