Yes we all buy that' Mikey boy headed back for North Bay where he should have stayed in the first place, he was the first head of government that had to have protection before he could go out in public. When he realized that he had done to the provincial conservative party what Mulroney had done to the Federal partyl he cut and run leaving the mess to land slide Ernie. Yep Ontariians need the good old boys back. -

PM Announces Changes to Canada Food Labels

Most Canadians in our area believed they were supporting the fisherman of the Maritimes by buying a very trusted produce. It was a slap in the face to most of us to find very little or none of the fish produced by Highliner and saying it was Canadian was actually that. -
Some Harrisites now in Ottawa, Jim Flaherty, John Baird, Tony Clement, Helena Guergis

PM Announces Changes to Canada Food Labels

The stratagy has been to sit on this until the peach trees and vegetable areas are all gone. When it is considered too costly to bring back the farms and orchards, then we will be stuck with contaminated foreign food then the people will realize What has happened. . The program on CBC about highliner fish hit home to a lot of people and the common comment was "I will never buy Highliner fish again. This is a good example of why the Conservatives want rid of the CBC -

Mr. Harper must have gotten a lot of flack to have him recognize this. Heinz for one won't like it. Heinz original Beans with pork and Tomato sauce with that lovely Heart and Stroke check on it, no where lists on the can either where it is manufactured or grown. The only information is that it is Union Made. Closing the only peach manufacturing plant in the Niagara region now needs to be looked into. Its time sombody proctected our food supply -
Albert Einstein says 'Belief in God 'childish,'

When I read the posts on here I wonder how many believe in the old fellow up there in the white nightgown. It is time that we removed our beliefs in a God in our image. What I believe is that the whole universe is God or whatever you want to call it. And we are all men, whales, snakes whatever part of that. How we live our own life is our choice. I am not saying that we are all created equal because we are not. Some certainly are born with a lot more than others but we are all part of the universe and therefore part of what ever God is. One of the problems I see is that some of us never really grow up, we continue until our deaths to need a father figure to tell us what to do. Then there are those of us who know it all or so we think and we will run our lives the way we want. Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. -
Interesting thoughts on here, my Daughter had acute leukemia, she was given a year to live if she did not get a bone marrow transplant and only a 30% chance of surviving. To do a transplant they give you 2 gallon jugs of chemo and then they give you high doses of radiation to kill all your bone marrow. This is all done in the 36 hours before the transplant. My daughter survived and is back working full time. A year later her cousin developed the same thing and got her bone marrow transplant and lived 6 months. My husband back in 1964 lived 10 days after he was diagnosed. Note that although father and daughter got it, the other cousin was a different family. No relation to my husband. We now have two more with the problem which in my families case starts with low blood platelets.

So a horrendous storm hits Burma killing thousands and with their paranoid government may end up killing millions. At least 10,000 dead in China and awful storms in the US, do you think we are immune and that this year is just an anomoly? Ontario is on the downward slope, more job losses and Flaherty just says there are lots of jobs. Yes there seem to be but at half the pay, who will pay for those expensive homes. Are we on the downward slope?

There are a lot of rules now, try selling organic milk for instance. My husband's nephew milks 200 cows and sells organic milk. The paperwork is horrendous since everything he feeds those cows is under the microscope. Corn for instance can have none of Monsanto's stuff in it. Only organic manure can be used etc. I think there is a way of protecting Canadians from foreign foods if only the agencies responsible would check it out. No need to put small producers out of business.

No I just had this gut feeling that although we like to think we are masters of earth that we have managed to push too far. When i talk to my cousin in Ireland I realize that we have no idea what life is like when you are really poor. I hope my feeling is wrong, but I may not be hear to see that.

Okay before the Bullies say it I will say it. Put on your tin hats. I watched a scientist from Frazer Univercity in BC talking on Knowledge network today. He said that at the first earth summit or whatever it was in the early ninties the scientest all warned that we were using too much of earths resources. At the next one the warning was much more strongly worded It seems to me that here we are with oil shortages, food shortages and horrendous storms have we gone past the mark and are our governments afraid to tell us? Yes I know, you can say this too will pass, but will it? Funny that it takes icebergs 4 years to reach Newfoundland and this year there are a huge amount of them all of a sudden. Do you really think this is just an anomolly Well I will be 73 in June, it won't affect me that much but what age are the rest of you.

No were I come from they are grown in steralized horse manure.

In an article in the Globe and Mail yesterday they were taking about the Foods that are packaged and Labelled in Canada and saying Made in Canada. One persons response to that article was as follows: A person for Canada Writes, Mushrooms! The story Made in Canada left out the story of mushrooms. No mushroom farmer in Canada can compete with the Chinese Bulk mushrooms that are canned in Vancouver, thus 51% Canadian. Mushrooms are grown in human manure. You can't really wash mushrooms - just pick off the lumps, try Googling " Fecal matter in mushrooms". There are special lab test but any time spent with you kids microscope looking at the ecosystem in that can of mushrooms will leave you barfing. How much food can be in food before we reject it - especially when it wasn't pooped in Canada? Remember the dog and cat food.

Global Warming to Stop - CO2 Role Exagerrated
margrace replied to Riverwind's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
So the basic consensus on here seems to be that this is a natural thing that is happening. So are you all saying that it is natural for thousands of people to die in these storms. What is the earth getting rid of? Mother earth will protect herself from anything that is a danger to her and man obviously must be a danger and she is getting rid of us. You are saying that anything we do, polution for instance, makes no difference, we are all going to die? -
Harper would dearly love to take a page from Mike Harris's book in Ontario, remember the huge omnibus bill in Ontario, because he had a majority he got it passed easily and since it was so huge most opposition members had no idea what was in it. But you know the Ontario Library Association was well up on these type of tactics, they had been and are continually on the watch for any government laws that limit acces of freedom to libraries for the common person. So they waged a campaign and the government had to back down on cutting support to libraries. Canadians think that because this is a Democracy that all is well, they don't have to pay attention but the only way we can keep our Democratic country is to be continually on the alert. All these bills being slid through right now can hurt everyone of us and we need to pay attention. Stop sleeping wake up Canadians.
