  1. Scott....you remind of the poor always voting against their best interests. Maybe you have a poor brain!
  2. Scott.....welcome. I was listening to the radio this afternoon and the phone-in callers seemed to be saying that we now have a choice between the bigots (Conservatives) and the crooks (Liberals), so they prefer to vote for the crooks, er Liberals. I think most Canadians would support that choice if these are the only two options. You must have a lot at stake with this current Pttawa bruhahaha. So what does someone who has played both sides of the same coin think about this?
  3. Article Conservatives and NDP show gains while Liberals tank. Fascinating world we lioke in. Canada Cons 31%, up 3% Libs 27%, down 3% NDP 20%, up 2% Ontario Cons 35% Libs 34% NDP 25% Interesting to see the NDP with Jack Layton's leadership is right up there doing not too shabby. -from the Globe and Mail
  4. 303 people voted + the speaker + 1 seat vacant = 305. Three people didn't vote - I wonder why. Who didn't vote not that it matters. The motion is going nowhere, as apparently by precedence, the government is the one that decides whether something is a confidence motion or not, apart from a finance issue motion or budget issue motion. I suppose Adrienne Carkson will be giving Harper a bit of an education soon! And don't forget the Nfld by-election which is May 24 which from all accounts the Liberals will win. Time is running out for poor Steevie!
  5. The last thing Canada needs is some mean-spirited Bush clone homophobe who represents the extreme rich, at the helm, propped up by some nutbar who wants to split Canada in half, so he can have more power for himself. How quicly we conveniently forget Harper's Reform party and Harper's letter to the WSJ wanting to send Canadian troops to Iraq.
  6. Liberal revival Well so much for Harper's kick at the can with his separatist buddy Duceppe.
  7. You would disagree with any progressive ideas that would make Canada work well!
  8. Is Tuesday doomsday or just a regular day at the office for Liberals? What a clueless couple, this Harper & Duceppe duo. They deserve each other. All they do is criticize with narry an attempt to make our country work. This is a pitiful exhibition by very mean-spirited politicians. A pox on both of them! Harper is screwed and might as well through in the towel now. Imagine allying with the the separatists!
  9. Who cares what the French only people say - or does the Bloc not feel that people from other cultures are acceptable Quebeckers? What are Quebeckers - 20% of the Canadian population? Or do you not think Quebeckers' opinions matter in Canada? Obviously they do just just other folks who come from other cultural backgrounds. You folks waste your time with people like Jose Legault who get rich at your expense.
  10. Don't worry, be happy, Layton is on the right track here: Layton urges more powers for Quebec One can already sense the shift - no more bright orange ties and now this!
  11. Quebeckers have no intention of separating, as a matter of fact they never really did. It is a little game they play and they play it quite well mind you. The main issue for Quebeckers is their fear of cultural assimulation surrounded by this sea of English. Quebeckers realize that with 2 official languages, and French immersion just booming in places like British Columbia, even more than in Ottawa, French will be best protected by Quebec being part of Canada. Most Quebeckers have now moved on past this separation issue, and are focusing on other things. Your ideas are a little out of date. Layton is offering Quebeckers what they want in the budget - it is going to to place the Bloc in a very awkward situation if they vote against the Layton New Democrat budget, and the Bloc, if they do so, will pay a heavy political price. in the next federal election.
  12. NDP leader ready to take on Bloc, says budget key to making inroads in Quebec We sure live in interesting times. Who would have thought that the Layton New Democrats might possibly emege as the main federalist force in Quebec? And before all you right wing folks begin to say this is nonsense, I would just like to point out that this news story is right out of your bible - the national post! This is indeed stunning news! I would have to agree with Jack Layton here- defeat the budget at your own risk. Although I surmise that the budget will pass as the Conservatives don't have the numbers and as well it is the kiss of death for them to be seen cozying up to the Bloc. The Harper Conservatives have dropped 8% in the latest polls, that should tell them something, don't you think?
  13. SES was the most accurate polling company during the last federal election campaign, and the recent SES poll showing Harper dropping 8% says it all. Why don't the Conservatives put the poor fellow out of his misery by dumping him as leader, and putting someone into the leadership role who realistically might have a chance of winning. Someone like Belinda Stronach perhaps ?
  14. Harper the big loser in polls I agree that this strategy to topple the government show a lot of desperation on Harper's behalf.
  15. This is all bluster on Harper's account. Everyone knows this is his last kick at the can and he can count - he knows he hasn't got the numbers. No one is afraid of an election but why waste $300,000,000. on BS. PM Martin has already said he is calling an election 30 days after the report on the scandal has been made. I suppose you think that the Tories should be the prosecution, the Judge and the Jury, all in one. This must be the Tories idea of justice. Why wait for the evidence, we can't get our way, so let's have vigilante justice. Most Canadians don't want an election, and most Canadians want the deal between the NDP and the Liberals. I know that listening to the people isn't one of the Tories strong suits but this time the Tories are just gonna half to wait. Fortunately some of our politicians do believe in listening to Canadians.
  16. Article As I suspected all along this is all smoke and mirrors - the Tories don't have the numbers to defeat the government, and when the by-election is held in Newfoundland in the later part of May, the 24th I think, the Tories will have even less of a chance of bringing down the government.
  17. Deal with Left Helps Canada's Liberals in New Poll Agreed as it seems that Canadians had better get used to minority governments.
  18. Article Libs: 32.5% Cons: 30.5% NDP: 19% And the New Democrats are within 7% of the Liberals in Quebec. Not too shabby!
