Charterrights, what these EGO driven people refuse to see is that we are all two parts. EGO wants, needs to be the controlling force, EGO is the negativity in us. All the things we learned in our life.are in our EGO. EGO hates and fears Presence. Sarcasm, changing the subject, making fun of others, showing how important we are or how educated we are all come from EGO. If we look at our next statement and decide whether it is coming from Presence or from EGO we scare the devil in EGO. If we chose Presence as you are then EGO loses power. We do not need to judge, EGO demands that. We do not need to have the best, to control others, to put others down. EGO demands that. This is why these people are so fearful that they need to do everything they can to shut this discussion down. EGO demands it. We cover up the fear in us by putting others down, this is what these people are doing.

A very basic description of how the EGO works is this. I state that the sky is blue and you state that the sky is azure. Both statements but when I next say I know it is blue, then that is the EGO at work. The EGO is our need to control, argue and fight. What I have learned is that I check out my motives for anything I am going to say and if it is negative then I know that the EGO is there waiting to start something.

if we all realized that in each of us there is a Presence. That Presence is part of the universe and God is the universe? HOw woul we change the world or even this forum if we all recognized what the Ego in us is and what we could do if we decided not to allow it to control us.

The cost for an Energy Audit seems high for anyone on a fixed income? Which government is Proposing this cost? Have you had one? Does it cover a percentage of the cost of Geothermal installations?

I am wondering how you define rich. Does having good health in your 70's and 80's not mean that you are rich. Material goods are immaterial at that age. A roof over your head, a full stomach and good friends and family are what make you rich aren't they?

Perhaps if we as a voting public paid more attention to who and what people are we might get better government.

How many of our federal and provincially elected members of parliment are career politicians and do you not think that by only allowing one term in office we would get rid of these self serving politicians. Think about it.

Okay lets start this again. I didn't realize that it was an American site I was on before. But could we not look at this in this way. Someone is persuaded by the electrate to run for office. They reason being that we know their beliefs and we trust them So they go in with the idea of doing what the electrate wants. So why would it not work or have we become so inured in evil politics that we could not countenance an honest person in there.

I believe this is the problem, do we have no faith in the honesty of our fellow man or do we applaud the person whe gets away with being dishonest. All too often I hear the excuse we can't change it, every man for himself.

So wouldn't it be incumbant of the voter to be aware of what is promised to be aware of the person they are voting for and what their agenda might be. Seems to me that people posting on here do have their own agendas. We all need to change our agendas from asking what will I get out of this to what is best for everyone. The very fact that what is happening in Ontario really could be forseen and could have been avoided. Why are we spending Billions on highways when the car market is in such chaos and the price of gas is so high. A few questions like this might be helpful, a little more awareness of what is going on around us.

Charter rights. Yes getting rid of the ego is as you say impossible, But we can work at it and by just recognizing it for what it is we are started on our way. Thoughts, the food of the ego, pop into our head constantly and recognizing this is the first step. The next one is learning how to observe them and not let them take control but let them go and of course the answer is to observe your breath. It is amazing how strong the ego is when one is concentrating on their breath and the ego wants to bring back the old thought. These of course can be anything, worry over yesterday, or tomorrow or just plain thinking of something else other than were we are at the moment. Every time we manage to let the thought go and just breath and be where we are at the moment we have disempowered a little of the ego. Ego likes to tell us who we are, a person of importance for instance. This is pure ego. If we could completely get rid of ego we would not be here of course. It is impossible in this life to get away from ego and you have given the very good reasons for this.

So and wouldn't it be terrible if they had to keep the pomises they made to get elected.

I was told that in Finland a person can only run for a four year term of office. After this he/she is required to step down. If that was implimented here how would it plan out? Would we get good people in there doing what they promise or crooks in there for their own immediate gain? What do you think?

We have a constant stream of involutary and cumpulsive thinking and the emotions that accompany it-that we may describe tham as being possessed by our minds. Ekhart Tolle As long as we think our thoughts are who we are ,then we are living in the egoic mind. Then we let our ego control us. The ego is therefore something unreal that we create, something that is not I. If we consciously recognize our thoughs and refuse to give them life then we have diabled the ego. The ego is who we think we are, not what we are.

The title is A New Earth: Awakening to your life"s Purpose Maybe we need to realize what the EGO is and how it runs our lives.

Borg what a good post, most people do not even care where their food comes from as long as it is cheap. And yes we will reap what we sow. We have quite a few farmers in the family but most of them are lucky to benefit from the only good program around. They are dairy farmers, but that too for most of them is a 24 seven job. My son in law got out because he thought it was just a matter of time before the nay sayers had the milk boards done away with.
