Ethnic diversity harms a country's social cohesion
Army Guy replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Perhaps the question should be, Can Canada exercise it's given right to it's sovereignty by allowing whom ever they want into the country ? We already have standards in place that each immigrant has to live up to, Not sure why most people are opposed to adding more standards like moral and values testing. -

Army Guy replied to Benz's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I'm not sure how any of the parties are going to handle it...It is not going to go well the liberals , because that is what they do is whine and dribble over the slightest social issue.., the cons are going to poll the shit out of it, and if the majority likes it they will back it, if not then they will fight it...Miss MAY well really cares... -
Immigrants cost Canada $30 billion per year
Army Guy replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Politician's are not going to control shit....the lack of funding and infra structure is going to dictate the whole process, other cities are going to have to take up the slack, until this infra structure deficit is under control. Toronto , Montréal , Vancouver are still going to grow, but not at the same pace 90 % of all incoming immigrants is not sustainable... -

Take a deep breath, your turning blue...... Dougie, no where did I say New Brunswick was going to grow because Toronto was full, our largest cities have already expressed concerned by their Majors to the federal government that they can not continue to absorb 90 % of the immigrants coming into Canada, they are saying that they have a negative balance in infra structure already, with NO to little funding to build it, they are begging Ottawa for funding but none is forth coming....Under the Liberal and Conservative government they only plan to increase the numbers of immigrants.... You can't shove 10 lbs of shit into a 5 lb bag...with no funding. despite what you say.... These people will have to go into the other large cities where they have an infra structure surplus along with the funding to support it.... -

Atlantic Canada is not set up to bring in different ethnic people, there is no expertise in that area here, no special infra structure such as mosques etcs….and it has been a struggle on both sides, a huge learning curb, huge differences in culture, a lot of people not very accepting which was also returned in kind.... larger provinces don't have this issue they have a plan of action , infra structure, people from that culture have already laid down the ground work..... so yes most will leave once they can, but not all and that was the goal right to attract some immigrants to the Atlantic provinces...... Eventually all these big cities will not be able to sustain large numbers year after year without major investment in infra structure etc etc, soon or later those cities will be crossed out from the immigration choices....new cities will have to become the new Mecca for immigrants... immigration will have to say any where but here ,here and here.... Atlantic Canada does have it's challenges, but it is not a welfare state that most think it is, yes people were traveling to Alberta for jobs, extremely high paying jobs, i might add, but then again most Canadians where taken advantage of this..... Now they are coming back to work for normal wages until Alberta's economy picks up. -

These migrants numbers are larger than you think, each province has these programs, and while not in the majority, they are still large enough to warrant their own category. less than 60 % of the total immigrants Canada accepts are economical, and of those 60 % not as many as you think are buying there way in with wealth. Not saying it is not happening but not on the scale your suggesting. https://www.immigration.ca/how-many-immigrants-come-to-canada-each-year -

So what your saying is the incentive programs are accomplishing the same goals only with a carrot. which plays on the immigrants need to change his current living conditions, the government already knows what the answer is going to be.......And this some how breaches the terms of the post. The agreement still dictates where that immigrant is going to live, and the terms are a take it or leave it offer.. -

How can it be fallacy, the government wants immigrants to move to certain areas....it offers programs such as these, and yes immigrants jump at the opportunity to skip ahead of the line...and yes they would agree to pretty much anything...but in the grand scheme of things the government is telling these people live here , and agree to our conditions or good luck with the waiting in line.... -

Most Canadians of all colors and religions have always been closet racists, take a look some 60 years ago, where the Jews were being systemically wipe off the earth by the Nazi war machine, and knowing the consequences of that action , we still refused ships entry into Canada based on our religious disapprovals , take a look at Black Canadians and how long they have been persecuted, and in certain areas still are.... ....Canada is not a nation of diversity as we claim, our immigrants are for the most part huddled together in enclaves across Canada .. Its human nature to huddle together with people who share a common bond, ie color , religion, etc....but it is not very conducive for making a blended or diverse nation. Not everyone will fit in with other cultures based on this racism, or unacceptance as you call it. and until we get rid of the things that divide us , such as religion, being uneducated, or just unable to change , things will never change. -

We already have programs that dictate where immigrants / refugees live, the Atlantic immigration pilot program is one example where immigrates are restricted to certain areas within Atlantic Canada , mainly the large Atlantic cities. They may move after spending 5 or more years in Atlantic Canada. Yes they volunteered for the program, but it does restrict them in where they can move to or live...another would being sponsored if that sponsorship is in say Manitoba then that is where they must live, until they are no longer dependent on their sponsor...Again they are restricted on where they can live....most immigrants do have a preferred city, such as Toronto , Montreal, etc.. but not every one can go there, alternatives are suggested, immigrants accept, because their end goal is to get into the country. -
Elizabeth May wants to fight against Québec
Army Guy replied to Benz's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I'm not sure that taking religion to serious is a English only problem, I know lots of Quebecers and Acadians that take their religion very serious...but i'm sure those people are the minority. I think western culture is moving away from religion altogether , "my opinion". Banning smoking was done for health reasons, most of Canada is on board, banning religious clothing or articles, is covered under basic human rights, and bill 21 discriminates only a few religions, like already mentioned Sikhs for instance and the wearing of a turban, they can not go outside of their home without a turban on it is required by their religion, as is wearing the kipan….same with head scarf, for Muslim women.....the actual wearing of these items is mandated by their religion, it is not an option for them , by banning them in public service your preventing future generations from working , and your forbidding them from fully practicing their religion. … As I said I not a lawyer, but from what I have read bill 21 goes against the grain of human rights and basic Canadian rights as well.. I'm not sure how this relates to Quebec as they are not a signee on the constitution. But Quebecor's must be protected under Canada's constitution are they not? I think most Canadians have shrugged their shoulders at many of Quebec laws, such as the language laws, where they are not applied the same way as in the ROC. and when everyone is not treated the same it causes friction...I think the main reason it has not become an political issue as it would be a major election issue with lots of French votes held in the balance....right now it is to close to an election to make any enemies. Religions provide a basis for some of our morals and values, even some of our policies and laws, such as the old abortion laws...etc etc...those are slowly being reset to become more neutral. You explain your position well, and it is not that I do not respect Quebec's rights to make laws and rules on their own, I think however I think all provinces should abide by the federal laws that we all have to follow...and I think this bill 21 erodes some of those rights...or out right breaks them...Like I said I am not a lawyer, or expert in political policy and I may be full of shit...this is my opinion thats all. -

I think there is discourse on both sides of the spectrum, and while his dress does not make the man, you must admit the image of a PM is important and does play a role in how he is perceived by other world leaders. Just a question why has the liberals let slip that very scenario with Quebec's bill 21, is it because he does not want any more negative press, or to loss the Quebec vote...His silence on the matter is telling , mind you the only leader to even bring it up as MAY. -

Yes Dougie my bad , French history is not my bag of tea, however you got my drift, our French Canadians comrades to my north are tied to France and it's Royal History. or atleast as much as our ties to England and the English Royalty. -

I think I agree with Westcanman as well, This subject of religious items / clothing if I'm not mistaken is already law, and covered under the Canadian Human Rights act. as stated below . I'm not a lawyer and I am not an expert, but I pretty sure that one can not fire/ dismiss a person because they refuse to not to wear religious clothing, at work...such as the turban or Kirpan, or even a burka. This is not about Quebec's decision to create their own law, but rather upholding a federal laws and human rights already in place... Not smoking at work was done for health reasons, and it is not the same thing, Smoking is not a right, or is it covered in our constitution, as far as I know. In some religions they don't have a chioce of wearing certain articles, Such as the Sikh's wearing turbans, or Kirpans (knifes) or head scarfs for instance, you don't care because for you , you have nothing in the game, so who cares right, but to others where religion guides most of, if not all their lives your asking a lot for them to choose religion or moving to find work outside of Quebec.. Would you think it would be ok if New Brunswick banned speaking French and moved out all the Acadians because they refused to only speak English...Im mean if you refused to speak only English then the problem is you and not bill 21. Most Canadians are not that religious, ya we may go to church on Sundays, get married in a church, but we are not going to go to some holy war over it....nor are we going to let it run our entire lives....for the most part I think a majority of Canadians are over religion...but that is not the case in all religions, or races….Hence why we have made some accommodations The matter of royalty and all that goes with that is not just an English thing, I believe the French have a long history of it as well. "Let them all eat cake" ring a bell. any ways France did away with all that we have not caught up, not that we like Royalty , but as a nation it would be to expensive to change our entire system or dependence on our for of government plus we are not that motivated to change ,we are lazy . I don't think your going to hear anything on this topic until after the federal election, no one wants to be make waves in Quebec before the election....Well except for May but she has nothing really to lose does she...Justin on the other hand.... -
I know what we are talking about, but you just don't want to hear the message, if your glorious leader is capable of being the first prime minister in Canadian history to be guilty of breaking not one but two major ethics rules, and topping that off with his misconduct during SNC, pipe lines, immigration, carbon tax, where he has lied to Canadians dozens upon dozens of times. So how can you sit there and say im confusing the issue, and buying the media is a fake news item....when Justin and his gang of deceivers have constantly lied to us over and over again....But what really blows my mind is how you are blind to that....my guess is your fully aware, and you don't have the stomach to say it is wrong, because your a liberal ........you would prefer to shrug that off and defend this mutt for his action, next your going to tell us that the over 4 bil in last minute spending was not to buy votes....It's not fake news...fake news would be the liberals are just trying to help the middle class, that he is good for Canada....

I'm glad that the polls are the way they are now, it is going to push all the parties to drive harder...I to believe Justins days are over as they should be, the only mystery is going to be who or what coalition is going to form government …. I think Scheer has driven his platform more to the left to capture those liberals who have not decided whom to vote for...and have left a lot of Conservatives hanging in the wind...the only alternative is MAX... Besides I like his platform much better than Scheers, even you have said that....I think a lot of cons on here also see it that way...and while I do not think MAX will be victorious in the polls I think he is going to do a lot better than everyone thinks, perhaps some of his platform will make it into play.........Besides we have tried the libs and the cons....I think it is time for a change... -
Still Going to Buy the F-35, Really?
Army Guy replied to Hoser360's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Explain this for me , why is it we swear our allegiance to the Queen and not to the country or government of Canada, It was not meant as some metaphor , with some secret meaning, it is a built in safety device so our own government could not use the military against it's own people, or for it's own advantage with out the permission of the governor General or the Queen.. And while it may seem symbolic to you , the fact remains it is how it is written in our laws and governmental practices...which we are to lazy or it is to time consuming to change our type of government. So dougie is correct when leaning on the Queen as the sole person our military, RCMP and who ever else swears allegiance to the Queen is responsible to.... As for the Military being responsible to the Public....not so, Yes you pay taxes to the government, who spends those taxes on what ever it wants.... but if that government decides they are going to use military force on the public , with the governor blessing of course that is what is going to happen....regardless of how much taxes you have paid or paying...So in reality the government is the hand that feeds us.... Here is where in my opinion you as a tax payer lose credibility, You claim responsibility of paying the bills, making decisions of what bills are going to get paid, and yet veterans which have done nothing but serve you and this nation, still have to take the nation to court to receive benefits that every Canadian already receives, why is it you stop all of that in order to save a few bucks....and why is it the current government has done little to return those benefits ? Can you see why vets and soldiers are getting a little bitter, here your demanding Dougies loyality, like his serving and sacrifices were not enough ....and you have shown nothing but a cold shoulder to....What kind of country do we want, lets start with one that treats its soldiers as any other citizen gets treated, nothing more nothing less...we are one of the most giving nations in the world, but we can not give our vets the same treatment as you are entitled to. -

On one hand you seem confident that Justin's merry band of crooks are on the way out, but as soon as you mention Bernier your tone changes, like deep down you know Scheer does not have what it takes....which one is it. -
Israel targets Iranian troops in Damascus, Syria.

PSSST, I think he was talking about Russia , Iran, I know you got to fill that quota about blaming Israel for everything.... Maybe you can provide a source that ISIS was supported by Israel....
