Being sued is certainly a deterent for ordinary citizens, it lets a lot go on that should be stopped. Is this a new way of governing, the fear factor?

So according to some posters on here we just buy our fruit and vegetables from elsewhere. Aren't we setting ourselves up for some real problems. The Mad cow disease for instance that is not really acknowledged by our neighbour to the south.

Farmers who raise animals and who can afford to quit are really looking at raising corn and such for biofuels. One of the top Farmer organizations president in Ontario was saying in an article in the Western Ontario Farmer that it is about time farmers got paid a living wage.

Interesting listening and reading farmers comments about this. They are all for this bill to produce bio fuels and those that can are going to get rid of their amimals and switch to growing produce to produce it. Canada has had cheap food for a long time now its the farmers turn to make some money.

Actualy I don't think any of the above makes much sense.

And yet Topaz there are people on here who claim our economy will not be hurt and our standard of living will not drop. I wonder who they work for.

Well consider this, when the Cosby show came on the TV people were quite upset because no black people lived like that!!!! Well who would have believed??? Young black people finally had a view of what really was and they liked it, it gave them something to strive for In fact there is a parallel in Canada, When the passenger trains had black porter a large amount of them were univercity educated and that was the only job they could get. Well in our area we are all losing our private end of lane boxes. They really don't need any exuse, it is just going. It all very well for seniors who drive but what happens to those who don't.

And there are people who do this, my daughter was so incensed at some of their colomnist that she cancelled her subscription. I never had one, but if more people would do this maybe they might clean up their act.

Right from the start it has been my fear that we are creating a position where one person or group becomes tyrants and the rest of us merely slaves. While, in theory, Globalization sounds good, it is very scarry. We all need to have some control over our destinies. We have fought long and hard to get rid of the idea of the devine right of Kings and now people want to sell us out for their own benefit. Democaracy is a hard fight and we need to fight for it daily, not let compacency and the lure of the almighty dollar become our goal.

Doesn't this all go to prove that most of our politicians are crooks or a least out to make money on the backs of the tax payers/ E.G. what did Chreitien make out of his forays, what did Martin gain, What did Malroney gain and we all know that Harper probably isn't in it for anything but control and Power. Harris walked away with some pretty lucrative appointments and wil all the others. And lowest but not least our wonderful Health Minister running our health system while owning 25% of a drug company. If that isn't the most blatant shoe of his compete distain for his voters.

But what about road racers who cause accidents for others?

So don't you just prove the point, Harpers cleaner, transparent gov't, that he campaigned on is no different. It all very well to bring up past evidence but this is present day evidence that Harper in not to be believed or trusted.

In listening to a relative's reasons for supporting Harper it seems that as long as he touts the family supporter bit and appears to fundamentalist types to be against abortion and same sex marriage, he will gain women's support. But the fact is that this support is only there in the over 60's women I suspect. The younger people are more sauvy and I think most politicians realize this. That is why there is no general move toward abolishing either abortion or same sex marriage

It would seem that any real discussion on Harris and his political machinations on here is greeted with sarcasm. Harris was a front man, he had no real control of the government, it was all set up and controlled by the type of people now on the Harper gov/t and being preposed as new advisors. If you look at the Harper policies from his past, now being denied by nay sayers on here, you will find that the Ontario Government of that time and what is going on in Ottawa right now are really no different. Telling people that Harris sits on such ultra conservative organizations as the Fraser Institute seems to scare the devil out of certain posters. They don't want Ontarions to know this or even suggest that they might be able to see what is going on. Harper can't get his majority, he wants so badly, without Ontario and he is risking losing Quebec to gain power. I will put on my "tin hat" and wonder what really is the agenda of these people? Do they want to split the country and sell out to the section of the American poloticians who have always advocated that Canada really belongs to them. Now I will run for the hills before the nastiness start to fly because this is the only way the negative posters can operate.

You must have the same educational abilities as Harris if this is all you can say in refuting my post.

Really Harris sold out everything he could to his American friends and then realized it was time to go. Someone said the former ski bum and golf player from North Bay, the one who did not get his teachers liscense now sits on 10 boards of his company friends.

My idea of television is PBS, did you watch Bill Maher today, SCN, TVO used to be good but with the sell in with the Harris government it has slipped and the BC station. These along with AChanel news and the Weather chanel are all we watch. The CBC of course but the rest are a lot of useless nonsense catering to the great unwashed.
