Liberals introduce 'NDP Budget' measure to protect workers Another feather in Jack Layton's hat.
-
Layton tells Canadian municipal leaders to push MPs for 'New Democrat budget’ Yup Jack sure has a has a valid concern. If this budget is not passed there's going to be a lot of anger in our gentle land.

MP O'Brien quits Liberals Apart from O'Brien's comment above, it boggles my mind that our government is now threatened over SSM an issue that most Canadians apart from the religious fundamenalists don't give a damn about. Only in Canada. If this keeps up the independents are going to outnumber some of the political parties. Imagine real democracy in Canada void of party politics. What's just as fascinating is, from the same article:

Cities TO Get Seat At Federal Table
bigdude replied to bigdude's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I wonder what Jack Layton has to say about this as he was addressing the CFM today as their keynote speaker, and after all he appears to be calling the shots to some extent in Ottawa these days. -
Just like health care, education, all forms of it, should be paid for out of general taxes, or if career oriented, put back on the backs of employers, when it previously was, and certainly belongs Participants offereded free education will easily pay back 10 fold in taxes what their education costs. After deductions for the white burocracies, I wonder how much the band councils actually get per capita.

Duceppe not necessarily Landry's successor The timing of Laundry's resignation could not be worse for Duceppe - tough decision for him. Now will see a bit more what he is made of.

Tissue of sleaze in shreds

Good question as she has been totally silent yet she was mentioned in some of the negotiations. Where is Nina in all this? -
Cities TO Get Seat At Federal Table
bigdude replied to bigdude's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Precisely my point, and the reason for the thread title. PM Martin is talking through his hat offering things that he has no jurisdiction over but so typical of him. He comes across verbally as wanting to be on everyone's good side but in reality he delivers dick. You know something similiar to that massive majority government of 250 seats he was supposed to win in the last election. PM Martin is becoming more and more of a baffoon every day. Mr Dithers will be a very mild description before he is done. -
Cities to get say at federal level, vows PM There he goes again promising everything to everybody. He really is a compulsive liar, our prime minister.

Face It: We Don't Really Like Children
bigdude replied to bigdude's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Melanie......as I have a feeling you already know, it is amazin what love can do for starters. From what I have seen of children it seems that most children get either too much praise or not enough, and my experience is that if an adult has to err, a child is better off by receiving too much love, as opposed to not receiving enough love. -
What a cop out! Look you can always find an excuse NOT to contribute, and you can rationalize Not to do almost anything like you two have. The reality is though that this does nothing to solve the problem, and the problem needs to be addressed. Canada has a huge abundance of every material thing possible - what's wrong with sharing what is the percentage Bono requested, 0.07% of our GNP. Wow, what a staggering amount. It will probably bankrupct Canada NOT! The overriding reason for government in a social democracy is to take resources away from the mean-spirited greedy folks and redistribute it to the needy. I wish Stephen Lewis would run for political office again.

How dare McKenna talk to Canadians this way although I know MLW is full of US ass-kissers so I can just imagine the brilliant comments and books you will refer my way. Spare me your raw-raw US publications. The best thing Canada could do, and I know it isn't going to happen, would be to cancel all trade agreements with our Southern bully. You go ahead and ass-kiss and see what good it does you. Mad cow anyone!!! Security anyone!!! Mahar Arar anyone!!! Softwood lumber anyone!!! Give me a break - you folks are a bunch of clowns! Why don't you go and audition at the Circque de Soleil?

Canadians need new attitude: McKenna What an absolute jerk PM Martin has appointed as our US Ambassador! McKenna should be recalled and fired. How dare this little Liberal weasel make comments like this to Canadians. If he wants to kiss American butt he can go right ahead - maybe the US should be kissing Canadian ass for everything we do for them. And he represents Canada. Jeesh! There has been something bothering me about McKenna ever since I became aware he was involved in politics. and I have been having a hard time putting my finger on it, but I think what it is, is a lack of sphistication, or savoir faire perhaps. I really was hoping he was going to become the Liberal leader because with McKenna the Liberals would have sunk like a stone. And actually Canada needs a new US Ambassador!!!

You need to lighten up - it's the weekend!

The New Democrats need to take the money and run. As soon as this New Democratic budget is passed, Jack needs to move as far away from these Liberal slimeballs as soon as possible. Unless of course there are some additional offers on the menu.

I am wondering if this division in the Tory Caucus has a bit more to it than what has been reported so far. Is this Peter MacKay's first shot across Harper's bow in a challenge for the Conservative leadership?

Canada falls short in foreign aid cash, Lewis says How embarassing this must be for Mr Lewis working in conditions like that. So much for PM Martin's pledge to Bono, eh! I think our prime minister is a compulsive liar.

Layton Calls On PM Martin To Step Aside
bigdude replied to bigdude's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Tell that to Canada's mayors who are meeting this weekend. These 19 New Democrat MPS, who are working their butts off btw, are having the biggest impact on the current government. Layton is now the most trusted federalist leader in Canada, not too shabby a performance. -
Good suggestions!

So with your approach we are going to continue to steal their land. Their land, not our land. Great strategy which I'm sure will help them immensely. With strategies like you propose no wonder they are screwed.

Face It: We Don't Really Like Children
bigdude replied to bigdude's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Here's an idea for the few out there that really do like children: To Rescue a Child from Foster Care, Adopt If we adults know this what's our problem with adopting these kids, eh! -
How about white Canadian society living up to its obligations and settling our First Nation people's land claims? That would make a good beginning. They will never dig themselves out of their situation with our holding onto their land for which they have legal claims which have never been extinguished.

Article Unfortunately Heather Mallick is right. I wonder what they have done in Sweden to be so much more protective of children, and to look after children in a much much healthier way than in Canada.
