Irving shipyards downsized and moved it's dock yards to halifax so it could build smaller ships like fishing vessels because the navy did not provide enough business, The NAVY or should i say our government likes to keep them 40 plus years before replacing them, Irving can not wait that long....So we really don't have much in the way of a ship building industry, when it comes to major war ships....so it does not provide much in the way of diversify our economy does it? at most it provides a small bump while we pay workers to get up to speed on building ships only to lose that expertize after 10 years.... You should ask Irving...maybe the answer is no one likes paying those kind of prices when you can get far more ship for your dollar at other ship yards... This trip has very little to do with establishing new trade partners....No trade delegation, he has very limited powers to start with....what we need is an election before carney screws things up no one can fix... Liberals announce a new military contract for frigates....What irving is charging us for just 3....you should sit down for these numbers, over 22 billion....more than 7 bil a copy...close to what the british paid for their aircraft carriers....while the british are building almost the same ship there total price is 15 bil for 8 ships... And the NAVY wants 15 of these ships estimated at over 100 bil today...compare that to the first estamate...is it worth the cost to pay for Canada shipbuilding industry....when these ships are going to be in the water for at least 40 plus years...and Irving will be in the same place it is now , 40 years from now....Somehow i don't think the navy is going to get 15 ships...like most navy projects it will be pared down...and Irving will dance all the way to the bank... Irving shipyards contract should be canceled and given to either british or australian contractors, or see south korea have the same ship built for much much less. with the same capabilities...

What do you think the UK and france are going to do to trump....nothing both are fighting their own trump sh1t right now... Well like you have alluded to yourself, meeting our agreements would be a good reason. Canceling the liberals sacred cow, and reversing carbon taxes proves it did not really do anything for climate change, nor did it benefit canada in any meaningful way, and like most liberal programs complete failure....and lastly there is not much of a crises if all we can mange to scrape up was 8 plus percent of our climate change goals... Well achieving 8 % of our goal is not the most effective way...everyone gets that except you... Twin engines is no longer a requirement for Canada hence the F-35 purchase...today's tech makes these engines much more reliable. And NO the Grippen does not have half the capabilities as the F-35 it is not even on the same playing field...F-35 could down several grippens before they even knew the F-35 was there, all from distance... Yes the Grippen is cheaper, but again it comes with half the capabilities...lets not forget the Air force has tested the grippen, and typhoon and none of them beat the F-35, not even close...but what do they know about flying stuff... As for a trustworthy supplier this is the first time in what over 100 years that we have any issues with American supplied equipment, NO ONE can guarantee any nation will be a trustworthy supplier for ever unless we built it here, and thats not going to happen........... some politicians has a knot in his ass, and wants to use this purchase for political points... Screw what the military has done towards this project, screw how many decades this would put us back, and screw we are currently flying 40 plus year old fighters we have now, that are costing us more to maintain, to fly, and are obsolete in a modern high intensity warfare conflict. like i have said many times it is cheaper to bury our own people than give them the latest in modern equipment, and their lives mean nothing to some politicians or Canadian they don't care.... Typhoon is the best 4.5 gen fighter out there right now, but it costs 40 million more per copy....if the sticker price is not going to make you sh1t your pants then that would be the next best choice...But even the europeans are looking and very close to the next gen european aircraft, i would say in 10 years time typhoon would be starting to retire...

I think we as a nation have provided all the ammunition that trump needed to make his points, weak border, really our whole security apparatus is weak, take a look at all our issues, out of control immigration, refugees, students, housing prices, inflation, weak dollar, weak economy, over all we are weak in the eyes of trump and we as a nation did that....all trump did was take advantage of that...That's what everyone is pissed at....what we as a nation should be doing is writing down all these faults that have come to light and work to fix them should be priority , not jetting off to see europe...but sitting down with trump and fixing all this, if he does fix that even i will vote for him...but some how i doubt that will ever happen...

Well you really can't blame them, your President has said he is going to take over canada via economic means...he said it enough times that people now believe that is his main objective....That and the rhetoric used for these tariffs has everyone confused, is it for poor border security, drugs etc, or is it because of Canadian tariffs on US goods....I mean he did sign off on that trade deal on his first term, at the time he said it was the best deal of the century... Lets also remember US has the same amount of tariffs on Canadian goods written into that trade agreement... People here feel threatened to the point you can smell the fear...and uncertainty...i mean what would you do if the largest military power in the world threaten to annex you economically...A good majority of Canadians don't want to be annexed, and a good number of Americans don't want to annex Canada, way to many liberals ( extreme lefties)here, that in itself would make it infeasible...Now if you agreed to ship them off to some island nation like greenland, i'd help load them up, but we both know that's not going to happen...
